We are way excited for this! Love seeing Sebastian Stan and Lily James transform completely as Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee in one of the biggest scandals of the late ’90s! See the new Teaser for PAM & TOMMY!
Synopsis:
Set in the Wild West early days of the Internet, āPam & Tommyā is based on the incredible true story of the Pamela Anderson (Lily James, āYesterdayā) and Tommy Lee (Sebastian Stan, āThe Falcon & the Winter Soldierā) sex tape. Stolen from the coupleās home by a disgruntled contractor (Seth Rogen, āLong Shotā), the video went from underground bootleg-VHS curiosity to full-blown global sensation when it hit the Web in 1997. A love story, crime caper and cautionary tale rolled into one, the eight-part original limited series explores the intersection of privacy, technology and celebrity, tracing the origins of our current Reality TV Era to a stolen tape seen by millions but meant to have an audience of just two.
āPam & Tommyā is executive produced by Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver and Alex McAtee at Point Grey, and Megan Ellison, Sue Naegle and Ali Krug at Annapurna. The series is written by executive producers Rob Siegel and DV DeVincentis, and directed by executive producer Craig Gillespie. Dylan Sellers, Dave Franco, Chip Vucelich and Sarah Gubbins also serve as executive producers.
The drama series premieres with three episodes on February 2, 2022 on Disney+ under the Star banner. New episodes stream weekly.

What an honour it was getting to Test Drive the 2022 Honda Passport Touring over the Holidays. This gorgeous SUV combines an aggressive cutting-edge style with utility. The Holidays were about taking these challenging circumstances we’re all facing right now across Ontario and making the most of them, attending a few events and seeing friends and family. And of course, stocking on essentials as the province enters Stage Two restrictions. We appreciate the Passport being there for us ensuring we got everywhere safely.
The super-powerful Passport is powered by a 3.5-litre, 24-valve, Direct Injection, SOHC, i-VTECĀ® V6 engine, operating at 280 @ 6000 horsepower. Our vehicle came in a gorgeous Obsidian Blue Pearl with black leather-trimmed seats. We were impressed by the Driver’s Seat’s 10-way adjustable seat with lumbar support. Driver and front passengers also get an adjustable armrest and get this, all seats front and back have seat warmers and a climate control vents! The Passport is a real people pleaser, seating five very comfortably, understanding the intrinsic needs of both Driver and Passenger. And did we mention the spacious trunkspace? This came in handy as we loaded gifts, essentials and groceries as we stocked-up seeing how we plan to stay in a lot over the next bit in a effort to curb these rising case counts.
The SUV comes with a 550-watt AM/FM Premium audio system with MP3/Windows MediaĀ® Audio playback capability and 10 speakers including subwoofer. We are big on having Sirius XM™ Hits 1 blaring in our drives or just our Holiday Spotify Playlists from our phone so we appreciated the fantastic sound. The system is navigated via a Display Audio System and syncing to our phone was a breeze with Bluetooth Streaming Audio. It also is Apple CarPlayĀ®/āAndroid Auto™-ready. You also can tether Wi-Fi, read and respond to text messages via the display.
We recognize that staying charged and connected is important and the Passport comes with a total five charging options including a Wireless Charging Plate. We did have some issues with our phone sliding during our drives though, going on and off the charge. Instead, we opted to plug our phone into one of the USB outlets which charged a lot more efficiently.
The Passport also is loaded with subtle features which improve the driver experience. Things like Ambient Lighting, Maintenance Minder, Tire Pressure Monitor (with Tire Fill Assist too!), Proximity Entry, Active Noise Cancellation, Acoustic Windshields, Rain-Sensing Wipers and just having Rear-Windshield Wipers are things we definitely notice when a car doesn’t come with them. The Passport has all of these.
While this is a rugged SUV, don’t be misled. It nails all the marks in style too. We love its 20″ aluminum-alloy wheels, front and rear splash guards and let’s take a moment to appreciate that beautiful one-touch Moonroof. The Passport is just as obsessed with performance, utility and power as it is looks, and we’re here for it.
Safety during the Holidays always is a concern as we continue to experience of the most erratic winters yet. One week it feels like Spring, one week it’s unmistakably the dead of winter. The SUV‘s rear-view camera is a dream backing-out of parking spots downtown or at the mall, and while it often gets splashed with slush in these conditions, it is important to give it a good wipe so that you reverse with a clear line of site.
We did have to visit the country over the Holidays and might not have made it through as smoothly if it weren’t for the Passport‘s Hill Start Assist which was a lifesaver and sometimes when there’s so much snow, its 4-wheel Anti-lock Braking System, Forward Collision Warnings and Lane/Road Departure Warnings are an undisputable asset. The Passport is armed with SmartVent™ side airbags and Side Curtain Airbags with rollover sensor system in the event they are ever needed. These are the things that both save our lives and the lives of loved ones.
