How INHERENT VICE has remained off our radars this long is a bit of a mystery, but brilliant Director Paul Thomas Anderson‘s latest effort is about to be seen next month at the New York Film Festival, where it is set to debut. Seen in this just-released still is a barely-recognizable Reese who must be applauded for re-inventing herself. Fall 2014 is slated with a triple-punch from the Oscar Winner with WILD, THE GOOD LIE and now THIS! Joaquin Phoenix always makes our day and it’s awesome seeing him in something more on the comedic side here.
Official Synopsis:
When private eye Doc Sportello’s ex-old lady suddenly out of nowhere shows up with a story about her current billionaire land developer boyfriend whom she just happens to be in love with, and a plot by his wife and her boyfriend to kidnap that billionaire and throw him in a loony bin…well, easy for her to say.
It’s the tail end of the psychedelic `60s and paranoia is running the day and Doc knows that “love” is another of those words going around at the moment, like “trip” or “groovy,” that’s being way too overused—except this one usually leads to trouble.
With a cast of characters that includes surfers, hustlers, dopers and rockers, a murderous loan shark, LAPD Detectives, a tenor sax player working undercover, and a mysterious entity known as the Golden Fang, which may only be a tax dodge set up by some dentists… Part surf noir, part psychedelic romp—all Thomas Pynchon (who wrote the Novel which the Film is based upon).
First of all, did we read right? ERIC ROBERTS?! Who not too long ago was in Toronto filming Suits?!? Can we say career resurgence??! This looks positively too good to be true.
Secondly, can we name the Cast? Look at this: Joaquin Phoenix, Katherine Waterston, Reese Witherspoon, Jena Malone, Owen Wilson, Benicio Del Toro, Eric Roberts, Maya Rudolph, Martin Short and Josh Brolin. The last time we see Phoenix and Witherspoon on-screen together, Oscars got handed out…
See the brand-new Trailer:
Was that Josh Brolin ordering a Pancake in Japanese? That’s how you know you’ve found a Winner!
Warner Bros. releases INHERENT VICE on Friday, December 12, 2014.

We are thrilled to announce that Netflix will be streaming a Film we’re terribly excited about. Our obsession in 2000 was CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON, the multiple Oscar-winning Ang Lee Film. And now Director Yuen Wo-Ping continues the legend with CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON: THE GREEN LEGEND.
Reprising her role as Yu Shu-Lien is Michelle Yeoh (Memoirs of a Geisha). Donnie Yen also returns as Silent Wolf.
Netflix will stream the Original Movie on Friday, August 28, 2015. It will also screen in IMAX in select theatres.

I maintain that Victoria Duffield is so under-appreciated. I’ve been touting this young lady since her first Single and just released today is her new Video for PAPER PLANES. Uber-catchy, and I love that she always brings it with the dancing. Her Tunes are Earworms. LOVE. And is that the CN Tower we see in the background there? Toronto represent!

At long last! We’ve been wondering about where Fergie went and with marriage and childbearing to blame (how absolutely unacceptable! jk!) and before the end of 2014 it looks like we are getting one of our biggest Pop Music wishes, a return of The Duchess!! The globetrotting Track gives love to Cities around the World well, because basically The Duchess is adored all around the World, naturally.
The Songstress, who now goes credited as Fergie Duhamel, teams with Dijon McFarlane (DJ Mustard), Shomari Wilson, Royce Thomas Theron Thomas on the Track which sounds more like a warm-up to things to come, now that we’re complaining. We’re just happy to hear new Music. We LOVED her 2006 Solo Debut, so this is a bit of a victory for us.

