Monsters are rejoicing this weekend as Lady Gaga finally unveiled new material from her much-discussed fourth Studio Disc ARTPOP, due in November. Performing a Live Set at London’s Roundhouse earlier today, Gaga explained her inspiration behind the forthcoming Disc, which perhaps is her most eclectic and artistic to date, veering from some of the commerciality we loved and adored on The Fame and The Fame Monster.
Lady Gaga states in a British accent:
“When I was making ARTPOP, I was thinking to myself what I truly wanted. What was the intention of the Album? I not only wanted to make Music you love because I want to make you happy, but I also wanted to make Music that made me free. Now I don’t mean to make this about me but when I say that what I mean is that I want to set myself free of this Box – this Box they put you in in Pop Music. It’s as if I have to say inside the box to be a Good Girl. I don’t want to stay in the Box. I want to live outside the Box with all of you. So I made some Music that’s a little bit different from what I made before but I made it because I’m a Fan. I’m a Fan of all different kinds of Music. Aren’t you?”.
Based on what we heard from her iTunes Festival Performance, ARTPOP appears to be a highly experimental mixture of Electronic Dance-Pop, early ’80s-inspired Rock, Hip-Hop – it veers to a much more theatrical, darker direction than ever before for Gaga, but she appears to be in her element here. The question is whether or Mainstream Fans will embrace this, but this surely is something she’s fully aware of as she transitions to another plain in her already massive Career.
Pay particular attention to the Track Swine, the rumoured second Single from ARTPOP which is said to target Perez Hilton, with whom she currently is still feuding. Gaga sings, “I know I know I know you really want me/You’re just a pig inside a human body/Squeal Squeal Squeal/You’re so disgusting/You’re just a pig inside”.

Big night in Brooklyn! The Stars of Music were out in full force tonight at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York for the MTV Video Music Awards, with the neighbouring streets being shut down for a huge Red Carpet Spectacle not unlike our v. own MuchMusic Video Awards. Funnyman Jimmy Fallon hosted the festivities.
Marquee names like Robin Thicke, Miley Cyrus, One Direction, Selena Gomez, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and Lady Gaga walked the Carpet, many impressing with their style – some choices wilder than others. Perry scored high points for her Leopard-print Emanuel Ungaro dress adorned with gold butterflies, sporting a Grill in her mouth. Gomez also was a Winner on the Carpet with her daring and revealing Versace dress which proclaimed loud and clear that she’s all grown up now! Gaga meanwhile was understated, sexy and elegant with a black Prabal Gurung dress adorned with a train and bow on her waist.
In addition to ‘NSync reuniting with Justin Timberlake for the first time in several years making headlines, they performed Bye Bye Bye and Girlfriend together with the Pop Megastar, who also won Best Editing (Mirrors) and Best Direction (Suit & Tie). More importantly, top honours of Video of the Year went to Timberlake also for Mirrors, a touching eight-minute Tribute to his Grandparents; his Grandfather had passed away just last November. Watch the ‘NSync Reunion here.
Also garnering importance was Hip-Hop Act Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, who won Best Hip-Hop Video for Can’t Hold Us (ft. Ray Dalton) and also winning with Same Love (ft. Mary Lambert) for Best Video with a Social Message. The Duo performed the latter live before the Audience and were joined on-stage in a surprise performance from Oscar and Grammy Winner Jennifer Hudson.
Lady Gaga kicked-off the night with a band as we saw her transform through her several evolutions via wigs during her Performance of new Single, Applause. An impressed Macklemore was seen admiring her Performance greatly nodding his head in awe. Watch her performance here.
Miley Cyrus also caught our attentions in a revealing Teddy Bear Bodysuit with giant dancing Teddy Bears on-stage, performing her Summer Hit We Can’t Stop. She then was joined on-stage by red-hot Robin Thicke who performed both Blurred Lines and latest Single Give it 2 U. Jaws dropped as she Twerked before the Audience with her tongue sticking out! Watch the Performance here.
Bruno Mars gets high points for electrifying the Audience with a stirring Prince-inspired rendition of latest Single, Gorilla as green lasers filled the Arena.
Katy Perry after much hype, capped-off the night performing latest Single Roar from underneath the Brooklyn Bridge dressed in a Michelle Rodriguez/Girlfight-inspired outfit in a Boxing Ring. A grand Affair indeed! Watch her Performance here.
Other big Winners tonight include Selena Gomez winning Best Pop Video for Come & Get It and also her Friend Taylor Swift for Best Female Pop Video with I Knew You Were Trouble. Newcomer Austin Mahone also was named Artist to Watch.