We’re just going to talk about some of our smaller personal challenges with the Passport, though there weren’t many. The Passport runs on Regular gas, has a Fuel Economy of 12.5/9.8/11.3 litres/100 km, hence if you are used to the outstanding value that Honda‘s Sedans give you, this takes a bit of getting used to. We recall on average having to put in about $30-$40 of gas a day in our Holiday travels, whereas for a Honda Civic, that same amount of money could last you a few days of driving. This can add-up quickly but if you favour power and performance, and aren’t concerned as much with more frequent visits to the gas station, the Passport is right up your alley.
Another thing is that I live in a Condo with underground parking. The Passport is rather wide at 2279/2115.8 mm width, including mirrors unfolded/folded and we had a few close calls with the pillars in the parking lot, though the Passport‘s intuitive sensors and alerts ensured we stayed out of damage’s way. Having an automatic folding side mirrors would definitely eliminate some of the worry.
The 2022 Honda Passport Touring starts at $52,170 and you can learn more about it here.
Let’s revisit our Holidays, courtesy of the 2022 Honda Passport Touring!
Wishing you all an amazing New Year ahead! We can’t wait to make new memories in 2022. Thank you, Honda Canada!

You love Funnyman Andrew Phung from Kim’s Convenience and fans will be delighted to see him back on his own new Series, RUN THE BURBS premiering on CBC and CBC Gem!
The energetic Series follows the Pham family, or Phamily if you will, as they relocate to the suburbs, eager to settle-in and be accepted. Over thirteen episodes at 30 minutes each, we follow the antics and lessons learned by Andrew, Camille (Rakhee Morzaria), Khia (Zoriah Wong) and Leo (Roman Pesino) as they adapt to their new locale.
We had the joy of chatting with Co-Creators (and best friends) Scott Townend and Phung, plus breakout star Morzaria about their exciting new Series.
“I was in Calgary filming a Movie, and Scott and I were hanging out eating Pizza and I pitched him this idea about a show set in the suburbs and a family that loved each other. And literally a week before, I was in Montreal with Rakhee. We were at Just for Laughs and we were at a CBC event, and we met-up with Bill Lundy at Pier 21 and he said, ‘I would love to get a pitch Andrew from you about your show”, so it all came together!”, says Phung. “Scott and I took December 2019 to develop the show and brought it to Pier 21 in January and by March we were in-development by CBC“.
“We grew-up in the suburbs and it’s always been portrayed as very dull and boring. We wanted to show the life of the suburbs and energy. Two we wanted to show a family with the modern values of today but we’re old school in how we love each other in how they were so big and extra and energetic. We wanted to see a show about a family who take on the world together as opposed to fighting with each other.”.

SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME makes it three for three this weekend, taking #1 again at the Box Office in North America with $48 million from 4,206 theatres for Sony Pictures. In its third weekend it has grossed a total $605 million, and it is en route to cracking the Top Ten highest-grossing films in North America of all time.
Second goes to SING 2 with $19.5 million from 3,892 theatres for Universal Pictures. Over two weeks it has made a healthy $89.6 million.
AMERICAN UNDERDOG gets third spot with $4.3 million for Mongrel Media/Lionsgate Films, a total $15.2 million over two weeks.
Fourth goes to THE KING’S MAN with $3.9 million from 3,180 theatres for 20th Century Studios, a total $18.9 million in its second weekend out.
THE MATRIX RESURRECTIONS rounds-out this Top Five with $3.4 million from 3,552 theatres for Warner Bros., a total $30.5 million in two weeks of release.
Streaming now on the CTV App is Lifetime’s CANDY CANE CANDIDATE, filmed just outside Ottawa. The Holiday flick centers on Julia Chen (Jacky Lai) whom after just losing an election, returns home to North Falls where she decides to run for Mayor. Her opponent however, is former crush Parker (Jake Epstein), and after this many years apart, they realize they might be each other’s toughest opponent… and best match!
Canadian Actor/Director Pat Kiely takes the reins here in this harmless Holiday jaunt. While in ways it follows a Sweet Home Alabama-esque archetype of a successful woman who returns to her hometown to stumble upon love, the story is told even more with a feminist slant. We are asked what Julia wants and this doesn’t come right away necessarily. And while she very much is an underdog to the Town Hero in Parker, she must fight to get what she truly wants and level the playing ground with her intellect and political experience. All while being super-flirtatious with Parker. And he isn’t complaining. He’s a bit distracted by her at times to even notice!
