Author and Television personality Montel Williams help bring us up in the ’90s with long-running The Montel Williams Show. After the show went off the air, he’s been focusing his attentions on among other things, Multiple Sclerosis Awareness, himself living with the condition. The EMMY winner also is an advocate for cannabis reform in the United States and speaks this weekend in Toronto at the O’Cannabiz Conference & Expo at the International Centre April 25-27, 2019.
We are thrilled to have met Williams earlier as he was out doing appearances including CITY‘s Breakfast Television where he discussed a new device to assist those coping with MS.
I think I speak for many of us when I say that we have in some shape, way or form been touched by the work of Marcia Gay Harden. Normally when you speak about an Actor or Actress you refer to the work they are best known for, but the Academy Award-winning Actress is known for so many years of incredible work. There’s of course her brilliant performance in Pollock and of course Mystic River. But what about Mona Lisa Smile, the Fifty Shades of Grey Trilogy, Damages, How to Get Away with Murder, Code Black, The Newsroom or The First Wives’ Club?
Her reason for visit today, her first in quite some time, was a little different. In addition to being an accomplished Actress, she also is an Author and she penned a Memoir dedicated to her late mother, THE SEASONS OF MY MOTHER: A MEMOIR OF LOVE, FAMILY, AND FLOWERS chronicling her battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. More on that here.
Harden grew-up in Japan where her and her mother and has fond memories of doing traditional Japanese flower arrangements, Ikebana. She even has shown Martha Stewart in one of many visits to her, how to do this! See a Clip here.
While a tad behind schedule, we are so thrilled we got a chance to tell her we love her and get a Selfie! Harden appeared on CITY‘s Breakfast Television, kicking-off her day of Press for the Book.
Popular Science Educator Bill Nye the Science Guy is back in Toronto after visiting last year for Hot Docs. Pairing with Nike, for whom he recently appeared in a TV Spot for, Nye spoke at the Toronto Dispensary (fitting for 4.20) about running and endorphines last night.
Nye currently can be seen on Netflix‘s BILL NYE SAVES THE WORLD.
He appeared at CITY’s BREAKFAST TELEVISION earlier today. See him chat about a myriad of topics!
What a treat it was we got to see this young man! Nine-year-old Actor Deric McCabe is in Toronto in support of Disney’s A WRINKLE IN TIME! We’re sure many of you like us are excited for the Film Adaptation directed by AvaDuVernay and starring Oprah Winfrey, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Reese Witherspoon and MindyKaling, plus breakout star Storm Reid. The Fantasy Film has Montana-born McCabe starring as CharlesWallace, younger brother of the Film’s central character, played by Reid.
McCabe arrived in Toronto yesterday and was in awe in his Instagram story about the cool swag he received upon arrival and course the TV embedded in his bathroom mirror!
We met quickly the little guy who is big on swag at Breakfast Television where he was interviewed by Dina Pugliese. What a pro!
See our Snap. OMG. We are even on his Instagram story! Navigate slideshow by hovering cursor left and right.
Making his second visit to a blisteringly-cold Toronto in just under a year, Actor Geoff Stults is back for his latest Film, 12 STRONG. He is known best for his work on Grace and Frankie, 7th Heaven, The Finder (Co-Star Maddie Hasson also is in town filming) and last year’s juicy Thriller Unforgettable in which he starred alongside Rosario Dawson and Katherine Heigl.
Busy doing the TV circuit in Los Angeles last week in support of 12 Strong, Stults toughs the polar opposite temperatures locally armed with earmuffs. He was amazing to stop for a quick Snap leaving CITY’S Breakfast Television where he got to cuddle with an adorable dog, before continuing his day of interviews which also sees him return to Global’s The Morning Show.
The Drama centers on a Special Forces Team assigned to take down the Taliban under a new captain, post-9/11. They must however, work together with an Afghan warlord to accomplish the mission. Michael Shannon, Austin Stowell, Michael Peña, Trevante Rhodes, William Fichtner, along with real-life couple Elsa Pataky and Chris Hemsworth, also star.
Warner Bros. Pictures Canada release 12 STRONG on Friday, January 19, 2018.

Here’s a couple tips for taking the best selfies with the stars, from your resident expert, Mr. Will:
1. Be calm, stars are more like us than we are led to believe.
2. Ask nicely. If you are a real fan, let them know how they have touched your life.
3. Give them space and let them initiate it if they want to get closer to you.
4. Make sure there’s no glaring light behind you in the photo. This is v. unflattering and will almost always ruin your photo. If there is light, make sure it is shining on your faces.
5. Nobody likes a double-chin, so tilt that camera/cell phone up just a bit and tilt that chin down.
6. Look into the lens of the camera, not the screen on your cell phone and smile! Keep your eyes open!
7. Take an extra snap quickly just in case the first didn’t turn out – it’s always good to have a back-up.
8. Thank the star.
Enjoy and g’luck! We’ll be seeing you around Canadian Screen Week!
Right in time for her 16th birthday, Hawaiian-born singer/actress Auli’i Cravalho is in Toronto today to promote her debut Feature, Disney’s Moana. The lovely burgeoning star was handpicked by the studio after a rigorous audition process which saw her last to audition and first to be chosen out of hundreds of young Polynesian women.
Her first name pronounced “Ow-Lee-Ee“, Cravalho endured the wind and cold to make stops around the morning circuit here including CITY‘s Breakfast Television and a taping of Entertainment CITY. In addition, she appeared on CP24 Breakfast and Global‘s The Morning Show after meeting with Press all day yesterday.
We met the star herself this morning, flower adorning her hair, and full of charm. She loved Billy!

Industry numbers are projecting approximately $75 million for the title across North America, over the U.S. Thanksgiving Holiday. The Animated Feature is about a young girl (Cravalho) and her journey with Demigod Maui (recent PEOPLE Magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive honouree Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson) to becoming a master wayfinder. Along the way, she fulfills an ancient quest for her ancestors. A true show of confidence from the “House of the Mouse” in its product is that it has topped its competitiors in spending on TV advertising up through this past Sunday according to Variety.

The ’90s saw huge success for both musical trio WILSON PHILLIPS and actor Billy Baldwin. To raise awareness for mental health and addiction, both frontwoman Chynna Phillips and Baldwin are in Toronto, speaking last night at a gala held at Ritz-Carlton Hotel for Healthy Minds Canada.
In support of their visit, the couple made a number of morning show visits around town including Your Morning, The Morning Show and Breakfast Television.
Despite it raining, Baldwin and Phillips were awesome to stop for a snap. The two have been ardent supporters of the Rally for Kids in recent years, having visited the City for the fundraiser. Baldwin appeared in the news recently for his controversials tweets at his brother Stephen over his statements on Twitter about Hillary Clinton.
With the Olympic Games Rio 2016 coming to an end, Team Canada made their way back to Toronto last night and up and at ’em early today to talk about their experiences were 100 Metre Women’s Freestyle gold medalist Penny Oleksiak with Michelle Williams, Brittany MacLean and Sandy Mainville. The quartet started their day walking on-foot to their Breakfast Television appearance (where they munched on Tim Hortons goodies), before heading over to The Morning Show. Although there wasn’t much time for fan interaction, Oleksiak, Williams, MacLean and Mainville stopped for some Selfies with Fans after their last interview of the morning.
