Never underestimate the power of word-of-mouth. A QUIET PLACE, directed by and starring John Krasinski (and also partner Emily Blunt!) quietly has been building buzz and raves were loud after its SXSW Premiere recently in Austin. It debuts atop the Box Office with a smashing $50 million for Paramount Pictures from 3,508 theatres. It gets a 97% on the Tomatometer and a B+ CinemaScore.

In second is last week’s champ READY PLAYER ONE with $24 million from 4,234 theatres, a total $94 million over two weeks for Warner Bros.

Third is new entrant BLOCKERS with $20 million from 3,379 theatres for Universal Pictures. The Comedy was made for $19 million and gets 83% on the Tomatometer and a B CinemaScore for first-time Feature Director Kay Cannon.

BLACK PANTHER is far from done, in fourth this weekend with $8.2 million in its eighth week out for Marvel/Disney. It has made $665 million to-date in North America.

Tyler Perry’s ACRIMONY debuts in fifth with $7.3 million from 2,006 theates for Lionsgate Films/eOne Films. The Director’s highest opening still goes to 2009’s Tyler Perry’s Madea Goes to Jail with $41 million.

CHAPPAQUIDDICK debuts in seventh with $5.7 million from 1,560 theatres for Entertainment Studios/D Films. The TIFF ’17 selection starring Jason Clarke gets an impressive 79% on the Tomatometer and a B CinemaScore.

THE MIRACLE SEASON rounds-out the Top Ten in its opening with $3.8 million from 1,707 theatres for LD Entertainment/Elevation Pictures. It gets 36% on the Tomatometer and an A CinemaScore from Audiences.

So you might’ve heard I was in New York City this past week enjoying the Met Gala (see the Photos!) and it was an amazing thrill seeing the Fashions and the Celebrity in-person after admiring them online for many years now.  Red Carpets and flashing Cameras are something I vow to never get sick of!   Promise.  Hoping to visit again next Spring!

Although I did get to meet Met Gala Host Rooney Mara in-person and she was lovely to stop and say “hi” and blow me a kiss, unfortunately she didn’t do the Photo but I still will have the memory!  One day I’ll have my Gwen Stefani and Anne Hathaway moment!  I did get Photos with Jennifer Morrison (Once Upon a Time) and Tommy Hilfigger but unfortunately they just didn’t turn out:(

Fortunately, most of the Celebrities I met were more than obliging and here are some of the Stars I got to get  Snap with below. And yes, that is KYLIE MINOGUE!!!!  She is just as lovely as I’d dreamed!  Ditto for Kelly Ripa!!  Armie Hammer too!! And I don’t believe Zooey Deschanel said “yes”!  She never does!!

Alliance Films and Mr. Will Wong are thrilled to give Readers a chance to win a Double Pass to see Gus Van Sant‘s (MILK, Good Will Hunting) latest Film, Promised Land. Promised Land is the new contemporary drama directed by Gus Van Sant (Good Will Hunting, Milk). Matt Damon plays Steve Butler, an ace corporate Salesman who is sent along with his Partner, Sue Thomason (Frances McDormand), to close a key rural town in his company’s expansion plans. With the town having been hit hard by the economic decline of recent years, the two outsiders see the local Citizens as likely to accept their company’s offer, for drilling rights to their properties, as much-needed relief. What seems like an easy job for the duo becomes complicated by the objection of a respected Schoolteacher (Hal Holbrook) with support from a grassroots campaign led by another Man (John Krasinski), as well as the interest of a local Woman (Rosemarie DeWitt). Promised Land explores America at the crossroads where big business and the strength of small-town community converge.

‘Atta Hubby!  The Office Star John Krasinski arrived in Toronto this evening to show support at his Wife, Emily Blunt‘s Premiere for Looper across two venues, VISA Screening Room and Roy Thomson Hall.  The Time Travel-Action Flick starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt as a younger Bruce Willis, has been called by Blunt “the best film she’s ever worked on”.

Incredibly gracious, Krasinski took-on Fans from all directions. Class act.
