The season kicks off on Global with Canada’s #1 program Survivor back for Season 47 starting Wednesday, September 18 at 8 p.m. ET/PT with a special two-hour premiere (followed by weekly 90-minute episodes). Then, Canada’s #1 drama 9-1-1 returns for an eighth season on Thursday, September 26 at 8 p.m. ET/PT. Celebrating its iconic 50th season, Canada’s #1 show in late night, Saturday Night Live, also premieres on Global this fall.

Global’s brand-new slate of scripted programming launches with a special sneak preview of Matlock starring Oscar® winner Kathy Bates on Sunday, September 22 at 8 p.m. ET/PT before settling into its regular day and time on Thursday, October 17 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Canadian-produced mystery, Murder in a Small Town, starring Rossif Sutherland and Kristin Kreuk debuts Tuesday, September 24 at 8 p.m. ET/PT with a one-time 90-minute episode then moves to 9 p.m. ET/PT on Tuesday, October 8 before landing in its regular day and time on Wednesday, October 16 at 10 p.m. ET/PT. The latest addition to the NCIS franchise starring Austin Stowell as a young Agent Gibbs, NCIS: Origins, premieres Monday, October 14 at 9 p.m. ET/PT with a one-time two-hour episode before moving to its regular time slot at 10 p.m. ET/PT on Monday, October 21. Lastly, big laughs from Damon Wayans and Damon Wayans Jr. come to Global with Poppa’s House Monday, October 21 at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT.

THE HISTORY CHANNEL

The HISTORY® Channel, a Top 10 specialty network* and destination for behind-the-scenes storytelling, premieres five new Canadian Original titles in 2024/2025. Brand-new series Yukon Rescue follows emergency response teams in Canada’s rugged north as they navigate extreme weather conditions, structure fires, avalanches, flash floods, spreading wildfires, and more to keep their communities safe.

The four-part documentary, Sounds Black, traces the origins and impact of Black Music in Canada. Directed by award-winning filmmaker Cazhhmere, with contributions from luminaries such as Kardinal Offishall, Jully Black, Fefe Dobson, Maestro Fresh Wes, Deborah Cox, Keisha Chante and more, the series explores Black Canadian music from its tangled diasporic roots to its international dominance. Another Top 10 specialty network*, W Network is known for its popular offering of romantic made-for-TV movies, and starting to rollout early 2025 is the next chapter in The Love Club movie franchise, The Love Club Moms. Nelvana’s award-winning short film Jelly will be making its official primetime debut this September on Cartoon Network. TREEHOUSE

Treehouse, the #1 overall Kids Specialty network with K2-11 and K2-5****, this Fall welcomes the much talked about and eagerly-awaited new series, Barney’s World, co-produced by Mattel Television and Nelvana. The CG-animated series is set in the local playground, where Barney is joined by dinos Billy and Baby Bop and their three kid best friends. Throughout silly and imaginative adventures together, Barney helps kids explore big preschool emotions and shows them how to love themselves, others, and their community.

Thomas & Friends: All Engines Go! continues to delight kids with Season 28 pulling into Treehouse this year, plus a brand new one-hour holiday special, Thomas & Friends: “The Christmas Letter Express” All Engines Go!, where Percy rushes to deliver a letter so the child’s Christmas Wish comes true.

Coming later this year to Treehouse is Millie Magnificent from Nelvana, inspired by the best-selling books by Ashley Spires and Nelvana’s award-winning short film The Most Magnificent Thing. Zokie of Planet Ruby premieres this Fall on YTV, the #1 Commercial Kids Specialty network with K6-11.* Ruby Studebaker and her alien BFF Zokie Sparkleby film their adventures around the town of Tres Leches. Along with their con-man friend Earl the squirrel, Ruby teaches Zokie about Earth, while Zokie tries to control his unpredictable alien powers.

