#FIRSTLOOK: NETFLIX’S “THIS SUMMER WILL BE DIFFERENT” NOW IN PRODUCTION

Netflix today announced the start of production for This Summer Will Be Different, based on the novel by the New York Times bestselling Canadian author, Carley Fortune.

The show is filming on Prince Edward Island (PEI) and in Toronto.

Additionally, a new image of the previously announced cast was revealed.

Netflix also announced new recurring cast, including Jordan Rodrigues as “Miles Lam,” Jude Wilson as “Zach”, Natalie Brown as “Christine”, James Tupper as “Ken”, Tom Barnett as “Peter” and Celia Owen as “Joy”.

Logline: This Summer Will Be Different, based on the beloved novel by Carley Fortune, is a simmering, sun-soaked romance set across multiple summers on Prince Edward Island about Lucy, a young woman navigating her 20s and her first real love with her best friend’s brother, the one person she was never supposed to fall for.

French-Canadian actress Sophie Nélisse (Yellowjackets, Heated Rivalry) will play “Lucy” in Netflix’s adaptation of Canadian author Carley Fortune’s bestselling contemporary romance novel This Summer Will Be Different.

Nélisse starred in her breakout role as “Young Shauna” in Emmy-nominated drama Yellowjackets. She recently starred in Heated Rivalry as fan-favorite role as “Rose Landry”.

#SPOTTED: JOSEPH CHIU AND CARLY FORTUNE IN TORONTO FOR “EVERY YEAR AFTER” WATERSIDE SCREENING

Famed Toronto Young Adult author Carly Fortune and star Joseph Chiu got a big waterside welcome home after a successful press tour! A special screening and reception for EVERY YEAR AFTER was held by Prime Video Canada, with Toronto’s scenic Sugar Beach as a backdrop, not unlike Barry’s Beach, where the Series is set.

The eight episode Romantic-Drama is based on Fortune‘s best-selling novel EVERY SUMMER AFTER, centering on Percy (Sadie Soverall) as she returns to Barry’s Bay where she spent many a summer growing-up. She last left cottage country in shame and returns after receiving word her former love Sam (Matt Cornett) and his brother Charlie’s (Michael Bradway) mother has passed. The flames re-ignite as Percy must face her past and current self.

The event held at Irene featured bites and cocktails inspired by the EVERY YEAR AFTER, permanent bracelets by GEMLET, plus a Q&A with Fortune and Chiu following a screening of episode one. We learned Chiu, like we, are U of T alumni. So great getting to mix and mingle with the two, and also OFF CAMPUS author Elle Kennedy made an appearance as well.
