Having sold 200 million albums worldwide and winning five Grammy Awards, Mariah Carey continues to be a master of her craft. The international superstar took the stage at Sony Centre for the Performing Arts as part of her Caution Tour, in support of the acclaimed 2018 Album – her 15th – of the same name.
Carey played to a near-capacity crowd giving fans an intimate experience with some of the larger arenas she normally plays, being booked already. Her abbreviated 90-minute set includes a mixture of material, older and current. For the first time on-tour, she performed music in what’s been coined the Justice for Glitter set, featuring songs from that panned Film which many fans feel was overlooked in terms of its Soundtrack.
Carey had the support of her twins Roc and Roe, who joined her on-stage for Always Be My Baby. Her partner, Choreographer/Dancer Bryan Tanaka also joins her on-tour.
Following the show, Carey in a kimono and sunglasses, came out of the venue with bodyguards holding umbrellas telling fans, “I’ll come over if you stop filming” , and she delivered her promise signing some autographs with ample protection at her side.

2018 will go down as one of the best years in recent Cinema. While I’m not loving the current sound of what’s dominating the airwaves, there were a few Pop Gems that filled my heart and ears with joy. Those of you who are following me on Social Media know that my year was all about A STAR IS BORN. I had few expectations of it at the beginning of the year, but then came the Trailer in June and then came news of it premiering at TIFF ’18. Seeing it at the Festival, my year and life would be changed forever, single-handedly owning my two favourite realms, Music and Film. I am still not healed of the heartbreak I experience and can imagine what it’s like to be Lady Gaga or Bradley Cooper and carrying their characters with them after filming. If you still haven’t seen it, please do.
We loved the resurgence of the Musical with the likes of Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, Bohemian Rhapsody and Mary Poppins Returns performing v. well in numbers. The World needs a lift in spirits and these all came to save the day at the right time.
Music wise, we are ever-excited about Dua Lipa‘s blooming career and she has gifted us with several earworms which still stand the test of time at the end of year. While there wasn’t really a big single off it, Mariah Carey‘s critically-acclaimed Caution is definitely a smooth, cohesive listen. Cardi B‘s Invasion of Privacy gave us life in a big way this spring and likewise, there wasn’t one particular 2018 single which impacted us, the Album was on repeat for quite a while for us.
Here are my Best of 2018 Lists:
One Kiss – Calvin Harris ft. Dua Lipa
The Middle – zedd ft. Maren Morris
Electricity – Silk City ft. Dua Lipa
I’ll Never Love Again – Lady Gaga
Shallow – Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga
God is a Woman – Ariana Grande
Breathin – Ariana Grande
Lights Down Low – M△X
Nothing Breaks Like a Heart – Mark Ronson ft. Miley Cyrus
Youngblood – 5 Seconds of Summer

Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again
Crazy Rich Asians

A Quiet Place

We’ve been at this game for what is approaching our tenth year and we’re showing no signs of stopping. We are indebted to you, our Readers for all the support and love you’ve shown all these years and we’ll never forget being named NOW Magazine Readers’ Choice Best Blogger this year. Thank you. Mariah Carey is one of the few musical artists we’ve been loyal to since the start. CAUTION is the Diva’s 15th Studio Disc and perhaps a pinnacle in artistic growth for her. Dark, moody and mysterious, the ten-track Collection sounds ‘now’ (there’s even a reference to Barbra Streisand and A Star is Born on Giving Me Life!), with the comfort of her vocals which are understated here. Her ‘whistle’ register is used sparingly for atmosphere and mood than to punctuate a song and that is refreshing. We see Blockbuster names like Timbaland, Skrillex, Jermaine Dupri and The Stereotypes contributing to production. The Disc magically still is cohesive and a singular experience despite these diverse talents, demonstrating Mariah‘s strong artistic direction.
In a rare move, Mariah has made the album available to listen to completely on YouTube and we are sharing it with you for a listen. The Disc entrances you and we keep hearing new things every time we go through it.
We don’t deny that we miss a more commercial Mariah, but no one can take away her superior catalog of work that we grew-up loving.