Lai carries much of the weight of the Rom-Com on her own and is likable even if at times we feel she’s swooping-in and taking away something Parker has worked so hard for and deserves. It is not an easy task to make a character like this relatable. Epstein is agreeable and it isn’t tough to see why the Aunties of the town take so easily to him, even if he is a bit of a pushover at times. We would’ve liked to see the Script give him a little more bite. Eddie Renout gets third billing as Julia‘s mother Sylvie, bringing a calming presence to her daughter’s hectic life. She can do Jasmine Tea, Congee, Egg Nog, Bubble Tea and a killer Hot Chocolate to boot! Whomever the Food Consultant was on this project really paid attention to the details. Note: Eddie is my actual Godsister and she has NEVER been this hospitable to me in real life, so I am a little bitter and jealous! And Danny Vo makes his debut as Julia‘s nephew Noah and does it with presence.
We get exactly what CANDY CANE CANDIDATE is trying to do, exploring stories we all want to see over the Holidays, but through a more inclusive lens and we appreciate that. Clocking-in at just under an hour and thirty minutes, this is an easy watch if you’re looking for something with a bit of charm and progressiveness.
If you missed your chance to see CANDY CANE CANDIDATE on CTV Drama over the Holidays, you can stream it anytime on the CTV App! The Film is available to stream in the U.S. on Prime Video as well.
SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME spreads some cheer at the Box Office once again this weekend, taking the #1 spot over Christmas weekend with a superb $138.6 million from 4,336 theates for Sony Pictures, a two-week total of $467.3 million. On Christmas Day alone, it earned $36.1 million in North America. This places it third for all-time best Christmas Day gross of all time, behind Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens ($49.3 million) and Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker ($32.1 million).
Debuting in second is SING 2 with $23.7 million from 3,900 theatres for Universal Pictures. Its predecessor opened in 2016 with $36 million. This Sequel gets 67% on the Tomatometer.
In third is THE MATRIX RESURRECTIONS with $12 million from 3,552 theatres for Warner Bros. This fourth Film in the Series gets 66% on the Tomatometer.
THE KING’S MAN debuts in fourth with $6.4 million from 3,180 theatres for 20th Century Fox.
Rounding-out the Top Five this Christmas weekend is Football Sports Drama AMERICAN UNDERDOG with $6.2 million from 2,813 theatres for Lionsgate Films/Mongrel Media. It gets 77% on the Tomatometer.
While it felt the latter part of 2021 was rather hectic on the release side for films, it certainly was a memorable, although sometimes chaotic year in Cinema. As we saw several films which should’ve surfaced in 2020, banked for our enjoyment on the big screen this year, it makes it even more challenging to narrow down our favourites. Truly, the Films that made the cut in 2021 truly were outstanding as they had to shine amongst a quality slate of releases.
Though it seems we’re making one step forward and two steps back in making it through this Pandemic, we were so happy to have been able to be back in theatres once again and enjoy a hybrid version of the Toronto International Film Festival. For that we are grateful and we look forward to sitting in a theatre once again, full capacity with popcorn and drink in-hand, even if not yet.
Team Mr. Will break down their favourite releases of 2021 for us and as always, it is an exciting and eclectic mix. Films like CODA, ROADRUNNER, NINE DAYS, C’MON C’MON and MASS might not be on all Critics’ Top Tens, but they fared well among the Team and found a home with us. If you’re still deciding what to see or are on the fence about, let us help you out!
So grateful for this amazing family of Writers and their esteemed opinions and hard work delivering for us year-round.
I think Cinema is at its best when it entertains, increases empathy and enlighten us. The films in my Top Ten check those boxes for me. However, 2021 is filled with impactful Cinema and my list could easily be 20! Other films I love are Awards Season favourites King Richard, Belfast & Spencer. This list was made before viewing A Hero, Parallel Mothers & Cyrano.
The Worst Person in the World & Petite Maman would be below but they release in 2022. Keep an eye out for them!

