Paramount+ today revealed first-look images for the upcoming highly-anticipated prequel series DEXTER: ORIGINAL SIN. The photos unveil the iconic Morgan family, with Golden Globe® winner Christian Slater as Harry Morgan, Patrick Gibson as Dexter Morgan and Molly Brown as Debra Morgan. Taking place 15 years before audiences first met Dexter in the Peabody Award winning SHOWTIME® series DEXTER, the new 10-episode thriller chronicles America’s favorite serial killer…in training.
Set in 1991 Miami, DEXTER: ORIGINAL SIN follows Dexter (Gibson) as he transitions from student to avenging serial killer. When his bloodthirsty urges can’t be ignored any longer, Dexter must learn to channel his inner darkness. With the guidance of his father, Harry (Slater), he adopts a Code designed to help him find and kill people who deserve to be eliminated from society without getting on law enforcements’ radar. Paramount Plus Canada have announced that Patrick Dempsey will join the cast of DEXTER®: ORIGINAL SIN as a series regular and will play Aaron Spencer, the Captain of the Miami Metro Homicide who has a decades-long relationship with Harry Morgan (Slater).

Patrick Dempsey Bio:
Dempsey is best known for his portrayal of Dr. Derek Shepherd on the hit ABC series, Grey’s Anatomy, which earned him a Screen Actors Guild Award and multiple Golden Globe nominations. He can most recently be seen in Michael Mann’s Ferrari where he portrays Piero Taruffi and is featured alongside Adam Driver. Prior to this, he starred in Eli Roth’s horror film Thanksgiving and the Disney+ film Disenchanted. His film credits include: Bridget Jones’s Baby, Transformers: Dark of The Moon, Valentine’s Day, Made of Honor, Enchanted, Freedom Writers, Sweet Home Alabama, Scream 3, With Honors, Outbreak, Hugo Pool, The Treat, The Palace Thief, Heaven Help Us, Happy Together, Some Girls, Coupe De Ville, Run, Mobsters, and In the Mood. James Martinez (Love Victor), Christina Milian (Falling Inn Love), Alex Shimizu (The Blacklist) and Reno Wilson (Mike & Molly) join the previously announced cast members Golden Globe winner Christian Slater as Harry Morgan, Patrick Gibson as Dexter Morgan and Molly Brown as Debra Morgan. Production commences today in Miami, with Emmy® nominee Clyde Phillips (DEXTER, NURSE JACKIE) returning as showrunner and executive producer.
These four actors star as members of the Miami Metro Police Department. Martinez plays Angel Batista, an up-and-coming homicide detective who leads with his heart; Milian plays Maria LaGuerta, Miami Metro’s first female homicide detective; Shimizu plays Vince Masuka, a forensic analyst who eagerly shares his expertise while relishing the chance to boss around his new intern, Dexter Morgan; and Wilson plays Bobby Watt, Harry’s longtime partner and confidant.

Shimizu is best known for his recurring role on the hit series The Blacklist and will be featured in Taika Waititi’s upcoming series Interior Chinatown. Other notable credits include The Terror, S.W.A.T. and The Outcasts.
Wilson made his television debut on The Cosby Show and has since starred in a slew of television series, past credits include Good Girls, Mike & Molly, Heist, Blind Justice, The Hoop Life, Fatal Attraction and Bel-Air.

Slater received Golden Globe and Critics Choice Awards along with multiple nominations for his role in Mr. Robot. His other credits include Dr. Death, for which he received a Critics Choice nomination, Dirty John and Nymphomaniac along with cult classics True Romance and Heathers. Slater is currently starring in Jerry Seinfeld’s directorial debut, Unfrosted, and The Spiderwick Chronicles. He will next star in Zoe Kravitz’s directorial debut, Blink Twice.
Gibson can most recently be seen in the television series Shadow and Bone. Additional past credits include in The OA, Good Girl Jane, and Property of the State, the latter of which earned him the Irish Film and Television Award ® for Rising Star in 2017.
Brown’s past credits include roles in EVIL, BILLIONS, and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, as well as films including Senior Year and The Good House. She’s set to appear in the upcoming independent film Mooch.
The eight-season run of the original DEXTER series premiered in the fall of 2006 and starred Golden Globe winner Michael C. Hall as Dexter Morgan, a complicated and conflicted blood-spatter expert with the Miami Metro Police Department who moonlights as a serial killer.