NEW PRIMETIME SERIES FOR FALL 2024

One of the most hotly-anticipated new acquisitions coming to Global on Thursdays this fall is Matlock, starring Oscar® winner Kathy Bates as Madeline “Matty” Matlock, a brilliant septuagenarian who achieved success in her younger years and decides to rejoin the workforce at a prestigious law firm where she uses her unassuming demeanour and wily tactics to win cases. Matty is assigned to Olympia (Skye P. Marshall), a senior attorney and key rainmaker with a thirst for justice. Olympia’s ex-husband, Julian (Jason Ritter), the son of the head of the firm, is intrigued by Matty and her clever skills. As Matty endeavours to establish herself in her new high-stakes world, she works alongside the firm’s younger associates – the charismatic Billy (David Del Rio) and the uber ambitious Sarah (Leah Lewis).

Next comes NCIS: Origins, the latest installment in the blockbuster hit NCIS franchise. Airing Monday nights, NCIS: Origins follows a young Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Austin Stowell) in 1991, years prior to the events of NCIS, and is narrated by Mark Harmon. In the series, Gibbs starts his career as a newly minted special agent at the fledgling NCIS Camp Pendleton office where he forges his place on a gritty, ragtag team led by NCIS legend Mike Franks (Kyle Schmid).

The crime-solving doesn’t stop on Global with the latest addition to Wednesday nights, Murder in a Small Town, based on L.R. Wright’s acclaimed thirteen-book Karl Alberg series and stars Rossif Sutherland and Kristin Kreuk. It follows the titular character (played by Sutherland), who moves to a quiet coastal town, filmed in beautiful British Columbia, to escape the stress of big-city police work, but soon discovers that the seemingly idyllic town harbours dark secrets, and he must use his detective skills to solve a series of murders.

Then, big laughs are also on the Global schedule Monday nights with Poppa’s House, starring Damon Wayans and Damon Wayans Jr. Wayans stars as legendary radio host and happily divorced “Poppa” who has his point of view challenged at work when a new female co-host (Essence Atkins) is hired, and at home where he finds himself still parenting his adult son (Damon Wayans Jr.), a brilliant dreamer who is trying to pursue his passion while being a responsible father and husband.

RETURNING PRIMETIME SERIES FOR FALL 2024

NEW PRIMETIME SERIES FOR MID-SEASON

Global’s mid-season lineup kicks off with Watson. Taking place a year after the death of his friend and partner Sherlock Holmes at the hands of Moriarty, Dr. John Watson (Morris Chestnut) resumes his medical career as the head of a clinic dedicated to treating rare disorders. Watson’s old life isn’t done with him, though – Moriarty and Watson are set to write their own chapter of a story that has fascinated audiences for more than a century. Watson is a medical show with a strong investigative spine, featuring a modern version of one of history’s greatest detectives as he turns his attention from solving crimes to solving medical mysteries.

Then, Doc follows the hard-charging Chief of Internal Medicine Dr. Amy Larsen (Molly Parker). After a brain injury erases the last eight years of her life, Amy must navigate an unfamiliar world where she has no recollection of patients she’s treated, colleagues she’s crossed, the man she loves, or the tragedy that caused her to push everyone away. Scott Wolf is featured in a recurring role as Dr. Richard Miller. An attending physician, Richard is uptight, ambitious, and afraid to admit mistakes.

Next up is the return of the iconic game show Hollywood Squares, which features two contestants playing tic-tac-toe to win money and prizes. The “board” for the game is a vertical stack of open-faced cubes, each occupied by a celebrity seated at a desk and facing the contestants. The celebrities are asked questions and the contestants judge the legitimacy of their answers to win the game. Award-winning actress and daytime’s #1 talk show host Drew Barrymore will take her place as the famed “centre square” answering questions for the contestants.

The upcoming 2022/2023 programming line-up for the Corus family of networks have been announced and they’re back and bigger than ever with several returning favourites and new programming, both on their networks and available for streaming!

A new streaming service from Corus called PLUTO TV launches in Canada this Fall. It will house 100 unique, curated channels and over 20,000 hours of content, the service will offer a full spectrum of free programming including drama, comedy, lifestyle, kids, movies, around-the-clock news, and more.