In a near-tie for my favorite this year: two Documentaries attempting to process recent history. Life in a Day revisits the original 2010 experiment, sourcing thousands of hours of amateur footage from across the world shot on a single day in 2020 that might as well represent the era. Spike Lee‘s NYC Epicenters–a four part miniseries available on Crave–looks at every major New York disaster since 9/11 up to the present moment with absolutely crushing clarity. Sidenote: Netflix‘s ‘Turning Point‘ gives 9/11 some much-needed context as the inciting incident in a much broader tragedy for the people of Iraq and Afghanistan. Bo Burnham’s Inside grapples with our collective quarantine routine, and though I have misgivings about how accurate it is to Burnham‘s real experience of the pandemic–dropping it a bit further down the list–I cannot deny the singular power of his music to bring meaning to our perpetually sealed-off lives. In third–and the first narrative on the list–The Last Duel failed to connect with the Box Office but succeeded in keeping me locked at a 70° angle as I untangled the all-too-familiar cycle of assault, denial, and public scorn told from three distinct perspectives, brought together by a relentless, titular duel more explosive than anything Ridley Scott has ever yelled at a journalist. Dune could not be less connected to our present, so it was nice to become ensnared in its deadly world with the most well-integrated Visual Effects I’ve ever seen. Roadrunner and C’mon C’mon are both stories of Documentarians who live their work. For Joaquin Phoenix, it’s a spiritually healing act. For Anthony Bourdain, it’s a bit more complicated. Spencer synthesized Diana‘s tragedy into a devastating weekend of pheasant hunting, pea soup and Jazz. Sidenote: ‘Diana the Musical‘ is worth a Netflix skim for a horrific glimpse into yet another way of defining her story. The Green Knight revitalized title cards–along with reflections on destiny and death. And Annette finally put an end to our cultural obsession with selfish toxic male stars–j/k!
2021 was the year I capitulated, when it came to the Movies. I firmly believed that they HAD to be seen on a big screen to even be considered worthy candidates to make my personal āBestā list. To me, VOD always stood for movies that studios deemed unworthy of a theatrical release and streaming services were like HBO: good stuff but, like HBO movies, should not be considered Oscar-worthy. My feelings came crashing down when I saw my first movie in a darkened theatre when we were finally allowed to do so. It was the Documentary āRoadrunner: A Film About Anthony Bourdainā. It was also the 107th movie I had watched this year. The final nail in the coffin was when I was given the choice to see āThe Eyes of Tammy Fayeā in the theatre or to stream it and I chose the latter.
Whittling down the 288 titles I watched in 2021 to my Top Ten was no easy task! And apologies to the movies I havenāt seen yet (The Lost Daughter, Drive My Car, A Hero, Parallel Mothers and The Green Knight) that could have made the list and those that I could not squeeze-in (Annette, Flee, Belfast, Being the Ricardos, Donāt Look Up, In the Heights and Passing).
What a mess 2021 has been, we thought we couldnāt possibly still be in this god damn pandemic anymore but here we are. Thankfully, even through the endless, and I mean ENDLESS delays we got some content this year that was absolutely incredible. Only one movie on this Top Ten list only played the festival circuit, and I cannot stress enough that it must be viewed when it comes out. Everything on this list deserves its placing, and if you havenāt seen some of these picks, please please please go and see it to warm your Cinephile heart. I present to you my top 10 of 2021. May 2022 bring forward some other excellent Cinema!
Alone With You Green KnightNote: at the time of publication I have not seen Drive My Car, or Parallel Mothers.
Happy New Year everyone, and Bon Cinema!
Were we wrong thinking 2021 would be better than 2020? While it was not nearly as much of a dumpster fire, there is still so much wrong and so few lessons learned. I loved being able to experience movies in a theatre again, yet am depressed at how few people turned up for anything that did not involve Marvel characters (though I did enjoy some of those ones too). Fingers crossed we can lose the increasingly annoying āExclusively in Theatresā rhetoric at some point in 2022. All of that said, I was able to experience a whole world of titles at digital festivals and likely saw more movies this year alone than I have in previous years (or at least compared to all the years I have tracked on Letterboxd!). So it was not all doom and gloom.
Here is a look at my ranked Top 10 list of titles that had a profound effect on me, inspiring my creativity endlessly in a year where I felt so little, followed by alphabetical lists of 2020 films I could not see until 2021 and a few festival favourites waiting for proper release.
2020 Favourites That Were Available This Year
Minari
Quo Vadis, Aida?
Saint Maud
Unreleased Festival Favourites
Beyond the Infinite Two Minutes
Catch the Fair One
The Fallout
Petite Maman
Sundown
Three things we always look for in a great film. One, it has to take us on a real journey and there’s gotta be something at stake that’s meaningful. It doesn’t matter how big the stakes are. It is the Director and Actors’ jobs to make it feel like the journey they are going on matters. Two, we love it when an Actor transforms and we laud bravado in a performance. Three, we want to feel something when we walk away from a film. These Films meet all the criteria for me. Whether it be Kristen Stewart’s transcendent performance as Diana in Spencer which we’re still obsessed with, or what it means for a father to go for broke because he believes so much in his daughters in King Richard, or films like Zola and Red Rocket which pushed the envelope giving us a glimpse into the lives of Sex Workers, my eyes were opened and sometimes welled-up from some of the masterful work I saw in my Top Ten.
