Despite what many feel about her political views, Roseanne Barr undeniably is an American icon. The Funnywoman would change the face of Television with her eponymous 14-time Golden Globe and 17-time Emmy-nominated Series ROSEANNE, which defined much of our growing-up in the ’90s. Barr‘s character – a strong, working-class, domestic goddess of a Matriarch – was refreshing and still is a breath of fresh air.
With twenty years having passed between the Series’ ninth and tenth seasons, audiences cannot get enough of The Conners with a record-breaking 27.3 million viewers tuning-in to the latter’s Premiere in March. ROSEANNE has never shied controversy tackling gender norms, class and same-sex relationships and even today continues to push the envelope exploring topics at the center of discussion.
Barr’s brand always has been about being outspoken and provocative and that is what Fans can expect on her current two-week Canadian Stand-Up Tour which kicked-off in Winnipeg and now has made its way to Ontario with stops in Richmond Hill, Burlington, Brampton, Oakville, Guelph and Ottawa scheduled. A show last night in North Bay was cancelled and may be postponed due to inclement weather. Even with the weather being less than ideal, Fans still came out in full force to the Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts to see Barr live and the house was packed! And if we can be frank, she’s never looked better!
See for yourself!
While she was rushed out of the Venue following the 70-minute set, she was happy to pose for a couple photos and sign autographs before cutting it off quickly. We’re thrilled. We love Roseanne.
ROSEANNE airs in Canada on CTV Tuesday nights 7:30 PM ET and an eleventh season just was green-lit based on its smashing performance thus far in its reboot. More here.

TONY and GRAMMY Award Winner Ben Platt is a star on the rise. Originating the titular role in widely-acclaimed and Toronto-bound DEAR EVAN HANSEN on Broadway, he is getting plenty of buzz for his starring role in Writer/Director Ricky Tollman‘s RUN THIS TOWN. He also has starred in the successful PITCH PERFECT Franchise and also THE BOOK OF MORMON.
RUN THIS TOWN stars Damian Lewis (Billions, Homeland) as Rob Ford and also Nina Dobrev and Mena Massoud, the latter who recently wrapped Disney‘s upcoming live-action adaptation of Aladdin in which he stars in the title role.
Synopsis:
Run This Town follows a young journalist (Platt), desperate to prove himself, who catches wind of a scandal involving a flashy, unpredictable politician with no filter (Lewis). Political aides (Massoud and Dobrev) attempt to keep their boss in check – and the story under wraps – in order to save their jobs. The Film tells the story of the Millennial generation while spotlighting the power dynamics operating in today’s workplace.
Platt has drummed-up a bit of controversy being targeted with criticism online from some who have mistakened the Film as being a biographical account of Ford‘s life, not crediting the outstanding investigative journalism of Robyn Dolittle. It has been confirmed that the Film is in fact fictional, set against the backdrop of a Ford-run Toronto.
We spotted Platt after a day of hard work in what is a compressed filming schedule, set to complete in under one month. He was awesome to stop for a Snap, as was Massoud, who just arrived from Los Angeles, greeted by hoards of fans and autograph seekers upon arrival. A hero’s welcome home for the Toronto talent.
See our Snaps:
It is believed this Film is targetting a premiere at TIFF ’18 and we need to see this! Elevation Pictures will be handling its release in Canada.
