Despite what many feel about her political views, Roseanne Barr undeniably is an American icon. The Funnywoman would change the face of Television with her eponymous 14-time Golden Globe and 17-time Emmy-nominated Series ROSEANNE, which defined much of our growing-up in the ’90s. Barr‘s character – a strong, working-class, domestic goddess of a Matriarch – was refreshing and still is a breath of fresh air.
With twenty years having passed between the Series’ ninth and tenth seasons, audiences cannot get enough of The Conners with a record-breaking 27.3 million viewers tuning-in to the latter’s Premiere in March. ROSEANNE has never shied controversy tackling gender norms, class and same-sex relationships and even today continues to push the envelope exploring topics at the center of discussion.
Barr’s brand always has been about being outspoken and provocative and that is what Fans can expect on her current two-week Canadian Stand-Up Tour which kicked-off in Winnipeg and now has made its way to Ontario with stops in Richmond Hill, Burlington, Brampton, Oakville, Guelph and Ottawa scheduled. A show last night in North Bay was cancelled and may be postponed due to inclement weather. Even with the weather being less than ideal, Fans still came out in full force to the Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts to see Barr live and the house was packed! And if we can be frank, she’s never looked better!
See for yourself!
While she was rushed out of the Venue following the 70-minute set, she was happy to pose for a couple photos and sign autographs before cutting it off quickly. We’re thrilled. We love Roseanne.
ROSEANNE airs in Canada on CTV Tuesday nights 7:30 PM ET and an eleventh season just was green-lit based on its smashing performance thus far in its reboot. More here.
