#FIRSTLOOK: “TRON: ARES” NEW IMAGE
Today, Disney released the exciting first look at “TRON: Ares,” the highly anticipated, new installment in the groundbreaking “TRON” franchise. The film started production in January in Vancouver and is slated for release in 2025.
“TRON: Ares” is a follow-up to Disney’s 1982 seminal science fiction film “TRON” and the 2010 sequel, “TRON: Legacy.”
Joachim Rønning directs “TRON: Ares” and says, “I’m excited to be part of the TRON franchise and bring this new film to fans around the world. ‘TRON: Ares’ builds upon the legacy of cutting-edge design, technology and storytelling. Now more than ever, it feels like the right time to return to the Grid.”
“TRON: Ares” follows a highly sophisticated Program, Ares, who is sent from the digital world into the real world on a dangerous mission, marking humankind’s first encounter with A.I. beings.
The feature film stars Jared Leto, Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Hasan Minhaj, Jodie Turner-Smith, Arturo Castro, Cameron Monaghan, with Gillian Anderson.
Sean Bailey, Jeffrey Silver, Justin Springer, Jared Leto, Emma Ludbrook and Steven Lisberger are the producers, with Russell Allen serving as executive producer.
#FIRSTLOOK: NEW TRAILER FOR “HAUNTED MANSION”
Look alive, foolish mortals! We’re dying for you to view our teaser trailer and poster for Disney’s comically creepy adventure “Haunted Mansion,” which will appear in theatres on July 28, 2023.
Directed by award-winning filmmaker Justin Simien, the film features an all-star ensemble cast including LaKeith Stanfield, Tiffany Haddish, Owen Wilson, Danny DeVito, Rosario Dawson, Chase W. Dillon and Dan Levy, with Jamie Lee Curtis and Jared Leto as The Hatbox Ghost.
Director Simien says, “As a lifelong fan of the Haunted Mansion attraction, I’m beyond excited to share the teaser trailer for our new film adaptation featuring an incredible cast. Our team has worked tirelessly to create a scary, funny and cinematic otherworldly adventure for both new and die-hard fans to enjoy! Inspired by the classic theme park attraction, “Haunted Mansion” is about a woman and her son who enlist a motley crew of so-called spiritual experts to help rid their home of supernatural squatters. The film’s producers are Dan Lin andJonathan Eirich, with Nick Reynolds and Tom Peitzman serving as executive producers.
#SXSW: “WECRASHED”

Eight-part Mini-Series WECRASHED recounts the rapid rise and fall of WeWork, which started in 2010 under Adam Neumann (Jared Leto) and Miguel McKelvey (Kyle Marvin). The Company gave new startup technology companies, among other new enterprises, the ability to acquire flexible workspaces. We get a glimpse of the egos that governed the WeWork, namely Adam and his wife Rebekah (Anne Hathaway), which led the company to face great scrutiny in its unconventional business practices and future outlook, failing in its initial offering of company stock. The directing duo of John Requa and Glenn Ficarra manage to take this spectacular failure which just now in 2021 is finally recovering from near-fatality, succeeding in being a publicly-shared company, making incredible entertainment of it all.
At the center of the story is Adam, just a fledgling entrepreneur who thinks and talks big. His way of working lands him not only the gig of his dreams, but also the woman of his dreams in Rebekah. We meet the latter as a struggling Yoga Instructor (making $1 per student) and Actress (she’s legitimately a first cousin to Gwyneth Paltrow). He swings big and has that magical ability to persuade getting others and more often than not, they buy into his infectious charisma. We’re taking notes, trust me.
The Series works on two levels. On the surface it is a study of how a company which had a valuation of $47 billion at one point, saw several missteps that led to its value plummeting. And just when you think it’s over, it isn’t. It also is a love story between a pair of narcissists and their commitment to making WeWork thrive because it keeps giving them each their own platform to be noticed and heard. This is a thing of marvel.
Leto nails the Comedy of this and is cast well, convincing in Adam‘s delusion of grandeur. We wished we got a bit more nuance though as it feels as though this is a portrayal of Adam (don’t get us wrong, he is great) more so when he’s “on”. What we would’ve wanted more of was a balancing of some of the dramatic elements, giving us an understanding of the drive behind the man who deceived and manipulated his way to a payout in the billions. Hathaway also gets the humour behind all this, but we are able to get a bit further under the surface with Rebekah and what makes her tick. Whether it be her failed attempt at acting, dealing relentlessly with people using her as an “in” with her famous cousin, or her relationship with her father Bob Paltrow (Peter Jacobson), who was jailed for tax evasion, Hathaway gets Rebekah‘s darkest vulnerabilities and why defeat for her just isn’t an option. America Ferrera joins the story as Elishia Kennedy, a bright entrepreneur grappling with her own separation from her husband, lured into the shimmer of what Adam and Rebekah are selling. She is fantastic and like her, we wonder “Is Adam for real?”.
It’s all like watching an accident and its aftermath unfold, which is exactly what we signed-up for.
The first three episodes of WECRASHED premiere March 18, 2022 on Apple TV+, with new episodes arriving weekly.