NEW FALL PRIMETIME SERIES

Global’s first new pick-up joining the fall lineup is the much talked about light-hearted drama So Help Me Todd, which stars Academy Award winner Marcia Gay Harden as razor-sharp, meticulous attorney Margaret Wright (Harden), who hires her talented, but scruffy and aimless, son Todd (Astin) as her law firm’s in-house investigator.

Then, in Fire Country, former SEAL Team star Max Thieriot plays Bode Donovan, a young convict seeking redemption and a shortened prison sentence by joining an unconventional prison release firefighting program in Northern California, where he and other inmates are partnered with elite firefighters to extinguish massive, unpredictable wildfires across the region.

Next up, Monarch is a sweeping, multi-generational music drama about America’s first family of country music starring Academy Award winner Sarandon, multi-Platinum country music star and three-time Academy of Country Music (ACM) Award winner Trace Adkins and Golden Globe nominee Anna Friel, as they stop at nothing to protect their family’s legacy.

In addition, love is in the air on Global this fall with the new reality romance adventure The Real Love Boat, inspired by the classic hit scripted series The Love Boat, which brings singles together to travel the Mediterranean on a luxury cruise ship while looking for love. Destination dates, challenges and surprise singles will test the couples’ compatibility and chemistry as they navigate the romantic (and sometimes turbulent) waters ahead.

Also moving to Global’s comedy lineup this fall, entering its third season, Home Economics stars Topher Grace and takes a look at the heartwarming yet super uncomfortable and sometimes frustrating relationship between three adult siblings: one in the 1%, one middle-class and one barely holding on.

Romance caps off the night with new reality show The Real Love Boat – a steamy reimagining of the iconic scripted series.

THURSDAYS
Thursdays on Global this fall feature some of network TV’s biggest shows and gets started with laughs from The Neighborhood followed by the return of last fall’s #1 new comedy Ghosts**.Then, one of the most talked about new shows – the quick-witted dramedy So Help Me Todd – makes its debut. Over on TELETOON, hilarious comedy, unexpected surprises and edge-of-your-seat action ensues through best-in-class animation. Food Network Canada 

A Top 10 specialty network** and the ultimate culinary destination, Food Network Canada satisfies appetites with the renewal of five standout original series as part of its lineup. 

Food Network Canada’s new greenlights include the most prestigious culinary competition series in the country and a Top 20 overall specialty entertainment program in spring ‘21*** Top Chef Canada,which is making its return for a milestone 10^th season. In the serialized series, a new roster of talented professional chefs will compete in high-octane challenges for the sought-after title of Canada’s Top Chef. The competitions continue with Season 3 of the larger-than-life themed baking series The Big Bake (7×60 Halloween and 7×60 holiday-theme) from Corus Studios. Celebrated YouTube personality and cookbook author Danni Rose joins the panel of resident judges alongside host Brad Smith, chef and author Eddie Jackson and acclaimed pastry chef Ron Ben-Israel. A Top 10 program on Food Network Canada this spring****, Corus Studios’ Great Chocolate Showdown (8×60) returns with more delectable ooey-gooey creations in its fourth season.

The HISTORY Channel 

The HISTORY Channel comes to life this year with more new original content than ever before. The network’s slate is set to offer a slew of factual and unscripted content including the renewal of five Corus Studios hit series and two groundbreaking documentaries that are sure to educate and entertain audiences.  

In honour of Canada’s National Day of Truth and Reconciliation, a new two-hour documentary sheds light on the history of the relationship between Indigenous people and settlers. True Story (2×60) offers a critical lens to the past, revealing some shameful and heartbreaking truths, as well as uplifting and inspiring hope.  

For Remembrance Day, Our War (2×60) uncovers stories about extraordinary individuals who made heroic contributions to WWI and WWII. From the descendent of one of Canada’s first Black servicemen, to the great-grand-nephew of a female intelligence officer stationed at Bletchley Park, the documentary follows these descendant’s investigations into their families’ historic pasts. 

