Today we get a brand-new Canadian Trailer for DUNE: PART TWO, arriving in theatres this November.

The saga continues as award-winning filmmaker Denis Villeneuve embarks on “Dune: Part Two,” the next chapter of Frank Herbert’s celebrated novel Dune, with an expanded all-star international ensemble cast. The film, from Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures, is the highly anticipated follow-up to 2021’s six-time Academy Award-winning “Dune.”

“Dune: Part Two” will explore the mythic journey of Paul Atreides as he unites with Chani and the Fremen while on a warpath of revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family. Facing a choice between the love of his life and the fate of the known universe, he endeavors to prevent a terrible future only he can foresee.

Villeneuve directed from a screenplay he co-wrote with Jon Spaihts based on Herbert’s novel. The film is produced by Mary Parent, Cale Boyter, Villeneuve, Tanya Lapointe and Patrick McCormick. The executive producers are Josh Grode, Herbert W. Gains, Jon Spaihts, Thomas Tull, Brian Herbert, Byron Merritt, Kim Herbert, with Kevin J. Anderson serving as creative consultant.

Villeneuve is again collaborating with his “Dune” creatives: Oscar-winning director of photography Greig Fraser; Oscar-winning production designer Patrice Vermette; Oscar-winning editor Joe Walker; Oscar-winning visual effects supervisor Paul Lambert; Oscar-nominated costume designer Jacqueline West. Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer is again on hand to create the score.

“Dune: Part Two” was filmed on location in Budapest, Abu Dhabi, Jordan and Italy. The film is slated for a November 3, 2023 worldwide release from Warner Bros. Pictures.

It’s literally been eight years since I’ve been back to New York for Met Gala festivities and the last time I visited the City was right before the Pandemic hit. Flying on the whole, was somewhat of a big deal for me as I’d been a little hesitatant about travelling for some time. Finally, I was ready and something I’d always wanted to do with my last dog Billy was travel with him. I’d always thought so much effort had to go into it that I’d have him boarded. After he had passed, I always told myself the next dog I get, he or she would be flying with me. And really, after looking into it thoroughly, it’s actually rather doable. You get clearance from your vet, ensure your dog’s shots are up to date, get a proper airline-approved carrier for your dog and make the necessary arrangements with your hotel and airline, provided your dog meets the specifications.

Using BOOKING.COM, I was able to find an accommodation that only was charming, central and within my price range, I found one that was pet-friendly and taking measures to being more sustainable in their business practices. A couple stipulations – the hotel will charge more for bringing along a pet. And when you book your plane ticket, not only is there an extra charge to bring along your pet as a carry-on, you will have to pay an additional charge to check your luggage since your pet will occupy that one carry-on allotment you are granted.

The Met Gala is the height of Hollywood glamour. But set in the concrete heaven that is New York City. It is a collision of the world’s most notable women and men with fashion and this year the Gala was celebrating the life and work of Karl Lagerfeld. And though scoring an invite to the Gala is tall ask, you still can partake in the fun scoping-out hotels and afterparties where these A-Listers are staying and headed.

At Lagerfeld’s core was a man who loved beautiful things immensely and adored more than anything, his beloved pet Choupette. And there’s plenty in that I identify with. This trip is a celebration of this. To you, Karl!

Though it rained the total duration of my trip, with the good weather showing its face on the first Monday in May, beanie and I still made the best of it. New Yorkers are a resilient breed and the perpetual downpour doesn’t phase them. Food Delivery apps were a huge help as originally I planned to visit several restaurants, but the weather forced me to alter course. I still was able to enjoy some selections in my hotel room. Still, I was able to visit a good number of spots I had on my list and am happy about that.

Such a joy seeing beanie bringing happiness to others and I love having her with me and wouldn’t want it any other way. You would never believe this but seeing the likes of Paris Hilton, Emily Ratajkowski, Olivia Wilde and Lizzo fawn over her were memories that will last with a lifetime.

This whole trip, while not at all restful, did give me the escape I needed to recharge. No matter what generation you’re from, you know the name, Michael J. Fox. Director Davis Guggenheim delivers an incredible film, which is told as a Documentary through archived and scripted elements. It celebrates the charming, witty, and optimistic Fox’s extraordinary story in his own words.

Guggenheim follows two narrative storylines in STILL. In doing so, STILL is a Documentary that tells two stories about the same man. One tells the story of Fox’s rise, from being an undersized kid from Canada to becoming Hollywood’s ‘80s darling. The other tells the story of Fox living with Parkinson’s Disease.

The story of his rise in Hollywood is moving, however, it’s the struggle he’s overcome in accepting his diagnosis that is the true inspiration. Fox speaks candidly in his interviews with Guggenheim. He talks about attempting to hide and forget his diagnosis by becoming addicted to alcohol. When he finally embraced his new reality he was able to turn it into something good. Not only does he have the Michael J. Fox Foundation, but he’s also received roles that have allowed him to play characters with Parkinson’s (such as on The Good Wife), which in turn brings more awareness and understanding to the disease.

The editing by Michael Harte is a tremendous accomplishment. There’s extensive footage from Films, TV Shows, Interviews, and more that come together seamlessly and work poetically with Fox’s words. For example, Fox will tell a short story about a moment in his life and Harte has a scene from one of Fox’s films or series, which works perfectly with the story.

