We know many of you are stoked about this upcoming Reboot of REBECCA, so here’s a look at the brand-new Trailer!
Synopsis:
After a whirlwind romance in Monte Carlo with handsome widower Maxim de Winter (Armie Hammer), a newly married young woman (Lily James) arrives at Manderley, her new husband’s imposing family estate on a windswept English coast. Naive and inexperienced, she begins to settle into the trappings of her new life, but finds herself battling the shadow of Maxim’s first wife, the elegant and urbane Rebecca, whose haunting legacy is kept alive by Manderley’s sinister housekeeper Mrs. Danvers (Kristin Scott Thomas). Directed by Ben Wheatley (High Rise, Free Fire) and produced by Working Title Films (Emma, Darkest Hour), REBECCA is a mesmerising and gorgeously rendered psychological thriller based on Daphne du Maurier’s beloved 1938 gothic novel.

We know we’re in good hands any time we get to test drive a Honda Accord which already is perfection. The 2020 HONDA ACCORD TOURING 2.0 somehow seems to build upon that.
This edition of the Accord Touring is powered with a 2.0 litre, 16-valve, Direct Injection, DOHC, i-VTEC turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. It also operates at 252 horsepower @ 6500 rpm and 273 lb.- ft of torque @ 1500-4000 rpm. Its Adaptive Damper System both smooths the ride and sharpens handling according to driving conditions which we will need in months. Let’s face it, summer’s over!
We love that we get both SPORT and ECON mode options here. The former gives you quicker transmission shifting and more agile handling assist in corners. The latter gives you more fuel economy. It is this type of versatility and a deep understanding of its drivers’ needs that continue to make Honda stand out.
Part of this customer-focused intuitiveness spreads also to its care not only for its Driver, but also its Passengers. Drivers and Passengers in the 2020 Honda Accord Touring 2.0 get their own Climate Control and Heated Seating, plus a litany of charging options including a charging plate, multiple USB ports and a lighter auxiliary outlet. And I am a huge fan of the Seat Cooler option. This literally is a car of all seasons, which you need here in Canada.
Safety always is #1 with Honda and once again they come through with the features. We never have to worry about visibility as the car comes with LED daytime running lights and also Auto High Beam, which is super-helpful when driving in rural conditions. Lane Departure and Front Collision Warning are lifesavers, in addition to its Blind Spot Information System with Rear Cross Traffic Monitoring System. If parking gives you anxiety, its Rear-View Camera is a god-send. The holographic Traffic Sign Recognition on the Driver’s side of the windshield is super-helpful and also ensures we know we’re in-adherence of speed limits. Its i-SRS Airbag System and Front-Knee Airbags are state-of-the-art in terms of safety measures.
In terms of aesthetics, the car is pure sophisticated elegance. Our test ride was a gorgeous Obsidian Blue Pearl with refined accents like a chrome grille and door handles and a dual exhaust with chrome finisher. Seats also are comfortable with perforated leather-trimmed surfaces. The Driver’s seat was power-adjustable, 12 ways. The trend amidst this Pandemic is Drive-In Entertainment and you will see below just how handy it came.
Its 452-watt AM/FM Premium Audio System controlled by its sublime Digital Audio System and 10 speakers with subwoofer also give the Accord Touring 2.0 that added lift in experience. And this also made a huge difference not only at the Drive-In events we attended, but also in our daily driving, syncing our phone via Bluetooth to listen to our playlists and Spotify.