Twitter Drama aside, Lady Gaga unleashed her new Video for Single Applause earlier this morning on ABC‘s Good Morning America and soon after it surfaced online. There’s something unmistakably ’90s and Madonna-esque about the Clip which blends Fashion, Art, the Circus and Broadway together into a grand Spectacle.
Directed by Photographers Inez and Vinoodh give us elegance and flash. Not sure that the Public generally can access what Gaga is going for here, but that always has been her way. Bottom line, we need to look at it over and over.

Although it’s a bit of a Grower, we’re pleased to know that Lady Gaga‘s brand new Single Applause from forthcoming Studio Disc, Artpop, doesn’t disappoint! After much controversy sparked online last night with word of a possible leak following a trail of Snippets, iHeartRadio got the exclusive first and premiered the Track last weekend and today its official Lyric Video was released.
Written and produced by both Gaga and longtime Collaborator DJ White Shadow, the Track was released a week early to Radio after originally being slated for a release on August 19, 2013.
The Track definitely is in the same vein as Gaga‘s Hit Telephone – high energy, Euro-Electro-Pop and an air of ’80s-ness in its Melody. Certainly years more sophisticated than some of the material we got on Born This Way and we’re glad she took her time this time. Gotta love the Annie Lennox-isms she’s got going on in the Breakdown even though this surely isn’t on the level of Bad Romance nor Poker Face.
Without further ado, check-out the Applause Lyric Video in full:
Applause will be available as a free download with the pre-order of Lady Gaga‘s new Disc Artpop on iTunes. Artpop is in stores November 11, 2013 via Universal Music Canada.

As the online Feud between Lady Gaga and Perez Hilton continues, the global Megastar may have created more Enemies than Fans with one of her latest Tweets. Hilton is cited as one of Lady Gaga‘s greatest Champions from the time she had first launched her Career, going on to become a great online presence. The Blogger seems to have taken sides in the battle of the Pop Queens: Katy Perry vs. Lady Gaga, both who have a crucial month in August with brand new Singles slated for release.
Once known as good friends, their Friendship appears to have soured dramatically over the past year, beginning with a Hilton-directed Tweet last year: “Its alright I’ve had friends betray me this year. Cuz I mean, next time we have a massive success, I’ll know who to take on the ride, and who not to. I used to let everyone on my roller coaster. Now I will be more careful letting people into my life.”. Hilton later responded, indirectly at Gaga, “I’ve had friends betray me this year. It hurts. Deeply. But I’m still gonna remain open and be real, grounded, honest and not enable! #Love”.
With Perry‘s brand new Single Roar having surfaced online yesterday, Hilton has been somewhat passive-aggressive in his support for her, she also benefiting greatly from his support when launching her Solo Career around the same time as Gaga back in 2008. He Tweeted yesterday, “And if you haven’t heard it yet, listen to @KatyPerry‘s new smash #Roar HERE: http://perez.ly/13OpXFO“.
Just hours after Roar had surfaced, a seven-second Snippet of Gaga‘s new Single Applause also appeared online. Hilton Tweeted, “A snippet of @LadyGaGa‘s new single #Applause has leaked. Listen HERE https://soundcloud.com/pawsup1986/lady-gaga-applause-snippet … The chorus is underwhelming!! What do U think?”. He worsened the blow with an even nastier Tweet, “Bad parts of a song leaking far in advance is way worse than a full song leaking early! Yikes!!!”.
Responding presumably to Hilton‘s lack of support, Gaga had Tweeted this morning: “Dont focus on ANY blogger criticism. I have been a producer/songwriter/musician for over 10 years. Trust the artist bloggers are not critics”. What Gaga needs to understand is the weight of her statement.
Being a Blogger myself, I recall having received communications from her Online Marketing Team at Atom Factory Inc. on multiple occasions in the thick of her ascension, encouraging us to post about her new Music and partnerships with companies such as Polaroid. I find it interesting and somewhat hurtful that Lady Gaga now is implying that our opinions really don’t matter. Is this really the way she wants to go about promoting a new Single in the Digital Age? As part of the Monster Fandom, we Bloggers helped make Gaga who she is today with her showing up in over 468,000,000 Google Searches.
Although several would say that Lady Gaga‘s statement is directed at Perez Hilton exclusively, her Tweet is what it is, stating specifically not to focus on “ANY blogger criticism”. What’s even more insulting is that I’m actually musically-trained and a Blogger. Her blanket statement implies that all Bloggers have no musical qualifications.
Although the commercial success of Roar versus Applause still has yet to be determined, what we are witnessing is something both fascinating and terrifying in how online perception can benefit or potentially crumble an Artist’s Publicity Trail. This is why we need Publicists, people. Is Lady Gaga correct in her opinion or is she out-of-line, or is Perez Hilton being outright vicious? Also, what are Katy Perry‘s thoughts on all of this?

