There couldn’t have been a better choice! Saturday Night Live Alumni Seth Meyers officially has been named to take-over hosting responsibilities for Jimmy Fallon on NBC‘s popular Late Night Franchise. He is preceeded by TV Greats like David Letterman, Conan O’Brien and Jay Leno.
The Transition begins next February after the completion of NBC‘s Winter Olympics Coverage in Russia. Likewise, Jimmy Fallon at that time will be transitioning over to host The Tonight Show, taking the reins from Jay Leno, as announced previously. Meyers begins preparations in January, after appearing on the first-half of the forthcoming season of Saturday Night Live, which he has been a part of for 12 seasons already.
We actually spotted Seth Meyers out partying at the Met Gala last week in New York City with his Girlfriend Alexi Ashe and were one of the lucky few who got a Pic with him! Amazing Guy!

Saturday Night Live Alumni Kristen Wiig has been absent and trust me, it seems like it’s been forever. As a real SNL Fan, her absence has been felt! The Funnywoman returned last night for her first time ever hosting and Friends like Jonah Hill, Paul Rudd and a v. pregnant Maya Rudolph even came out to show their support at the NBC Studios in New York City.
Opening the Show with a rendition of The Pointer Sisters‘ I’m So Excited, poking fun at how everything’s changed at the Studio in just eleven months, Wiig gave the Episode some much-needed connection to seasons past, with so many new faces on the Show this Season. Although most of last night’s Show was comprised of Sketches which brought back some of her best Characters throughout the years, the highlights were definitely the Video Sketches.
With it being Mother’s Day, Wiig paid tribute to the occasion and particularly good was a 1-800-Flowers Parody Sketch pairing her with recent addition Kate McKinnon (and worthy Successor!) as her irritating but beloved Mom.
See it below:
You also cannot miss this Korean Horror-inspired Sketch for a new Disney Show:
Of course, she had to bring back those famous mini doll hands for fictitious The Lawrence Welk Show:

In an exciting weekend at the Box Office, two heavy Hollywood Blockbusters were pitted against one another – Iron Man 3, catering more towards a male audience, and The Great Gatsby, catering towards a more female audience. Alas, it is the Man of Iron who prevails with $72.4 million in its second week after an explosive $174 million opening in North America. In two short weeks, it has grossed $284 million domestically.
Not to be shamed, The Great Gatsby debuts in second with an equally stellar $51.1 million for Warner Bros. from 3,535 theatres. Although Critics had mixed feelings about the F. Scott Fitzgerald Adaptation with a 48% rating on Rotten Tomatoes’ Tomatometer, audiences gave it a B CinemaScore, which shouldn’t hurt it. Also, the fact that it is Mother’s Day surely helps with its numbers.
Former number one Pain & Gain slips to third this weekend for Paramount Pictures, earning $5 million in a v. distant third place. To date it has grossed $41 million domestically.
Debuting uncharacteristically low in fourth with $4.8 million from 2,041 theatres is Tyler Perry‘s latest Peeples, starring Kerry Washington. The Comedy is the only other wide release to open this weekend and earned a B- CinemaScore and also a 37% rating on the Tomatometer.
In fifth is 42, another former number one Film, with $4.6 million for Warner Bros. in its fourth week of release. In its four week run, the Jackie Robinson Biopic has grossed $84.7 million.
Rounding out the Top Ten are Matthew McConaughey and Reese Witherspoon Drama Mud with $2.3 million – the Film opens soon in Canada via eOne Films – and the valiant Oz The Great and Powerful with $802k in its TENTH week of release for Disney.
One Man, eight Presidents. The Butler tells the True Story of Cecil Gains (played by both Aml Ameen, Forest Whitaker), who served eight Presidents between 1952 and 1986, having a front-row seat as political and racial History was made in the United States. The Film marks Oprah Winfrey‘s big return to the Big Screen, playing the pivotal role of Gloria Gaines, his Wife.
Lee Daniels (Precious, The Paperboy) features an All-Star Cast including Liev Schreiber, Robin Williams, Mariah Carey, David Oyelowo, Alex Pettyfer, Alan Rickman, Terrence Howard, Cuba Gooding Jr., John Cusack, Melissa Leo, Lenny Kravitz, Minka Kelly, James Marsden and several more.
Seen widely as a Contender at the Oscars, the The Weinstein Co. Film originally was to get an October release, but gets pushed-back to August 16, 2013, meaning no TIFF Premiere unfortunately!

