Today, Prime Video released the official trailer for Australian Original series The Narrow Road to the Deep North, which will premiere in Australia, New Zealand and Canada on April 18, 2025. The five-part series presented by Amazon MGM Studios has been produced by Curio Pictures. The Narrow Road to the Deep North is based on Richard Flanagan’s Booker Prize-winning novel of the same name and has been adapted for screen by writer Shaun Grant (Nitram and Snowtown) and directed by Justin Kurzel (The Order and Nitram). The new Australian series premiered last month at the Berlinale Film Festival to stellar international reviews.
Jacob Elordi (Euphoria, Saltburn, Priscilla) leads an Australian and international all-star cast, alongside Ciarán Hinds (Belfast), with Odessa Young (Mothering Sunday, Shirley), Olivia DeJonge (Elvis), Heather Mitchell (Love Me, Upright), Show Kasamatsu, Thomas Weatherall (Heartbreak High), and Simon Baker (Limbo, Breath).
Filmed in New South Wales, Australia, The Narrow Road to the Deep North is a savagely beautiful five-part series charting the life of Dorrigo Evans (played by Jacob Elordi as a young man, with Ciarán Hinds as the older Dorrigo), through his passionate love affair with Amy Mulvaney (Odessa Young), his time held captive in a POW camp, and his later years spent as a revered surgeon and reluctant war hero.
The Narrow Road to the Deep North is an intimate character study of a complex man, a compelling portrayal of the courage and cruelty of war, and an unforgettable love story that sustains one through the darkest of times.
The Narrow Road to the Deep North is produced by Curio Pictures, and distributed internationally by Sony Pictures Television. Jo Porter and Rachel Gardner from Curio Pictures executive produce. Richard Flanagan, Shaun Grant and Justin Kurzel are also executive producers with Alexandra Taussig serving as producer.
The series will be distributed internationally by Sony Pictures Television. Principal production funding is provided by Screen Australia, with assistance from the NSW Government through Screen NSW’s Made in NSW and PDV Funds.
Since 2019, Prime Video has commissioned 30 Australian Original series and features in Australia—The Test S1-3, Making Their Mark, LOL: Last One Laughing Australia with Rebel Wilson, Back to the Rafters, Luxe Listings Sydney S1 – S3, award-winning feature-length documentary Burning, The Moth Effect, Head Above Water, Kick Like Tayla, Warriors On The Field, Class of ’07, Deadloch S1 & S2, The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart, Dance Life, the lifestyle special Hugh van Cuylenburg: G.E.M, a series of ten stand-up comedy specials, Neighbours, Hot Potato: The Story of the Wiggles, Five Blind Dates, The Office and the upcoming The Narrow Road to the Deep North and Top End Bub.

First-look images are now available for Disneynature’s “Sea Lions of the Galapagos,” streaming on Disney+ beginning April 22, 2025. Narrated by Brendan Fraser, the stunning feature film introduces Leo, a handsome sea lion pup who’s learning how to navigate life alongside his mother, Luna.
“It was crucial for our story that Leo was an adventurer, and when the team encountered one particular pup, we knew we had our star,” said director Hugh Wilson. “Regularly supplied with lots of milk by his devoted mum, Luna, Leo was full of energy and keen to make his mark on the world. Full of character from day one, he was constantly up to no good—getting into sticky situations.
“Working with Brendan was an honour, and he delivered a great performance with the narration,” continued Wilson. “He was able to convey a range of emotions from high-stakes drama and important factual content to intimate comedic moments. He was particularly strong in regard to the comedy—a crucial ingredient for Disneynature films—and it was great to see him really lean into those moments.”
Following swimming lessons, fishing expeditions and some growing up, Leo eventually leaves his mother’s colony to find his own home—male sea lions must fight to earn the best spots, and only the strongest will become beachmasters. Leo’s lifelong quest is fraught with challenges and filled with new encounters with an array of creatures, from marine iguanas and racer snakes to yellow fin tuna and huge Galapagos sharks. The archipelago is Leo’s playground—overland and underwater—but he must stay vigilant to find his place in the world. Disneynature’s “Sea Lions of the Galapagos” is directed by Wilson, co-directed by Keith Scholey, and produced by Wilson, Scholey and Roy Conli, the all-new adventure features music by composer Raphaelle Thibaut.
ALSO STREAMING APRIL 22
Narrated by Blair Underwood, Disneynature’s “Guardians of the Galapagos” goes behind the scenes with the crew of “Sea Lions of the Galapagos” to showcase not just the production of a film, but the world that inspired it. In their quest to relay the story of a young sea lion pup named Leo, the Disneynature team battles seasickness, searing heat and extreme diving conditions. Their efforts, however, are rewarded, capturing rarely seen sea lion behaviors—from playful pups and surfing teenagers to adult bulls hunting gigantic yellowfin tuna.
“‘Guardians of the Galapagos’ is a family-friendly voyage of discovery around a magical group of islands,” said director Tash Filer. “Viewers can expect to meet weird and wonderful animals, experience the behind-the-scenes adventures of a natural history film crew, and feel inspired by the extraordinary efforts of the local community to preserve the Galapagos for the next generation.”
Global challenges threaten the archipelago, including invasive species, pollution, illegal fishing and increasingly frequent El Niño events. The film spotlights the growing community of champions—the true Guardians of the Galapagos—who work to protect the islands, supporting environmental campaigns, cleaning beaches, restoring corals and helping local children experience this magical place. Directed by Filer and produced by Filer, Keith Scholey, Hugh Wilson and Roy Conli, “Guardians of the Galapagos” streams alongside “Sea Lions of the Galapagos” on Disney+ on April 22, 2025.
Additionally, now through March 30, new and returning customers can stream the biggest movies and series of the spring with Disney+ Standard With Ads for only $1.99/month for four months. To learn more or sign-up, visit www.disneyplus.com.
Today, Disney+ debuted the trailer for the upcoming limited series, FX’s “Dying for Sex,” starring Michelle Williams, Jenny Slate and an extraordinary cast. The series premieres on Friday, April 4, 2025 streaming exclusively on Disney+ in Canada, with all eight episodes available at premiere.
FX’s “Dying for Sex” is inspired by the story of Molly Kochan, originally shared on a Wondery podcast created with her best friend, Nikki Boyer. After Molly (Michelle Williams) receives a diagnosis of Stage IV metastatic breast cancer, she decides to leave her husband, Steve (Jay Duplass) and begins to explore the full breadth and complexity of her sexual desires for the first time in her life.
Gird yourself, Molly has a lot to accomplish in the little time she has left. There’s no time for pearl clutching or passing judgement, Molly has no interest in what you think about her proverbial bucket list (btw, this phrase will always provoke an eye roll). She gains the courage to embark on this adventure from her ride or die Nikki (Jenny Slate), a woman whose love and devotion will compel you to pick up the phone and call that friend already! Also joining the cast are Rob Delaney, Kelvin Yu, David Rasche, Esco Jouléy and Sissy Spacek.
FX’s “Dying for Sex” is written and co-created by Kim Rosenstock & Elizabeth Meriwether, who also serve as executive producers along with Katherine Pope, Kathy Ciric, Wondery’s Hernan Lopez, Jen Sargent, Marshall Lewy and Aaron Hart, Michelle Williams, Nikki Boyer, Shannon Murphy and Leslye Headland. “Dying for Sex” is produced by 20th Television.
Robust parental controls ensure that Disney+ remains a suitable viewing experience for everyone in the family. Subscribers can set access limits on mature content and create PIN-protected profiles alongside the already existing Junior Mode profiles to give parents and guardians peace of mind.
