Apple TV+ today unveiled a first-look at Toronto-filmed “Murderbot,” its highly anticipated comedic thriller series created by Academy Award-nominees Chris and Paul Weitz (“About a Boy,” “Mozart in the Jungle”) and starring Emmy Award winner Alexander Skarsgård (“Succession,” “Big Little Lies”), who also serves as executive producer. The ten-episode sci-fi series will make its global debut on Apple TV+ with the first two episodes on Friday, May 16, 2025 followed by new episodes every Friday through July 11, 2025.

Based on Martha Wells’ best-selling, Hugo and Nebula Award winning book series “The Murderbot Diaries,” “Murderbot” is a sci-fi thriller/comedy about a self-hacking security construct who is horrified by human emotion yet drawn to its vulnerable clients. Played by Skarsgård, Murderbot must hide its free will and complete a dangerous assignment when all it really wants is to be left alone to watch futuristic soap operas and figure out its place in the universe.

The ensemble cast also includes Noma Dumezweni (“Presumed Innocent”), David Dastmalchian (“Oppenheimer,”), Sabrina Wu (“Joy Ride”), Akshay Khanna (“Critical Incident”), Tattiawna Jones (“The Handmaid’s Tale”), and Tamara Podemski (“Outer Range”).

Prime Video just exclusively revealed the thrilling 11-minute opening scene for the upcoming third season of The Wheel of Time on the platform. This special sneak peek is now available at the end of the third episode of the Season Three premiere of Reacher, which also debuted today. The Wheel of Time, which will premiere globally on Prime Video on March 13, 2025, is based on Robert Jordan’s best-selling and epic fantasy book series of the same name, and is co-produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios.

The explosive 11-minute opening scene of The Wheel of Time’s new season features a dynamic magical showdown between good and evil. The Sorceresses who have secretly sworn themselves to the Dark One shockingly reveal themselves, and initiate a vicious and bloody battle that will forever change the fate of the world. The Canadian Film Centre (CFC) and CBC are pleased to announce their extended partnership for the prestigious CBC Actors Conservatory, with the national public broadcaster continuing as the Presenting Partner for two additional years. The near decade-long union first began in 2016 and this expanded collaboration reaffirms both organizations’ commitment to supporting and nurturing the next generation of Canadian talent in the film and television industry.

The CBC Actors Conservatory is a six-month immersive onscreen acting program designed to elevate actors’ works by increasing their confidence in the craft, expanding their onscreen portfolios, and building strong connections within the industry. Through tailored mentorship, workshops, and industry sessions, the program prepares talent to meet the demands of today’s competitive entertainment landscape. Disney+ recently announced that Original series “Good American Family” starring Ellen Pompeo, Mark Duplass and Imogen Reid will premiere Wednesday, March 19, 2025 exclusively on Disney+ in Canada with two episodes, followed by one episode weekly.

Told from multiple points of view, as a means to explore issues of perspective, bias, and trauma, this compelling drama is inspired by the disturbing stories surrounding a Midwestern couple who adopts a girl with a rare form of dwarfism. But as they begin to raise her alongside their three biological children, mystery emerges around her age and background, and they slowly start to suspect she may not be who she says she is. As they defend their family from the daughter they’ve grown to believe is a threat, she fights her own battle to confront her past and what her future holds, in a showdown that ultimately plays out in the tabloids and the courtroom.

The series stars Ellen Pompeo, Mark Duplass and Imogen Reid. Dulé Hill, Christina Hendricks, Sarayu Blue and Jenny O’Hara are recurring guest stars.

Katie Robbins serves as creator and executive producer and ran the show with Executive Producer Sarah Sutherland. The first two episodes of Pixar Animation Studios’ “Win or Lose” are now streaming on Disney+. Pixar’s first-ever original series features the intertwined stories of eight different characters as they each prepare for their big championship softball game—the insecure kids, their helicopter parents, even a lovesick umpire. Two new clips are now available to share, plus a featurette, “Creating the Pickles,” in which filmmakers weigh in on the series, its origins and what makes it unique.

“That’s Game” – In episode two, Frank (voice of Josh Thomson), the umpire for the local softball league, lives his life from the sidelines.
