Judd Apatow‘s The King of Staten Island, based on the life of Pete Davidson now will get an on-demand release. Believe me, we were ready to pay to see this in theatres! See the Trailer.
Synopsis:
Scott (Davidson) has been a case of arrested development ever since his firefighter father died when he was seven. He’s now reached his mid-20s having achieved little, chasing a dream of becoming a tattoo artist that seems far out of reach. As his ambitious younger sister (Maude Apatow, HBO’s Euphoria) heads off to college, Scott is still living with his exhausted ER nurse mother (Oscar® winner Marisa Tomei) and spends his days smoking weed, hanging with the guys—Oscar (Ricky Velez, Master of None), Igor (Moises Arias, Five Feet Apart) and Richie (Lou Wilson, TV’s The Guest Book)—and secretly hooking up with his childhood friend Kelsey (Bel Powley, Apple TV+’s The Morning Show).
But when his mother starts dating a loudmouth firefighter named Ray (Bill Burr, Netflix’s F Is for Family), it sets off a chain of events that will force Scott to grapple with his grief and take his first tentative steps toward moving forward in life.
The film also stars Steve Buscemi as Papa, a veteran firefighter who takes Scott under his wing, and Pamela Adlon (FX’s Better Things) as Ray’s ex-wife, Gina.

Review by Amanda Gilmore for Mr. Will Wong
After Frankie (Isabelle Huppert) finds out she has a serious illness she summons her family and close friends to join her on a holiday in Sintra, Portugal.
Director Ira Sachs has a way of shooting a Film with many characters and making it feel intimate. The Script is rich with uniquely different characters who have particular quirks in their dialects. These loveable and honest characters are brought to life by a killer Cast consisting of Huppert who is hilarious here, the beguiling Marisa Tomei and more. Frankie is a fusion of Drama and Comedy with insightful lessons on life.
Frankie screens at TIFF on Wed, Sep 11 at Princess of Wales at 6 PM and Thu, Sep 12 at Winter Garden Theatre at 2:30 pm

“You’re the Spider-Man from YouTube!”.
Although we had our doubts, this new Trailer for SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING alleviates many concerns. And if it’s an added incentive, Robert Downey Jr. gets plenty of screen time as his Iron-Man/Tony Stark gets a pivotal story line crossing here as Spider-Man/Peter Parker‘s mentor.
Synopsis:
A young Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland), who made his sensational debut in Captain America: Civil War, begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging super hero in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, Peter returns home, where he lives with his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), under the watchful eye of his new mentor Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.). Peter tries to fall back into his normal daily routine – distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man – but when the Vulture (Michael Keaton) emerges as a new villain, everything that Peter holds most important will be threatened.

Things like this just break my heart. Marisa Tomei always has been one of my favourite Actresses and it saddens me that she has a reputation as a Celebrity who doesn’t often take Photos or sign Autographs for Fans. My chance came today to ask for a Photo at the Roy Thomson Hall Premiere for Inescapable and after agreeing to it after seeing my excitment, I snapped a moment late and what results is this! At least I have the memory of meeting her. Stunning!
Tomei is brilliant in Inescapable as a Syrian Woman. Read my Review of the Film here.