We’ve seen it and loved it. Chelsea Handler is at her baddest in her latest release, UGANDA BE KIDDING ME LIVE and we want it no other way! Just when you thought it wasn’t possible to “go there”, believe me, SHE GOES ALL THE WAY IN! The totally politically-incorrect 70-minute laugh-fest has the Comedienne/Actress/Author/Television Personality pairing Photos from her life together with some of the most awkwardly-funny stories from her life including her Travels (from her Book, UGANDA BE KIDDING ME), the focus of this new Comedy Special.
Whether it be the time she pooped her pants, her loathing of tight vaginas or even rape she finds a way to own it, sell it and make it somehow laughable and that takes true talent. Black people, Lesbians, Asian people, Animals seem to be a recurring theme in her Routine and the observations are back back funnier than ever. Handler is mean, she’s nasty, but she’s downright real and there is something about that which connects to a post-Eminem era. At once, she always humbles herself with alarmingly-accurate timing.
One thing I’ve realized is that when it comes to Handler, I still prefer seeing her interact with Guests on Chelsea Lately. She has the uncanny ability of making us feel like we’re part of a Girls’ Night Out – a Friend – when she interviews and chats casually onscreen and somehow that bit of BFF charm gets lost in seeing her Live Shows.
Nonetheless, I can think of no funnier way to spend a Friday night at home seeing UGANDA BE KIDDING ME LIVE on Netflix!See the Trailer below:
We were lucky enough to attend Handler‘s CHELSEA CHELSEA BANG BANG Tour back in 2010 and got to meet her!

Celebrating the completion of an ambitious $60 million capital campaign towards the $360 million redevelopment of Toronto East General Hospital, the Laughter is the Best Medicine II Gala took place this evening at Allstream Centre. With soon-to-be-completed Ken and Marilyn Thomson Patient Care Centre being a primary point of focus, Stars came out to show their support for the fantastic Cause. Spotted were the likes of Comedian Gerry Dee and the Toronto Maple Leafs’ Jonas Siegel, Joffrey Lupul and more.
Emceeing the Black Tie Affair a second year, Toronto Funnyman Will Arnett continues to show his commitment to the Cause, while the likes of Comedian Mario Joyner, Cancer-surviving Singer Joseph Neale and Headliner Chris Rock took to the stage. The Party moved over to Muzik Nightclub after midnight.
Arriving shortly after 9:00 PM, Rock graced an intimate Red Carpet before entertaining the Crowd, certainly not holding back with several of his bold yet daringly-funny political observations. Any Fan of Chris Rock would certainly have known exactly what to expect and he delivered the laughs.
Tonight’s visit actually was the Emmy and Grammy Award Winner’s second visit to the City this month. He received tons of acclaim for his latest Film Top Five at TIFF ’14 a couple weeks back, the Comedy sparking a bidding war before ultimately Paramount Pictures secured distribution rights in North America.
Guests tonight had the opportunity to bid on a multitude of elaborate auction items, one including a Will Arnett-signed Rob Ford Bobblehead fetching $9k. Other auctions included a trip for two to Paris with a cooking course at prestigious Le Cordon Bleu.

Finally! A Title we’re extremely excited about to film in our City this Fall. Acclaimed Writer/Actor/Director Thomas McCarthy and the Cast of Spotlight currently are in Boston beginning filming for the Drama based on a True Story. The Film centers on the Boston Globe‘s investigation, which began in 2001 uncovering an abuse scandal within the Boston Archdiocese involving several victims of sexual abuse at the hands of ordained Priests. Suicides resulted often among victims as a result of the shame they had experienced.
The Film stars Rachel McAdams (seen in above new Still), Stanley Tucci, Liev Schreiber, Mark Ruffalo, James Slattery, Billy Crudup, Brian d’Arcy James and Michael Keaton, the latter on the verge of a major career rebirth with all the acclaim BIRDMAN is receiving.
Filming takes place in Boston for the next week before heading to Toronto through early November. eOne Films will be handling distribution in Canada. We are terribly excited!
In other news, the Thriller Room starring Up-and-Comer Brie Larson is set to film in Toronto early October through mid-December. The Film its told from the perspective of a five-year-old Boy who is held captive in a room with is Mother, played by Larson. Lenny Abrahamson directs the Project.