New from Corus Studios this fall is previously announced series Deadman’s Curse (8×60), following a diverse team of explorers on a quest to find a legendary cursed gold mine in B.C. Fan-favourite Corus Studios series Backroad Truckers (Season 2, 8×60), Big Timber (Season 3, 8×60), Lost Car Rescue (Season 2, 6×60), and Rust Valley Restorers (Season 5, 8×60) all return this year, along with Salvage Kings (Season 3, 8×60), which sees Ted taking the ultimate risk of opening his own salvage business with a team of familiar and new faces. 

HGTV Canada 

HGTV Canada is the nation’s destination for all things home. With 12 Corus Studios series upcoming, including seven returning favourites, HGTV Canada continues to be the go-to network for inspiring and heart-warming programming that fits any style.  

The #1 Canadian Specialty series*****, Island of Bryan (8×60) continues with new episodes this fall, with even more Baeumler adventures upcoming. Corus is prepping a new Untitled Baeumler Project (working title) (10×60) in development and slated for 2023, plus Bryan will team up with co-host Scott McGillivray in the new previously announced competition series Renovation Resort (7×60). The frenemies oversee four talented contractor/design duos as they each transform a waterfront cabin into a one-of-a-kind vacation rental for a chance to win a $100,000 prize. Viewers will see Scott reunited with Debra Salmoni in Season 4 Scott’s Vacation House Rules (14×60), which is newly greenlit. 

Sarah Richardson takes on her own vacation rental challenge this fall in the previously announced Sarah’s Mountain Escape (10×60). The series follows Sarah and her husband, Alexander Younger, as they transform a run-down B&B in Whistler, B.C. into a four-season luxury vacation rental property. Another West coast-based design and renovation series is Pamela Anderson in Pamela’s Garden of Eden (8×60). The previously announced series, coming this fall, follows Pamela as she revitalizes her grandmother’s six-acre legacy property on Vancouver Island into a stunning retreat. Another new personality to the network is no-nonsense luxury home designer Ali Budd, who leads a creative team to renovate and build incredible million-dollar renovations in Ali Budd (working title) (8×60).  

Off the heels of their series premieres, Sebastian Clovis will offer more empathy and experience to overwhelmed homeowners in Season 2 of Gut Job (8×60), while the cross-Canada renovators from Hoarder House Flippers (8×60) will return to tackle a new batch of disaster houses in a brand new season. W Network spotlights the prolific career of sex educator Sue Johanson in Sex with Sue (1×90), directed by Lisa Rideout.Viewers will be reintroduced to the former W Network personality and see the unexpected and exciting ways her legacy lives on today.  

Corus Studios dives deeper into scripted content with the previously announced set of romantic movies The Love Club (4x120min). The movies follow four women, each dealing with their own dating debacle, who take a vow to call on one another if they are ever in romantic trouble again – a vow that has them resurrecting their “Love Club” ten years later as each of them search for their unique happily-ever-after. The first movie is set to premiere on W Network Winter 2023. The movies will be distributed through Corus Studios. 

ADULT SWIM 

 Corus is pleased to announce its second Canadian original series for Adult Swim, the popular network that offers an unexpected blend of authenticity, originality, and cleverness. The animated Red Ketchup (20×30), commissioned and greenlit by Corus’ French channel Télétoon la nuit, is based on the cult Quebec comic book series from the ‘80s of the same name. Featuring FBI’s crazed rogue agent, Steve “Red” Ketchup, the series will premiere in Canada on both Télétoon la nuit and in English on Adult Swim in 2023. Plus, the previously announced first Canadian original series for Adult Swim, Psi Cops (24×11), is set to premiere on Adult Swim Winter 2023. “Top” detectives Agent Kydd and Agent Felixx, of the secret agency Psi Cops, investigate spiritual phenomena, extraterrestrial life, and paranormal activity using their overly competent incompetence.