Toronto went Mariah Carazzzyy tonight as a portion of Queen Street was shut down to celebrate the unveiling of both Hudson’s Bay and Saks Fifth Avenue’s Holiday Windows. Here for a quick in-and-out performance was a newly-single Mariah Carey, international megastar and diva incomparable. She performed a festive two-song set for the eager crowd which queued several hours, piling from the two stores’ joint entrance to Eaton Centre, to be a part of the rare occasion.
Performing right before 8:00 PM, Carey delivered a rendition of Here Comes Santa Claus and also cheerful perennial holiday classic All I Want for Christmas is You on a red and green LED-lit stage. The performance was capped-off with fireworks and confetti before the pumped-up crowd were encouraged by Carey (paid a reported $1 million for the visit) to do some shopping! Both stores extended their hours till 11 PM for the occasion with treats and activations set up for the night.
Carey did a bit of shopping in a private guided tour earlier in the day as photographers snapped her browsing about. For her performance, she wore a satin gown in a festive red with a splash of her fave, pink.

I hate to say it, but Mariah Carey makes her best Music when she’s heartbroken. Such is the case with new Single INFINITY from her brand-new Greatest Hits Disc, #1 TO INFINITY. As is the case, Mariah always makes Music for the Fans first. Not her best, but definitely one of her better Tracks in recent years and that’s something to start as L.A. Reid takes the reins again on this first release from Epic/Sony.

Okay I was neither here nor there about James Corden hosting THE LATE LATE SHOW, but I’m completely won over! Mariah Carey appeared on the Show last night and somehow Corden managed to get her into his Van not only for a heart-to-heart chat, but also a majorly awesome SINGALONG!
That’s basically my entire life dream right there. SINGING IN A FRICKIN’ CAR. WITH MARIAH CAREY. WITH HAND MOVEMENTS.
Almost as good is Tom Hanks‘ appearance earlier in the week where both he and Corden re-enacted in seven minutes every single Movie Hanks ever has made!
THE LATE LATE SHOW with JAMES CORDEN airs weeknights at 12:35 AM EST on CBS.
We’ve all been waiting for it! After blowing our minds last year in teaming-up with Miguel on #BEAUTIFUL, Megastar and multi-GRAMMY Winner Mariah Carey bringsit with new Single You’re Mine (Eternal) right in-time for Valentine’s Day! The Track freshens-up Mariah‘s sound and slowing things down with a moody bit of Electronica, reminiscent melodically of We Belong Together.
Does it pack that same emotional punch? Not quite. Some of Mariah’s best Tracks have beentingle-inducing and something feels a bit detached here. I do always find a way to love Mariah‘s Tracks regardless even though we’re not quite sure she’s going with this Track. I’m sure this will be the same after you check-in with me in a day! Carey premiered the Track live at BET Honors, to air Monday, February 24, 2014.
Carey on Monday also confirmed that her 14th Studio Disc, titled tentatively The Art of Letting Go, will hit stores on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 after multiple delays due to Carey‘s self-admission it wasn’t ready, to a shoulder/arm injury last Summer filming a Remix Video to #BEAUTIFUL.
Mariah Carey after a long tease, finally releases her brand new Single, The Art of Letting Go. The Track co-produced by Rodney Jerkins and Jermaine Dupri, features an Orchestra conducted by Larry Gold, turning-out to be a grand affair! Although she took a bit of time to regroup in the Studio after planning to release her upcoming Disc earlier in the year, this was well worth the wait after she and Miguel took our breath away with the underrated and outstanding #Beautiful!
The Track is a mid-tempo Ballad – soulful and considerably more reserved than the Carey we’re accustomed to. There is something incredibly Elton John-esque about it.
“I just want it to mean what it means to you. Music has saved my life and there’s certain things I can’t let go of and I try so hard. And I know there’s other people in the World that feel the same way”, says Carey. “If there’s just a person that I help get through a situation with this Song, then that makes my life and it makes me know I can get through pretty much anything.”.
