Not that there ever was a doubt about it! AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR is en route to a $237 million opening for Disney/Marvel, from 4,475 theatres, pegging it as second-highest all-time opening right in behind Star Wars: The Force Awakens. It gets 84% on the Tomatometer from Critics and an A CinemaScore which should help continue spreading word of mouth in coming weeks. Expect it to all about Avengers these next few weeks.
A v. distant second is A QUIET PLACE with $10 million from 4,101 theatres for Paramount Pictures. Overall it has made $147.6 million over four weeks domestically.
In third is I FEEL PRETTY with $7.9 million for STX Entertainment/eOne Films, a two-week tally of $29.3 million.
RAMPAGE slips to fourth spot with $$6.8 million, a three week total of $77.6 million for Warner Bros.
SUPER TROOPERS 2 in its second week earns $3.2 million for Fox Searchlight, a two-week gross of $21.7 million.
TRAFFIK rounds-out the Top Ten with $1.7 million, a total $6.8 million earned over two weeks for Lionsgate Films. The Film doesn’t have a Canadian release.
A QUIET PLACE won’t be stopped. After slipping to second spot in a narrow loss last weekend, it rises back to the top in its third week out for Paramount Pictures, with $21.1 million from 3,808 theatres. It has thus far earned $131 million domestically.
In second is I FEEL PRETTY with a solid $18 million for STX Entertainment/eOne Films from 3,440 theatres. The Amy Schumer-fronted Comedy get 35% on the Tomatometer and a B+ CinemaScore.
RAMPAGE gets third spot with $17.6 million after taking top spot last weekend. It has made $63 million over two weeks for Warner Bros.
SUPER TROOPERS 2 debuts in fourth spot with $16 million with its strategic 4.20 release date. It plays in 2,038 theatres for Fox Searchlight and gets 33% on the Tomatometer and a B+ CinemaScore.
TRAFFIK opens in ninth spot with $3.8 million for Lionsgate Films. It gets 24% on the Tomatometer for Codeblack Films. It hasn’t be released yet in Canada.
ISLE OF DOGS rounds-out the Top Ten with $3.3 million for Fox Searchlight, a total $24 million over five weeks.
RAMPAGE, starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, debuts at number one this weekend with $35.7 million for Warner Bros. It debuts with lukewarm reviews at 50% on the Tomatometer but gets a solid A- CinemaScore which will help propel its word of mouth in coming weeks.
It’s been a quick climb to the $100-million-mark for A QUIET PLACE in second with $32.9 million. Over two weeks it has made $101.8 million domestically for Paramount Pictures over 3,589 theatres this weekend.
BLUMHOUSE’S TRUTH OR DARE debuts in third with $18.6 million for Universal Pictures from 3,029 theatres. It gets 15% on the Tomatometer and a B- CinemaScore. The Horror stars Lucy Hale and Tyler Posey.
In its third week out READY PLAYER ONE slips to fourth spot with $11 million bringing its three week total to $114 million for Warner Bros.
In fifth is BLOCKERS with $10.3 million for Universal Pictures, bringing its two week total to $36 million.
CHAPPAQUIDDICK rounds-out the Top Ten for Entertainment Studios/D Films with $2.9 million, a total $10.9 million over two weeks.
