#FIRSTLOOK: “M.I.A.” DEBUTS MAY 7, 2026 ON SHOWCASE AND STACKTV

From the co-creator of Ozark, crime thriller series M.I.A. debuts Thursday, May 7 at 9 p.m. ET on Showcase and exclusively streaming on STACKTV. Restless in the Florida Keys, Etta Tiger Jonze (Shannon Gisela, Strip Law) dreams of a life in Miami’s glittering, sub-tropical kingdom. However, when her family’s drug-running business shatters in tragedy, Etta embarks on a dangerous journey through Miami’s neon-lit underbelly that will define who she is and what she’s ultimately capable of.

The series also stars Cary Elwes ( Saw), Danay Garcia ( Fear the Walking Dead), Brittany Adebumola ( The Other Black Girl), Dylan Jackson ( Floating Carousel), Alberto Guerra ( Griselda), Maurice Compte ( Narcos), Gerardo Celasco ( Swimming with Sharks), and Marta Milans ( Shazam!).

Bill Dubuque serves as creator, executive producer and writer, Karen Campbell serves as showrunner, executive producer, and writer. Alethea Jones also executive produces and serves as director for Episodes 101 and 102. Directors also include Gwyneth Horder-Payton (episode 103), Marizee Almas (episodes 104 and 105), Ben Semanoff (episodes 106 and 107) and John Dahl (episodes 108 and 109). MRC is the studio and the series is distributed internationally by Paramount Global Content Distribution.

#HOTDOCS: PROGRAMMING LINE-UP ANNOUNCED FOR 2018 HOT DOCS CANADIAN INTERNATIONAL DOCUMENTARY FESTIVAL

Running April 26 through May 6, 2018 at Hot Docs Ted Rogers Cinema, the 25th edition of the HOT DOCS CANADIAN INTERNATIONAL DOCUMENTARY FESTIVAL is about to kick off! Comprised of 246 Films from 56 countries and 14 programs, diversity is front and center with female Filmmakers accounting for 50% of the Films.

Highlighting this year’s Festival is a free World Premiere of THE TROLLEY at Ontario Place‘s Cinesphere. Hot Docs also will present special 25th anniversary screenings of THE WAR ROOM and KANEHSATAKE: 270 YEARS OF RESISTANCE with Directors in attendance.

Maya Gallus’ THE HEAT: A KITCHEN (R)EVOLUTION will be premiering opening night of the Festival, taking viewers inside the kitchens of the World’s top female chefs. Other high-profile Films include ANDY IRONS: KISSED BY GOD dealing with the surfing champion’s battle with mental illness, THE BILL MURRAY STORIES: LIFE LESSONS FROM A MYTHICAL MAN following Murray on random adventures, and LOVE, GILDA a Biopic about the beloved Comedian.

Rapper and Activist M.I.A. will be appearing as part of Scotia Wealth Management‘s BIG IDEAS Series and has a Film at the Festival also, MATANGI / MAYA / M.I.A.. Imagine Dragons Frontman Dan Reynolds also has a Film at the Festival, BELIEVER, which premiered at Sundance recently and it has him questioning his faith and its stance on homosexuality. McQueen, a Documentary about the late Fashion icon also will screen at Hot Docs.

#CMW: ELLIE GOULDING, TEGAN AND SARA AND M.I.A. TO HEADLINE 2014 CANADIAN MUSIC WEEK

Now in its 33rd year, Canadian Music Week is set to kick-off in Toronto Tuesday, May 6 through Saturday, May 10, 2014!  The Festival this year is heavy on talent in the Female Contingent with Tegan and Sara, Neko Case, M.I.A. and Ellie Goulding among those headlining.  The Lineup will continue to be unveiled in coming weeks but we’re pretty impressed already!

Here in Toronto for Interviews this year are the likes of deadmau5, City and Colour, Bruce Cockburn and recent GRAMMY Winner Nile Rodgers (Get Lucky).

Taking place Sunday, November 3, 3013, the first-ever YouTube Music Awards will take place in New York City at Pier 36! Performers at the star-studded Awards include the likes of Eminem, Lady Gaga, Avicii, M.I.A., Arcade Fire and several more. Funnyman Jason Schwartzman and Musician Reggie Watts will host the Event.