KIDS 

NELVANA  
Nelvana continues to deliver premium entertainment for kids with compelling storylines and characters, by nurturing creator-driven projects and best-in-class partnerships.  

The previously announced Best & Bester (52×11) is set to premiere this fall on YTV. A co-production between Nelvana, Eye Present and Gigglebug Entertainment, the series follows two siblings and best friends obsessed with comparing the best things of all time while enjoying the power to transform themselves into anything they want, once a day – if only they can figure out what the best thing to be actually is! 

More fresh content from Nelvana landing on Corus’ kids networks this fall includes new episodes of Super Wish (52×11) on YTV, produced by Nelvana and Discovery’s joint venture, redknot, and created by Nelvana’s own Vanessa Esteves and Daytime Emmy® Award winning art director, Adrian Thatcher. Plus, new episodes of Bakugan: Evolutions (26×22) will bring epic action to TELETOON. Then, everyone’s favourite P.U.R.S.T. agents continue the adventure with new episodes of the second season of Agent Binky: Pets of the Universe (52×11). Produced by redknot, the series is based on the best-selling books by Ashley Spires, published by Corus Entertainment’s Kids Can Press. Also returning to the network is a new season of Thomas & Friends: All Engines Go! (52×11), accompanied by a brand new special with the beloved engines Thomas & Friends: All Engines Go! Mystery at Lookout Mountain (1×60). 

YTV 

YTV is the place to be for non-stop Fam Fun! Reaching more kids in its afterschool time block than any other kids station****** The Zone is delivering another year of cool contests, celeb interviews, games and sketches alongside The Zone Weekend and Big Fun Movies.Beloved hosts Spencer, Alex and Duhin return, plus new host Melony will make her on-air debut on June 6 on The Zone.  

Premiering on YTV in 2023, Popularity Papers(26×30) is the first scripted series to be announced since Corus became a majority stakeholder in the Academy Award® and Emmy Award®-nominated production company Aircraft Pictures. From Aircraft Pictures and WexWorks Media, the live-action comedy series, developed for television by Amanda Brooke Perrin and showrunner Vivian Lin, is based on the award-winning middle-grade book series by Amy Ignatow. The series tells the story of two best friends, Lydia Goldblatt and Julie Graham-Chang, who are on a mission to crack the popularity code and dismantle this crazy social construct for middle-schoolers everywhere. Using the scientific method, the girls conduct social experiments on their peers with hilarious results.

Making the most of this Pandemic, Corus unveiled some of their key new Dramas premiering this Fall on their family of networks! Select Media were invited to the Preview at brand-new CityView Drive-In at 20 Polson Street to preview new offerings including new Series neXt (Global), Devils (W Network) and Brave New World (Showcase).

DEVILS stars Patrick Dempsey and Alessandro Borghi, taking us into the dark world of millionaire bankers. The stylish London-set Series premieres Wednesday, September 16, 2020 on W Network. More here.

The 2019 Corus Upfront took place today in Toronto with several stars in town to unveil the media giant’s fall lineup. Among the surprises was Beverly Hills, 90210‘s much-hyped Reboot BH90210 getting a premiere date, Thursday, August 7, 2019 at 9 PM as announced in a video by Canada’s Jason Priestley. They had the chance to mix and mingle with the stars who represent a vast range of programming ranging from Slice, newly-launched 24-hour adult cartoon betwork Adult Swim and core network Global.

Also announced was STACKTV, a new Television channel package available to Amazon Prime members in Canada, giving them access to hit Series from twelve Corus networks: Global, Food Network Canada, HGTV Canada, W Network, HISTORY®, Adult Swim, Slice, Showcase, National Geographic, Teletoon, Treehouse and YTV broadcast live and on-demand.

W Network and Showcase announced they will be home to these exciting acquisitions: Batwoman, Pearson, Nancy Drew, Katy Keene, Pennyworth, Party of Five and Swamp Thing. Returning for them are fan favourites Supergirl, Charmed, Outlander, The Good Fight, The Sinner, Legacies and many more.