Finally! Right in time for the release of The Great Gatsby, Lana Del Rey releases her brand new Video for its Theme, Young & Beautiful. Directed by Sophie Muller, the Video looks an early ’80s Homage to the ’20s. Del Rey is a vision of beauty and elegance, shimmery tears affixed on that stunning face of hers, full Orchestra accompanying. I’ll admit I was expecting a Video with clips from the Film, but this on its own is simple and classic.

So damn excited about this! After missing my chance to see it at TIFF last September, Kristen Wiig‘s latest Film Imogene – now re-titled Girl Most Likely – soon gets a release. The Comedy (obviously!) centers around a Playwright Imogene (Wiig) who goes from being potentially huge to yesterday’s news. She must return back home to New Jersey out of financial necessity and come to terms with accepting her roots and embracing her Family in order to get back to New York.
See the Trailer below:

I know I freak-out every time Mariah Carey releases a new Track, even if it isn’t that great, but really this time it’s really legit solid! The Diva teams with Alternative-R&B Sensation Miguel on #Beautiful, a Summer-inspired Ballad which has a bit of a rhythmic edge. It feels classic, yet at the same time its production and performances make it feel unmistakably current.
The Video, directed by Joseph Kahn (yes, the Man who directed Britney Spears’ Toxic), helms and uses his keen sense of light to make a euphoric experience. If Nick Cannon doesn’t mind this chemistry, then I guess we don’t either!
Certain to be one of the Hits of Summer 2013 and just what Carey that much-needed 19th #1!

Such a complete delight partaking in the festivities of the 2013 Costume Institute Gala (Met Gala) this year in New York City. The Gala celebrates the Metropolitan Museum‘s annual opening of the Fashion Exhibit at the Costume Institute, bringing together the Worlds of Film, Music and Fashion. Although it’s 6:00 AM and I have yet to sleep a wink, I’ve had a blast chasing the Stars and enjoying the Fashions, celebrating the theme of Punk! Although some were faithful to it, there were also several diversions, resulting in a large variety to the eye.
Yes, it was surreal being an arm’s length from Madonna who looked fun and edgy in her Cleopatra Hair and seeing Natalie Portman clash at once with her on the Red Carpet with her, only for her to acquiesce and let the reigning Queen of Pop shine in her metallic Givenchy Haute Couture Dress. I am still in awe of Beyoncé‘s marvelous Givenchy Gown, which drew the most applause from Onlookers who lined the streets for a glimpse outside the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA). Or how about getting an air kiss from this year’s Host Rooney Mara after telling her how much I admire her work? And I cannot deny how surreal it was seeing Sofia Coppola walk arm-in-arm with Marc Jacobs – two of my favourite People! Or how about witnessing a warm embrace between Girls Star/Writer/Producer Lena Dunham and equally brilliant Mindy Kaling? And did I mention I accidentally stepped-on Jessica Alba‘s dress?
The Parties continued well into the morning, with the main event taking place at The Standard Hotel, where the likes of Jennifer Lawrence, Rita Ora, Cara Delevingne, Madonna, Katy Perry, Carey Mulligan and a newly-blonde Anne Hathaway, stirred-up some madness. Lawrence in particular raised a frenzy among Fans and Paparazzi alike, zipping along with tactical speed into her SUV.
See a Montage below of Clips I took from the Evening. You won’t believe how crazy things got for Jennifer Lawrence!
