While production for the Ford EcoSport began back in 2003, the five-door subcompact SUV only made its way to North America in 2018. We’ve never driven anything quite like this compact ride which is tall in height but tight enough to navigate the toughest parking spots downtown. The 2019 Ford EcoSport SES gives drivers versatility and utility.
Firstly, the vehicle is packed with power and purpose with its 2.0L Ti-VCT I-4 engine with Auto Start-Stop Technology and an intelligent 4WD system. The EcoSport moves effortlessly city and highway.
We actually love the EcoSport’s unconventional style and even more, we enjoy its fixings and trimmings. It comes with tasteful ActiveX™-trimmed seating material with metal gray stitching. Evening drives are fun with its ambient lighting and its power moonroof gives it sophistication and mood. Its Push-Button start, proximity keyless entry simplify our day and drive and should be the law.
The EcoSport comes equipped with two USB charging ports keeping driver and passenger connected. Above this, it is equipped with a 4G LTE Wi-Fi Hotspot, capable of connecting to up to a whopping ten devices! If that weren’t enough to process, it also boasts EIGHT beverage holders and an eight-inch touchscreen to navigate its menu and settings.
Music is important to us and syncing via Bluetooth to our Huawei P30 Pro was easy, allowing us to enjoy our Taylor Swift LOVER album on repeat. Its sound system comes SiriusXM-ready with AM/FM, MP3 Capable with seven Speakers. Hear how great it sounds:
Rain-sensing wipers are a thing of wonder for us, giving us one less thing to worry about and the EcoSport not only has this, but also rear-window wipers as well. They also move in-reverse which is inspired. Above this, it comes with key safety features like a super-easy to use and understand rear-view camera which makes backing-in and parallel clear and simple, like it should be!
BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System) with Cross-Traffic Alert has our best interests at heart as I’m sure most have us had at one point or another had a close call.
A couple small critiques. It literally took us 30 minutes to learn how to open back door/trunk of the EcoSport, until a quick YouTube tutorial showed us the way! Once we were able to open the door, which had windows dimmed for privacy, we were pleased how spacious the EcoSport’s trunk was. More on that below.
Another piece is that its anti-theft alerts are hyper-senstitive. On a few occasions after locking the vehicle with our remote, we were startled by the car’s alarm going off, even though we did nothing in particular to trigger it.
While the EcoSport’s fuel economy for city driving at 10.2L/100 km is great, much of our driving was on the highway, where it tallies-in at 8L/100 km leaving room for a bit more bang for your buck.
Weekends are made for memories and we loved celebrating our dear friend Angela’s wedding and the 2019 Ford EcoSport SES made this and the completion of various errands possible, including sending-off my parents and aunts who have been visiting the past few weeks for my nephew Kenny‘s wedding!

September is for lovers, indeed. 💜
We were able to fit-in four suits cases in the EcoSport’s spacious trunk, with one carry-on needing to be carried on my dad’s lap. We made it happen and everyone got to the airport and on their way without a hitch!

A pleasurable weekend ride and the EcoSport was up for everything I threw its way!

Grammy-nominated Pop Duo TEGAN & SARA got a warm welcome home to Canada today. Indigo Bay & Bloor hosted the pair today for an In-Conversation this afternoon. The Hitmakers talked about their new Memoir, High School, which talks about by their origins in Calgary, to becoming an internationally-recognized Pop Outfit. Anne T. Donahue moderated the fully-packed chat.
We ran into the Duo having dinner together at Canteena on King Street and they were nice enough to stop for a quick Snap! I’ve been unlucky getting the Selfie in previous years, but today was my lucky day!

The delightfully-funny Jonathan Van Ness is among the fantastic lineup of comedians in Toronto for the JUST FOR LAUGHS Comedy Festival. The Grooming Expert and star of Netflix’s revival of QUEER EYE venturing into Stand-Up Comedy delivered a spirited set with additional support from others including Naomi Ekperegin, who was a joy. While he showed room for potential, he came sharp with observations about Toronto including U.S. Open victress Bianca Andreescu and even Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s blackface scandal. Regardless, the audience was forgiving and were able to be won by his personality, dancing and gymnastics even. He jokes he fired his agent for booking him the same night as Lizzo in Toronto, the Singer appearing tonight at Budweiser Stage.
We had the pleasure of meeting him afterwards and he was high on getting everyone to watch what he considered an epic moment in history, the U.S. Women’s Gymnastic Team – The Magnificent Seven’s victory in the 1996 Olympics.