ET Canada is set to embark in its 15th season on Global as Canada’s Most-Followed Entertainment Show. One of the Series’ personalities Carlos Bustamante hosted today’s Influencers and Media event.

Corus Specialty Networks also will be bringing back popular Series like Island of Bryan, Property Brothers, Vikings, Top Chef Canada and Home to Win, among others.

The party continued at Evergreen Brickworks where potential advertisers got a chance to see sneak peeks at some of the Corus programming where their products and services will be paired beside this Fall.

No other Internet-based Series has taken the World by storm like ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK! The Series which we were so excited about last year recently has returned again for a second Season via Netflix and everyone we know is binge-watching it.

Stars Taylor Schilling and Uzo Aduba, the former playing the Lead Role of Piper Chapman, the latter playing Suzanne “Crazy Eyes” Warren, are two of the Series’ most beloved Characters.  Both were in Toronto today to promote the new Season of the Dramedy, based on the Memoir of the same name by Piper Kerman.

Starting their day early arriving via a Loading Dock at KISS 92.5 before 7:00 AM,  Fans, some who got-up earlier than 5:00 AM to see their Idols up-close, were left disappointed as the Duo and their Entourage drove-off without so much as a wave.  Schilling and Aduba then head east-bound to CTV‘s Canada AM in Scarborough, encountering traffic unfortunately, resulting in their arriving at their Global Television The Morning Show (National Edition) appearance at least twenty minutes late.  When leaving, their Entourage once again opted for a hidden entrance, leaving Fans who came supportive with Posters and 8×10s from the Show, saddened at the snubs.

On the contrary, Media Reports found the Duo warm and friendly, many praising an unrecognizable Aduba particularly as being “warm”.  Some speculate that Schilling simply was carrying-out requests from her reportedly “stern-faced” Publicist, which saw multiple local outlets, which normally are in-the-loop, denied access to the two Stars.  For the record, we have met the lovely Schilling before and found her to be kind at TIFF ’13 when she came to promote Stay.  So what gives?  Is a couple minutes out of a Press Day too much to ask for at this stage in the game for the Fans?

Model/Actress/Director and Spokesperson Shenae Grimes-Beech needs little introduction as Toronto long has been proud of its Homegirl. The Star of 90210 and Degrassi: The Next Generation has kept busy with a string of work including recently Toronto-filmed Final Exam, in which she stars opposite Pretty Little Liars’ Keegan Allen.

Grimes-Beech is in Toronto right now, carrying out duties as Spokesperson for Montreal-originated Annabelle Cosmetics. Tonight, she celebrates her Collaboration with the Company at an exclusive Party with Beauty Bloggers on Bay Street.

Appearing on City‘s Breakfast Television and Global Television‘s The Morning Show (National Edition), she maintained her poise despite the miserable rains, looking flawless with her peach-coloured locks tied neatly into a bun.  Note how she is wearing her Jacket – arms-free – a trend we noticed on It-Girl Nicola Peltz, Star of Transformers: Age of Extinction, the other day in Toronto too!

Iconic Entertainer Sandra Bernhard is back in-town, bringing her Sandyland Show to the Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts tonight and tomorrow. Known for her gritty brand of Humour, the Michigan-born Funnywoman rose to fame with her biting critique of Pop Culture and Politics.

Speaking of Politics, will she be poking-fun at Toronto Mayor Rob Ford at her Show?  “The poor Guy’s been beaten up… He’s a bit of a mess”, she says to Dina Pugliese on CITY‘s Breakfast Television earlier this morning.  Bernhard comments also on Social Media, when she realized she wanted to be a Comedienne and her Daughter also in the Interview.  Watch here.

Shortly after, she made her way north to Global Television‘s The Morning Show (National Edition), where she co-hosted today. Although she was in a rush going live-to-air, she fulfilled her promise coming out afterwards, graciously signing some Autographs and posing for Photos before heading to her next Taping.
