#SPOTTED: JOSEPH CHIU AND CARLY FORTUNE IN TORONTO FOR “EVERY YEAR AFTER” WATERSIDE SCREENING

Famed Toronto Young Adult author Carly Fortune and star Joseph Chiu got a big waterside welcome home after a successful press tour! A special screening and reception for EVERY YEAR AFTER was held by Prime Video Canada, with Toronto’s scenic Sugar Beach as a backdrop, not unlike Barry’s Beach, where the Series is set.

The eight episode Romantic-Drama is based on Fortune‘s best-selling novel EVERY SUMMER AFTER, centering on Percy (Sadie Soverall) as she returns to Barry’s Bay where she spent many a summer growing-up. She last left cottage country in shame and returns after receiving word her former love Sam (Matt Cornett) and his brother Charlie’s (Michael Bradway) mother has passed. The flames re-ignite as Percy must face her past and current self.

The event held at Irene featured bites and cocktails inspired by the EVERY YEAR AFTER, permanent bracelets by GEMLET, plus a Q&A with Fortune and Chiu following a screening of episode one. We learned Chiu, like we, are U of T alumni. So great getting to mix and mingle with the two, and also OFF CAMPUS author Elle Kennedy made an appearance as well.

#FIRSTLOOK: NEW TRAILER FOR “EVERY YEAR AFTER”

Today, Prime Video released the trailer for Every Year After, the series based on Carley Fortune’s bestselling novel Every Summer After. The Amazon Original series will debut all episodes on June 10, 2026 with an eight-episode season, and will premiere exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories around the world.

Told over the course of six years and one week in Barry’s Bay – the quintessential lake town – Every Year After is a romantic, nostalgic story of first loves and the people and choices that mark us forever.

The series is based on the best-selling novel by Carley Fortune, “Every Summer After” – which spent 16 weeks on the New York Times Bestseller list, has sold 1M+ copies to date, gaining popularity through BookTok with the book hashtag receiving over 81.4M views on TikTok.

Every Year After stars Sadie Soverall (Saltburn) and Matt Cornett (High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, Summer of 69) as Percy and Sam, the couple at the center of the love story.
