No other Internet-based Series has taken the World by storm like ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK! The Series which we were so excited about last year recently has returned again for a second Season via Netflix and everyone we know is binge-watching it.
Stars Taylor Schilling and Uzo Aduba, the former playing the Lead Role of Piper Chapman, the latter playing Suzanne “Crazy Eyes” Warren, are two of the Series’ most beloved Characters. Both were in Toronto today to promote the new Season of the Dramedy, based on the Memoir of the same name by Piper Kerman.
Starting their day early arriving via a Loading Dock at KISS 92.5 before 7:00 AM,Fans, some who got-up earlier than 5:00 AM to see their Idols up-close, were left disappointed as the Duo and their Entourage drove-off without so much as a wave. Schilling and Aduba then head east-bound to CTV‘s Canada AM in Scarborough, encountering traffic unfortunately, resulting in their arriving at their Global Television The Morning Show (National Edition) appearance at least twenty minutes late. When leaving, their Entourage once again opted for a hidden entrance, leaving Fans who came supportive with Posters and 8×10s from the Show, saddened at the snubs.
On the contrary, Media Reports found the Duo warm and friendly, many praising an unrecognizable Aduba particularly as being “warm”. Some speculate that Schilling simply was carrying-out requests from her reportedly “stern-faced” Publicist, which saw multiple local outlets, which normally are in-the-loop, denied access to the two Stars. For the record, we have met the lovely Schilling before and found her to be kind at TIFF ’13 when she came to promote Stay. So what gives? Is a couple minutes out of a Press Day too much to ask for at this stage in the game for the Fans?
ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK Season Two is now available for streaming via Netflix Canada.
Model/Actress/Director and Spokesperson Shenae Grimes-Beech needs little introduction as Toronto long has been proud of its Homegirl. The Star of 90210 and Degrassi: The Next Generation has kept busy with a string of work including recently Toronto-filmed Final Exam, in which she stars opposite Pretty Little Liars’ Keegan Allen.
Grimes-Beech is in Toronto right now, carrying out duties as Spokesperson for Montreal-originated Annabelle Cosmetics. Tonight, she celebrates her Collaboration with the Company at an exclusive Party with Beauty Bloggers on Bay Street.
Iconic Entertainer Sandra Bernhard is back in-town, bringing her Sandyland Show to the Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts tonight and tomorrow.Known for her gritty brand of Humour, the Michigan-born Funnywoman rose to fame with her biting critique of Pop Culture and Politics.
Speaking of Politics, will she be poking-fun at Toronto Mayor Rob Ford at her Show? “The poor Guy’s been beaten up… He’s a bit of a mess”, she says to Dina Pugliese on CITY‘s Breakfast Television earlier this morning. Bernhard comments also on Social Media, when she realized she wanted to be a Comedienne and her Daughter also in the Interview. Watch here.
Shortly after, she made her way north to Global Television‘s The Morning Show (National Edition), where she co-hosted today. Although she was in a rush going live-to-air, she fulfilled her promise coming out afterwards, graciously signing some Autographs and posing for Photos before heading to her next Taping. She looks amazing, can we agree? Watch her on The Morning Showhere.
Tickets are still available to Bernhard‘s Sandyland Show. Click here for more.
Miami-born Singer/Songwriter Cris Cab already has achieved Chart success overseas, but now is setting his sights stateside. The 21-year-old’s debut Single Liar Liar, a Reggae-Pop Track, gives us a taste of what he’s capable of. If red-hot Pharrell Williams‘ vote of confidence in him as his Mentor means anything, he certainly is one to keep on our radars.
Cab was spotted doing an appearance on Global Television‘s The Morning Show (Toronto Edition) earlier, guitar in-tow for a busy second day of Press, awesome to stop for a quick Snap. He did encounter a bit of SUV confusion on his way out as an arriving Comedienne Sandra Bernhard‘s Vehicle was parked right beside his.