It’s important to note that this isn’t a film that goes in-depth about Parkinson’s Disease. It’s about Fox’s story and that happens to include a story about Parkinson’s. STILL will make you want to learn more about it once you leave the theatre.

The Toronto International Film Festival® is delighted to announce a new partnership with the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation in support of science on screen. The new programme, Breakthroughs: The Sloan Science on Screen Programme, puts science in the spotlight and equips screen creators with industry connections and creative support at TIFF to further their science- and/or technology-focused projects. The Breakthroughs: The Sloan Science on Screen Programme will run at TIFF from 2023 to 2024, funded by a generous gift from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation. This new initiative will comprise three areas of focus: the Sloan Science & Technology Project Pitch, the Sloan Science & Technology Writer Fellowship, and the Sloan Science on Film Showcase. Sloan Science & Technology Project Pitch: The Sloan Science and Technology Project Pitch will provide four Canadian and international creators the opportunity to pitch their science- and/or technology-related film or episodic project at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival. Participants will deliver a maximum 15-minute presentation in front of a live audience of industry experts and decision makers. Each creator selected for the non-competitive pitch event will be awarded $15,000 CAD to develop their project. Applications open May 1, 2023, and close June 12, 2023.

Sloan Science & Technology Writer Fellowship: The Sloan Science and Technology Writer Fellowship offers a project development grant ($35,000 CAD) and creative support ― including participation in TIFF Writers’ Studio in March ― for one early- to mid-career screenwriter whose feature film or episodic project explores science and technology. Applications will open in Fall 2023.

Sloan Science on Film Showcase: The Sloan Science on Film Showcase will spotlight two science-forward feature films per year: one Official Selection title at the Toronto International Film Festival in September, and one year-round programming title at TIFF Bell Lightbox. One screening of each film will include a discussion between a member of the film team and a scientific expert. More information will be available in the coming months.

Through this partnership, the aim is to deliver a science-focused film programme that reaches creators and the public alike. With this programme, TIFF and the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation will support and inspire the next generation of creators to tackle science and technology themes, and promote greater understanding and appreciation of these topics among movie-lovers.

Helen du Toit, Festival & Artistic Director for Blue Mountain Film Festival (BMFF), today announced the programming for the second edition of the festival including the opening and closing presentations. Audiences will have a front-row seat to 24 films from 23 countries, including Canada, Chile, Finland, Germany, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Poland, Spain, Tunisia, Ukraine and the United States.  BMFF takes place June 1 to 4, 2023.

“Our goal for the second edition of the festival was to curate a lineup that delivers rich experiences and takes festival-goers on an inspired journey,” said Helen du Toit, Festival & Artistic Director. “We are incredibly fortunate to be able to share an abundance of outstanding and thought provoking films, each unique in its visual and narrative style that will delight and surprise audiences.” 

This year’s festival will open with the charming Spanish comedy Two Many Chefs directed by Joaquín Mazón. This delicious fine dining comedy follows a young superstar chef in hot pursuit of his third Michelin star when his father Juan, who he had believed to be long dead, shows up— suffering from amnesia. Juan believes he is still living in the 1990s and has his own very particular ideas about how a restaurant should be run. Perfect for foodies who enjoy a side serving of belly laughs.

The festival will close with Pamfir, the stunning feature debut from Ukrainian director Dmytro Sukholytkyy-Sobchuk. Set in Western Ukraine and on the eve of a traditional carnival, Pamfir, a reformed smuggler, returns to his family after months of absence. But when his only son Nazar starts a fire in the local church, Pamfir has no other choice but to reconnect with his troubled past to pay his son’s debt. This breathtakingly raw, dynamic thriller is also a moving exploration of one man’s unwavering love for his family in the face of relentless corruption and violence.

The Festival will also offer a series of industry opportunities aimed at the Blue Mountain community, specifically for high school students, environmental thought leaders and enthusiasts, and local creatives in the screen-based industry. There will be a special screening of Nabil Ayouch’s Casablanca Beats with the lead actor Anas Basbousi in attendance for high school students, and a public screening of three-time Academy Award winner Oliver Stone’s Nuclear Now followed by a panel discussion with experts from the alternate energy sector.

Today, SiriusXM Canada, in partnership with the Canadian Country Music Association ® (CCMA), is inviting Canadians to help choose the 2023 SiriusXM Top of the Country champion. The voting phase is now open, featuring eight semi-finalists racing toward the finish line to secure a spot in the finale. Exciting opportunities await the finalists, including a performance spot at the CMA Fest in Nashville, performances at exclusive Canadian events including Montreal’s Lasso, and cash prizes.

Last year’s Top of the Country champion, SACHA, seized the spotlight and triumphed over the competition to win the coveted title. “Performing is my calling. I love connecting with audiences and sharing my story through music,” said SACHA. “Winning SiriusXM Top of the Country has changed the trajectory of my career, and I will always cherish the life-changing experience as I continue to share my art with the world.”

The voting phase will take place starting today at 10am ET through May10 and will be open to all Canadians. Fans can watch exclusive studio sessions of each semi-finalist at topcountry.siriusxm.ca,
where votes can be cast daily.

Top of the Country Radio (ch. 171) and will feature a highly anticipated headlining act, making it an unforgettable night in Canadian country music.
