It seems as though everything was taking place in Toronto this weekend! While attention was focused on the NBA All-Star Weekend, TIFF also was hosting the Next Wave Film Festival for young Movie Lovers!
Closing Night Gala SING STREET marked the end of the Festival, programmed for youth by youth. The well-reviewed Sundance hit is about an Irish teen who leaves his hometown to start a band in London during the 80s. The autobiographical Musical Comedy by Writer/Director John Carney, stars Ferdia Walsh-Peelo who is being touted as a big breakout star and a Musician in his own right. In addition to introducing his Film tonight at TIFF Bell Lightbox, Walsh-Peelo also did a Q&A, performing selections from Sing Street acoustically. He tells me outside Gabby’s, he’s used to performing with the five-piece band from the Film, so tonight was a bit unique doing it on his own.
See our Snap with Walsh-Peelo who has been in town on the coldest weekend ever to promote his Film!

Following the smash ratings and critical success of FOX‘s GREASE LIVE!, preparations are under way for the reimagination of ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW!
With a talented cast including Adam Lambert, Christina Milian, Victoria Justice, Ryan McCartan, Reeve Carney, Laverne Cox, Staz Nair and original cast member Tim Curry, rehearsals and filming continue in Toronto through April.
We spotted cast members Justice, McCartan, Carney and Nair fly in to begin work this week, sacrificing not only their amazing weather, but also their Valentine’s Day to be with us. Vocals already have been recorded in Los Angeles.
Best known from the arriving group is Actress/Singer Justice who has an ardent Social Media following, having starred in Nickelodeon hit series VICTORIOUS alongside Ariana Grande. She was in L.A. attending various GRAMMY festivities this weekend. She stars as Janet Weiss (originated by Susan Sarandon), while McCartan stars as Brad Majors, Carney as Riff-Raff and Staz Nair as the titular Rocky. A friendly bunch!
We’re actually stoked about this Production and curious to see a fresh perspective on a Classic and how they’ll make it interactive with a new generation of Fans!

Actors Jason Sudeikis and Stephan James are in the City today promoting sports drama RACE. Based on the inspiring story of Olympian Jesse Owens, the Film premieres tonight in Toronto at Scotiabank Theatre.
The stars did press bright and early today starting at KISS 92.5‘s The Roz & Mocha Show before heading to a sizable crowd of fans over at Breakfast Television. Watch the interview here. An appearance also was scheduled for The Morning Show on Global Television.
Despite an extreme cold alert being issued this NBA All Star Weekend, James and Sudeikis were amazing to stop for fans, taking their time to do selfies and signing memorabilia.