Our 2013 has been made. Pop Royalty Lady Gaga confirmed last night at an intimate Dinner in New York City, dates for new Music and ventures after an extended wait prolonged by her need for Hip Surgery in February.

Just when I thought he’d disappeared completely from my memory, this weekend while out and about for the 2013 MuchMusic Video Awards, I encountered a familiar face once again. Unfortunately it wasn’t one I have fond memories of.
As I noticed Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger being ushered in and out of their Hotel on their way to the Awards, I was quite shocked to see “Ed“, former Lady Gaga Bodyguard, among their Entourage. My most loyal Readers will remember him as being the Guy who roughed me up a couple years back, prompting me to write a letter to Gaga‘s Management, which was reviewed right away.
Surely, I can’t be the only Fan who had a bad experience with him and although we cannot confirm if his departure from Camp Gaga was voluntary or involuntary, it sure looks as though he hasn’t changed one bit. Although I’m a bit red-in-the-face to read that Piece again recalling my Run-in with him back in March 2011, here it is. The memories and emotions were real at the time and I’ll be the first to admit that it hurt.
Those who watched the MuchMusic Video Awards last night will notice Ed‘s graceless blunder as Lavigne’s SUV arrived on the Red Carpet, where they were greeted by Host T-RexXx. As is the case with all other Guests last night, the Host extended a warm welcome to all by opening their Car Doors for them. Of course, Ed gracelessly tried thwarting the perfectly harmless greeting before realizing his own overreaction, which was captured by Cameras. What was he thinking? The Guy had a MuchMusic Mic in his hand! I mean, I’m all for protecting the Talent and doing your job, but this is just beyond.
I could watch this on loop all day:
Finally! Although I’m sure many of us scoffed at the idea of a Sequel, Machete Kills, now I think I get why it was necessary after seeing this brand new Teaser Trailer for the Action-Thriller! Robert Rodrigez helms once again in this completely over-the-top, high-octane burst of adrenaline.
Jessica Alba, Lady Gaga (her acting debut!), Michelle Rodriguez, Sofia Vergara, Antonio Banderas, Vanessa Hudgens, Amber Heard, Cuba Gooding Jr., Charlie Sheen also star and of course Danny Trejo returns.

You children of the ’80s and early ’90s will absolutely love this. My Good Friend Raj Rudolph, Creator of popular Music Blog Electroqueer officially has branched into Artist Management over in the UK and this Collaboration Silent Morning merges the talents of his Artists Parralox and Ryan Adamés. Recalling that fun Freestyle Sound of the late, there is something familiar and highly-likeable about the Track which recalls sorta where Danish Pop Sensations Alphabeat were sorta heading a few years back. Love.
Listen to the Track in full below:
Even Martin Kierszenbaum (Cherry Cherry Boom Boom), President of Cherrytree Records, who’s produced for Lady Gaga, Far East Movement, Alexandra Burke and several more, was so inspired by the Track that he decided to remix it too! Hear it here.