#SPOTTED: DAVID AYER, MARGOT ROBBIE + WILL SMITH IN TORONTO FOR THE “SUICIDE SQUAD” BELLE REVE PENITENTIARY FAN EXPERIENCE
Few can deny that SUICIDE SQUAD is the highlight of Summer 2016 at the Movies, thus it is only fitting that the Warner Bros. Blockbuster returns to the place where it all began last spring for what could be the highest-grossing Film ever to be made in our City. Primed for a release, the DC Comics adaptation brought in Director David Ayer, along with stars Margot Robbie and Will Smith for an ultra-exclusive Red Carpet bash at the Distillery district’s Fermenting Cellar.
The Trio walked the Red Carpet in celebration of the Film taglined with the catch-phrase “Worst. Heroes. Ever.“, bringing together Super Villains in an operation to protect the safety of the President of the United States and its people. Just last weekend the Cast were at San Diego Comic-Con promoting the release and they were out in Miami earlier this week interacting with Fans!
Robbie looked a vision, Bohameian-chic, while Ayer and Smith kept it cool and casual, keeping in mind this was a party and they are after all… one of us, right? Right?
Mayor John Tory and the Trio did a ribbon-cutting ceremony together with eTalk’s Ben Mulroney, with Tory welcoming them back any time and gifting them with plaques from our City.
SUICIDE SQUAD stars Will Smith, Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, Jay Hernandez, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Ike Barinholtz, Scott Eastwood, Cara Delevingne and Adam Beach.

#SPOTTED: JARED LETO IN TORONTO FOR “SUICIDE SQUAD”
Talk about a real mission impossible! Sometimes all you need is a bit of luck on your hands. We had the amazing pleasure of running into The Joker himself, Jared Leto today in the City. Believe me, after many attempts to find him on the set of Suicide Squad, we’d just about given up. Time after time we’d get a faint hand-wave seen through the tinted window of his white Yukon after some long waits overnight, sacrificing our entire weekend more than once. And we’ve read the disappointing Fan interactions on Social Media where he simply would decline Selfies around the City and walk along in a non-caring manner. When you don’t expect it, that’s when it happens most and that’s been our Motto in life.
Sporting green Joker hair and a signature Nepal, I Love You T-shirt, showing his ardent support and spreading continued awareness for the country after a devastating earthquake back in April, we crossed paths with the Academy Award-winning Actor. He was headed-up the Escalator, my heart raced and my ears pricked and acting on instinct, I whipped-out my Samsung Galaxy S6. Without speaking a word, he gazed right into the lens for a quick pose, I pressed “snap” and despite reacting just a millisecond late, we managed to get a super-rare Snap with The Joker himself right side by side with us. Our shoulders touched. He said “yes” to the Selfie … with his eyes!!! We’re still on Cloud Nine and appreciate any interaction with him at this point as we know first-hand how tough Leto‘s been to catch.
His acclaimed performance as transgendered Rayon was everything to us and we were sad knowing he was in-town for Dallas Buyers Club TIFF ’13 and we missed him completely!
He continued ahead of us with his Handler and as luck would have it, we were both Airport-bound Civic Day weekend – him off to see a loved one and we off to New Jersey for a super-short visit (Triple Crown Champ American Pharoah in the $1.75 million Haskell Invitational).
Suicide Squad wraps later this month in the City, before getting a release exactly a year later in August 2016 via Warner Bros.
