Tamara stepped behind the camera in 2018, writing two seasons of the Indigenous documentary series FUTURE HISTORY(APTN), earning her a Canadian Screen Award nomination for Best Factual Writing. The following year, she joined the Indspire Awards (CBC) as writer and researcher for this nationally-televised variety program, which was nominated for a Canadian Screen Award for Best Biography Series.

ABOUT JAMIE THOMAS KING
Jamie Thomas King is a English-American actor born and raised in London, England, where he began his training with the National Youth Theatre and later received a scholarship to the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA). His big break came when he starred in the Royal National Theatre’s production of Sir Alan Bennett’s “The History Boys”, directed by Sir Nicholas Hytner, followed by a UK tour and a transfer to the West End’s Wyndham Theatre.
For the next twenty years, Jamie moved between film and television, with characters like Guy Mackendrick in the multiple Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning series MAD MEN (AMC), and Sir Thomas Wyatt in two seasons of the historical drama THE TUDORS (Showtime). From popular network shows like PRIVATE PRACTICE (ABC), ELEMENTARY (CBS), CALL THE MIDWIFE (BBC) and MURDOCH MYSTERIES (CBC) to Oscar and BAFTA-winning films like Mike Leigh’s MR. TURNER and Tomas Alfredson’s TINKER, TAILER, SOLDIER, SPY. Jamie established himself as an international screen actor, but never forgot his theatre roots. In 2015, Jamie returned to the stage to join the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford, starring in John Ford’s “Love’s Sacrifice”.
In 2016, following the death of his son Benjamin due to medical error, Jamie took a hiatus from his career to focus on the Coroner’s Inquest. Calling upon everything he learned during the five-year lawsuit, Jamie joined forces with patient safety advocates around the world in their mission to improve global healthcare practices, eventually teaching workshops, offering keynote addresses and creating a Foundation in memory of his son.
Returning to the industry, and following in the path of his late mother, acclaimed screenwriter Laura Lamson, Jamie wrote his first screenplay. After reading OBE Recipient James Titcombe’s memoir Joshua’s Story: Uncovering the Morecambe Bay Maternity Scandal. He secured the rights to the book and adapted it for the screen.
In 2023, Jamie partnered with his wife Tamara Podemski to create Blackbird Productions, subsequently acting as EP and star of their first project, The Light Before the Sun will world premiere at the Hamilton Film Festival in October 2024.

Set at the U.S. Department of Motor Vehicles, DMV stars a brilliant and hilarious ensemble cast including Harriet Dyer, Tim Meadows, Tony Cavalero, Molly Kearney, Gigi Zumbado and Alex Tarranta. Then, joining the FBI-verse and from Emmy® Award-winning executive producer Dick Wolf, comes CIA starring Tom Ellis as a fast-talking, rule-breaking loose cannon CIA case officer. Next up is Sheriff Country starring Morena Baccarin as straight-shooting sheriff Mickey Fox, the stepsister of Cal Fire’s division chief Sharon Leone (Diane Farr of Fire Country) in an expansion of the Fire Country universe. Lastly, The Road is a new singing competition series from executive producers Taylor Sheridan, Blake Shelton and Keith Urban and follows GRAMMY® Award winner Urban on his journey to discover the next big artist with the help of “tour manager,” GRAMMY® Award-winning country artist Gretchen Wilson. Global’s fall lineup also features television’s #1 hits including #1 comedy Ghosts, #1 late night show Saturday Night Live, fresh off celebrating its 50th anniversary, and #1 reality show Survivor, back for its 49th season this fall and what promises to be a legendary 50th season in the spring. Also, Canadian-made Murder in a Small Town returns for a second season with Oscar® winner Marcia Gay Harden joining the cast and popular Canadian original true crime series Crime Beat is back for a seventh season.

In addition, The Morning Show, hosted by Carolyn Mackenzie and Jeff McArthur, continues to be Canada’s #1 Canadian News/Lifestyle morning show and saw a year-over-year audience growth of 17% reaching 1.2 million Canadians weekly, delivering audiences almost two times higher than Your Morning, and over two times higher than Breakfast Television*.
The fresh content continues with more exciting new series joining the schedule mid-season starting with America’s Culinary Cup, a new cooking competition series featuring the most decorated chefs in America and hosted and executive produced by Emmy® Award-nominated food expert Padma Lakshmi. Then, Y: Marshals (working title) is a new drama joining Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone family of shows and stars Luke Grimes as Kayce Dutton. And finally, unscripted series, Harlan Coben’s Final Twist, which features best-selling author Coben, with over 90 million books sold globally and multiple scripted series, as he steps into the true-crime television genre for the first time. The Copenhagen Test, starring Simu Liu, is an espionage thriller series that follows first generation-American intelligence analyst Alexander Hale (Liu) who realizes his brain has been hacked, giving the perpetrators access to everything he sees and hears.
The stakes remain high with PONIES, a spy thriller series starring Emilia Clarke and Haley Lu Richardson, where two “Ponies” (“persons of no interest” in intelligence speak) work anonymously as secretaries in the American Embassy. That is, until their husbands are killed under mysterious circumstances in the USSR and the pair become CIA operatives.
The symphony of hits continues with Amadeus, a new Sky limited series starring Will Sharpe (The White Lotus) and Paul Bettany (A Very British Scandal, WandaVision) that centers around 25-year-old Amadeus (Sharpe) eager to break free from his child prodigy past and controlling father, Amadeus arrives in 18th-century Vienna and meets the devoutly religious court composer, Antonio Salieri (Bettany). Also, Ted, the live-action comedy based on the blockbuster film franchise is back for a second season with Seth MacFarlane reprising the voice of the iconic and lovable foul-mouthed teddy bear. The franchise is also expanding with Ted: The Animated Series (WT), a new animated comedy from MacFarlane that continues Ted’s misadventures following the events of the films. The reign of Bel-Air continues as the modern-day reimagining of the iconic culture-defining ’90s sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, returns for Season 4.

Also coming to the network is dark comedy, The ‘Burbs starring Keke Palmer, which follows a young couple who have reluctantly relocated to the husband’s childhood home. Their world is upended when a new neighbour moves in across the street bringing old secrets of the cul-de-sac to light.