Teen Stars CJ Adams and Erin Pitt might look familiar. Those of you who watch Chicago Fire and/or saw 2012’s The Odd Life of Timothy Green surely were touched by Adams’ Award-winning performance as a Boy sprouted from the ground, taken-in by a Couple (Jennifer Garner and Joel Edgerton) facing difficulty conceiving. Hamilton-born has appeared in the likes of Silent Hill 2 and Camp Rock 2 – she even filmed American Girl: Blanche in Toronto last Summer.
Both young Stars are in the City promoting their new Movie, Against the Wild, which sees a pair of Siblings and their Dog lost in the beautiful and possibly dangerous Wilderness after their Plane crashes. The Duo appeared on Global Television‘s The Morning Show (Toronto Edition), kind to stop a minute for a Snap. Adams, who stars in upcoming Blockbuster Godzilla, was appreciative when told how great he was in Timothy Green, giving back a quick thanks!
In-town for their much-hyped The Package Tour, Popular former-Boy Band 98° are in Toronto right now and promoting their latest Disc, 2.0 along with the Testosterone-packed Show in which they share the spotlight with the likes of NKOTB (New Kids on the Block) and Boyz II Men. The Band hits Air Canada Centre tonight, returning once again on Sunday, July 28, 2013.
Everyone’s doing the Harlem Shake, an Internet Meme which has taken the World by storm February 2013. What is the Harlem Shake you ask? Hot on the heels of Gangnam Style, it is the latest dance craze seen in viral Video Clips which are set to 30 seconds of the Track of the same name by Brooklyn-based Electronic Music Artist, Bauuer. The Videos start off with one person dancing, while all others around are oblivious to it. As soon as the Bass Line starts, we are put into sensory overload with others joining-in doing repeated (sometimes lewd) dance motions. Amazing.
YouTube Users DizastaMusic and The Sunny Skate (a Longboarding Crew from Australia) were among the first to start the craze, causing People to strip down to their undies shamelessly before the Camera!
See some of my favourite Harlem Shake Videos to surface so far, although I must say, hands-down the Maker Studios one is my favourite – rather sleek, wouldn’t you say?
The Workers of Maker Studios:
Atlas, a PENN State University Special Interest Organization:
The Sunny Coast Skate:
Canadians have been joining in on the fun too!

See my fellow University of Toronto Alumni in action! Hard to believe I graduated in that building!:
..even George Stromboulopoulos had to join-in on the fun!
It was a fun week on Global Television‘s The Morning Show (National Edition) as Star of NBC‘s Deception,Katherine LaNasa, flew-in from Los Angeles, finger-in-cast to Co-Host the popular program. Accompanying her was Husband and Melrose Place Star Grant Show, who joined as Co-Host mid-week, taking-in some fun this week which included scantily-clad Models, Cocktails, Bedazzling and Grilling – yes, Grilling amidst the massive Snowstorm our City is facing. Yes, it was the Shows in the Snow.
Today marked the final day the Couple would be appearing after a week-long visit which also included them taping a Segment for Entertainment Tonight Canada also at The Cupcake Shoppe, airing on Valentine’s Day. LaNasa said on The Morning Show, “I actually don’t mind the snow – we rarely get to see it!”, hinting that gladly she’d on for another week if she could.
Show who married LaNasa last Summer, yesterday helped bedazzle a Lucky Clover on LaNasa‘s middle finger, which currently is in a cast still after an injury filming the Season Finale of Deception. He revealed that they went on their first date on St. Patrick’s Day at a Bar named The Happy Ending, clarifying “there was no ‘happy ending’ that night”. He also mentioned that currently he’s working on Lifetime Series Maids, from Creator Marc Cherry, who brought us the amazing Desperate Housewives. The Series is about four sexy Latina Maids with dreams of their own, while they work for the Rich and Famous in Beverly Hills. Newly-launched Station Lifetime Canada, which also is owned by Shaw Media (coincidentally also the owner of Global Television which airs Deception in Canada) is expected to air the Series later this year.
The amazing LaNasa was sweet enough to arrange a Photo Op together with her Husband for Billy and me following her Taping today, pulling us in from the Snow and wouldn’t you say it turned-out just beautifully? Glittery snow, smiling faces, squinty eyes and a Dog in Faux Fur!
Deception airs Monday nights on Global at 9:00 PM EST.
