MINIONS & MONSTERS debuts in top spot July 4th weekend with $39.5 million from 4,243 theatres for Universal Pictures. Critically, it is very well-received with 91% on the Tomatometer. Franchise best belongs to 2015’s MINIONS which debuted with $115 million.
Second goes to TOY STORY 5 which is still going strong with $32 million in its third weekend for Disney. Thus far it has grossed $365 million domestically.
Third goes to YOUNG WASHINGTON with $16 million from 2,700 theatres for Angel Studios. This gets 57% on the Tomatometer.
SUPERGIRL lands in fourth in its second weekend out with $10 million from 3,602 theatres for Warner Bros. It has made $48.8 million thus far.
DISCLOSURE DAY rounds it all out with $5.6 million, taking it to $104 million for Universal Pictures in its fourth frame.
There’s just no stopping TOY STORY 5 as it takes top spot at the Box Office a second straight week with $70 million from 4,425 theatres for Disney and Pixar.
SUPERGIRL debuts in second with $40 million from 3,602 theatres for Warner Bros. This gets 57% on the Tomatometer. By comparison, last year’s SUPERMAN debuted with $125 million for the studio. Review here.
In third is JACKASS: BEST AND LAST, the final in the franchise, getting $10 million from 2,855 theatres for Paramount Pictures. It earns an 87% on the Tomatometer.
Fourth goes to OBSESSION with $8.5 million, a seven week tally of $232.6 million for Focus Features/Universal Pictures.
DISCLOSURE DAY rounds things out with $7 million, a total $93.2 million grossed over three weekends for Universal Pictures.
TOY STORY 5 gets unboxed to a franchise best opening this weekend with a stellar $160 million from 4,425 theatres for Disney. Not only this, it gets a superb 94% on the Tomatometer. Franchise best belonged to 2019’s TOY STORY 4 with $120 million. Review here.
Second goes to last week’s champ DISCLOSURE DAY, bringing-in $17.2 million in its second frame to a domestic tally of $78.4 million for Universal Pictures.
Third is the resilient OBSESSION, taking $14 million, to a total six week run of $215 million for Universal Pictures.
BACKROOMS takes fourth spot with $7.5 million, a total $175 million grossed over four weekends for A24/Elevation Pictures.
SCARY MOVIE rounds things out with $6.6 million, a three week run of $97 million for Paramount Pictures.
Spielberg‘s definitely still got it! The iconic Filmmaker pulls-in $44 million with his latest, DISCLOSURE DAY, playing at 3,824 theatres. The Sci-Fi Action blockbuster starring Emily Blunt and Josh O’Connor gets 81% on the Tomatometer. Review here.
OBSESSION continues to defy the odds, landing in second with a stellar $21 million from 3,068 theatres for Focus Features, taking it now to $190 million over five weekends in North America. Again this indie Horror was made for just $750k.
Third is SCARY MOVIE with $14.6 million for Paramount Pictures, taking it to $84.6 million domestically.
BACKROOMS is fourth with $12 million, taking it to $160.7 million for A24/Elevation Pictures. This also was made for a micro-budget of $10 million.
MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE rounds the Top Five out with $9.2 million, a tally of $47.2 million for Amazon MGM Studios.