Now in its eighth year, the VAUGHAN FILM FESTIVAL presented by QuadReal Property Group, takes-on a new format this year. The Festival this year will focus on Short Films in the live action, animated and documentary genres, from 12 different countries being showcased every Friday, Saturday and Sunday between September 4 to 27, 2020. In addition, for the first time ever it will use a Drive-In venue at Interchange Park for a retro and contact-free vibe. Proceeds from the Festival this year will go to the NIA Centre for the Arts which supports an appreciation of Arts across the Afro-Diaspora to artistic youth.
Each night of the Festival, Short Films are divided by three groupings, INTERNATIONAL PG-13, INTERNATIONAL 14A and INTERNATIONAL 18A, which is that we got to preview, which was a selection of darker and quirkier material. Highlights include:
Shawn Christensen‘s CURFEW – this Oscar-wining Short Film is about a man named Richard at his lowest of lows, asked to babysit his niece.
Jeremy Comte‘s FAUVE – This Short Film was short-listed for an Oscar and is a gorgeously-shot Drama about two boys playing a game in a surface mine. Things go horribly wrong when one of them gets trapped and sinks.
Alexandre Gougeon’s I AM THE WOLF – balances out the mix with a bit of Non-Fiction. This Short Film centers on Boxer Arthur Biyarslanov who navigates the pressure to succeed for his adopted country and his family.
I Am The Wolf- Short Documentary from Patrick Holmes on Vimeo.
We will say sonically, the sound of these Films was amazing as we tuned-in from our car. We much prefer when the audio isn’t broadcast through speakers as well as there often is a jarring delay and echo when you open your window at the Drive-In. This wasn’t an issue at all here.
Other Films to premiere include:
Amy Jo Johnson‘s LINES – a woman visits a Dermatologist and begins questioning her age and appearance.
Matt & Drew Taylor‘s RON TAYLOR: DR. BASEBALL – centers on Dr. Ron Taylor‘s decision to go to medical school after a successful baseball career, as told by his two sons.
Josh Zuckerman‘s A REAL ADVENTURE – a son visits his father in prison, forced to confront some issues in their strained relationship.
Joewi Verhoeven‘s SINGER NOT THE SONG – A Songwriter discovers that songs playing on the radio are under the name of a deceased Artist.
See the complete list of Short Films here.

We’re thrilled finally to have experienced Toronto’s IMMERSIVE VAN GOGH EXHIBIT at long last. The first of its kind Drive-In Digital Art Exhibition brought to us by Lighthouse Immersive debuted back in June in the City to raves, placing Torontonians into a 600,000 cubic foot space where they can experience up-close Vincent Van Gogh‘s genius work. The show features over 2,000+ pieces from his catalog, compressed into 35 minutes, culminating in his masterpiece, Starry Night.
Rest assured, those without cars also have access via a socially-distanced Walk-Thru version of the experience.
We experienced this with a couple friends courtesy of Honda Canada‘s 2020 Accord Touring 2.0. The exhibit, set to music and projections on the walls of the space at 1 Yonge Street, was a thing of great wonder and ambient beauty. Through the vehicle’s audio system, we were able to listen to a pre-curation by Colm Feore and poke our head through the moonroof to get the full experience. Many others in attendance just reclined their seats, sat back and enjoyed.
Lots of fun merchandise like face coverings and socks are available too as are some concessions.
A gallery of our experience:
If you are attending, please ensure you arrive with your car about 15 minutes early. You will queue outside the venue and be guided in and out by their friendly staff.
Tickets to the Immersive Van Gogh Exhibit are available still up to end of October 2020. More details can be found on their website here.

This looks great! Presenting this first look at a new Adaptation of THE BOYS IN THE BAND, coming next month to Netflix!
Synopsis:
More than fifty years after Mart Crowley‘s play became an unexpected smash hit for putting gay men’s lives center stage with honesty and humor, THE BOYS IN THE BAND returns to the screen in a new adaptation that reunites acclaimed director Joe Mantello with the all-star cast of the Tony-winning, 2018 Broadway production. In 1968 New York City – when being gay was still considered to be best kept behind closed doors – a group of friends gather for a raucous birthday party hosted by Michael (Jim Parsons), a screenwriter who spends and drinks too much, in honor of the sharp-dressed and sharp-tongued Harold (Zachary Quinto). Other partygoers include Donald (Matt Bomer), Michael’s former flame, now mired in self-analysis; Larry (Andrew Rannells), a randy commercial artist living with Hank (Tuc Watkins), a school teacher who has just left his wife; Bernard (Michael Benjamin Washington), a librarian tiptoeing around fraught codes of friendship alongside Emory (Robin de Jesús), a decorator who never holds back; and a guileless hustler (Charlie Carver), hired to be Harold’s gift for the night. What begins as an evening of drinks and laughs gets upended when Alan (Brian Hutchison), Michael’s straight-laced college roommate, shows up unexpectedly and each man is challenged to confront long-buried truths that threaten the foundation of the group’s tight bond.

Tim rushes in to discover Devon cutting the balloon strings, wishing to see them fly. Overwhelmed with emotion, Tim ventures out alone immediately for a new balloon, despite Devon’s pleas to tag along. But at the boardwalk, the vendor is all out of red balloons, sending Tim into a panic. The Vendor offers some sage advice that helps Tim understand he needs to let Devon keep living his life, despite his diagnosis. Tim collects Devon and brings him to the boardwalk where they are welcomed by the Vendor holding an enormous bunch of red balloons. Later, when Devon wants to let this new balloon fly, Tim can finally release his fear for the future and enjoy this moment with his son by his side.
