There aren’t many awards which Canadian-born Actress Anna Paquin hasn’t earned. The Winnipeg-born star has the distinction of being the second-youngest actress ever to win an Oscar for her work in Jane Campion‘s 1993 Film The Piano, and also a Golden Globe Award win too for her popular role in acclaimed HBO Series True Blood as Sookie Stackhouse. In addition to recent work starring in CBC series Alias Grace and Bellevue, the latter which brought her to Toronto earlier this year, Paquin has a high-profile recurring role as Rogue on the X-Men Franchise.
Despite being based in America, Paquin gets a heroine’s welcome home being honoured with a star on Canada’s Walk of Fame. She sees herself honoured alongside national treasures like two-time Olympic Champion Donovan Bailey and Scientist/Activist David Suzuki. Receiving inductions post-humously are Humanitarian Viola Desmond (seen on our most recent $10 note), Telecommunications Pioneer Ted Rogers, and Musician Stompin’ Tom Connors (Cineplex Legends Inductee). JUNO Winner Shawn Hook received this year’s Allan Slaight Honour.
Paquin arrived at the 19th edition of the ceremony glamorous in shimmering flower adornments and black (dress by Pamella Roland), husband Stephen Moyer opening the door for her as she exited her SUV like the perfect gentleman he is. She now can count herself among the 173 notables honoured with stars along the walkways of Toronto’s Entertainment District. Singer/Songwriter Jann Arden filled Gala hosting duties.
Paquin and Moyer (born Emery) both recently collaborated together on upcoming Film The Parting Glass, filmed here in Toronto. Moyer directs, with their True Blood Co-Star Denis O’Hare penning the Script.

Although he was to make it into the City last week for his latest Film THE RECALL, Breaking Bad star RJ Mittemade it here at last for a different reason. The 24-year-old actor known best for his work on that AMC series as Walter White Jr., was like his character, diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. He has overcome the odds and he is here to speak about it at the 18th annual Ability and Beyond Dinner at the Royal York Hotel tonight for The March of Dimes Canada, hosted by Carolyn Mackenzie of Global Television.
After flying in to Toronto last night, Mitte did a bit of press today including Global Television’s The Morning Show about his partnership with The March of Dimes.
He was amazingly nice to stop after hopping out of his cab for a quick Snap!
Parks and Recreation Star Adam Scott has been quiet of late and we’re thrilled to have him back! The dapper Funnyman last graced our city in 2011 walking the Red Carpet for Dramedy Friends With Kids. After premiering at Sundance to positive reception, his latest Comedy THE OVERNIGHT now is set for release.
The Film centers on a young family who relocate to L.A. They meet another mysterious young family and decide to go on a playdate which takes a turn to the interesting and revealing. Everyone is talking about the prosthetics. Jason Schwartzman and Taylor Schilling star also.
Scott has a busy day ahead doing promotion for The Overnight and in the 6 AM hour was at Breakfast Television where Fans say that despite being quiet, was very kind. He arrived at The Morning Show in the 8 AM hour and was all smiles.
Growing up in the late ’80s and early ’90s, it was impossible to avoid the powerful, resonating vocals of New York-born Diva, Taylor Dayne (neeLeslie Wunderman). Singles like Tell it to my Heart, Don’t Rush Me, With Every Beat of my Heart and the ever-moving Love Will Lead You Back have a timelessness to them which still to this day have a home on the Dancefloor and Adult Contemporary Radio.
The still-gorgeous Actress/Songstress is in town for a Show tonight at the Living Arts Centre and on a super-rare occasion, she did a round of Interviews early today promoting it with visits to CITY‘s Breakfast Television and Global Television‘s The Morning Show (National Edition).Looking a vision of perfection in red, it is somehow as if time had stood still as somehow she looks even more stunning than in the ’80s!
Dayne performed on Breakfast Television (watch here) after sitting down for a Chat with Dina Pugliese, before heading-off to her appearance on The Morning Show. Despite it being beyond freezing, she gestured to her many ardent fans outside the window, assuring them she’d be out momentarily to greet them. And she did!
You can always tell by the gleam in my eyes when I’m that extra-bit excited about meeting someone and I’ve waited my whole life to meet Taylor Dayne!
The beautiful Evangeline Lilly received a Heroine’s welcome home today as the Actress is in-town promoting The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug as Tauriel, the Woodland Elf.
