Paramount+ today debuted a teaser trailer for its original movie STAR TREK: SECTION 31 during the STAR TREK universe panel at San Diego Comic-Con. The movie made its Hall H debut with cast members Omari Hardwick, Sam Richardson and Canadian Kacey Rohl, along with executive producer Alex Kurtzman and director Olatunde Osunsanmi. The panel featured a surprise video âinterruptionâ from the filmâs star, OscarÂŽ winner Michelle Yeoh, who introduced the teaser.
The new teaser also revealed a first look at a young Philippa Georgiou, played by Toronto-born Miku Martineau (Kate).
In the movie, slated to premiere in early 2025, Yeoh reprises her fan-favorite role as Emperor Philippa Georgiou â a character she played in STAR TREK: DISCOVERYâs first season â who joins a secret division of Starfleet. Tasked with protecting the United Federation of Planets, she also must face the sins of her past.

Hall H was buzzing this evening for Marvel Studiosâ Hall H showcase, bringing excited fans at San Diego Comic-Con a first look at whatâs next for the Marvel Cinematic Universeâincluding huge news about Marvel Studiosâ next two Avengers films.
âDeadpool & Wolverineâ
The Hall H showcase kicked off with a celebration of âDeadpool & Wolverine,â in theatres now. A full choral performance of âLike a Prayerâ welcomed the excited crowd with dancing Deadpool variants, which ended when Marvel Studios producer and president Kevin Feige looked for Peterpool amongst the variants, calling Rob Delaney, who stars in the film as Peter, to the stage. Delaney joined Feige as the showcaseâs MC, mentioning the surprise âDeadpool & Wolverineâ screening for con-goers Thursday, and the massive drone and fireworks show over San Diegoâs Petco Park that followed. âDeadpool & Wolverineâ has already broken box office records for an R-rated theatrical release, and the filmâs opening officially pushed the MCU over the $30 billion box-office mark with 34 movies. Starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, and directed by Shawn Levy, âDeadpool & Wolverineâ is now playing in theatres.
âCaptain America: Brave New Worldâ
With Sam Wilson about to make his big screen debut as Captain America in âCaptain America: Brave New World,â Delaney welcomed to the stage Cap himself, Anthony Mackie. Joining them were Tim Blake Nelson, Danny Ramirez and Giancarlo Esposito, who confirmed he is playing Sidewinder. Together, they revealed exclusive footage, and much to the crowdâs excitement, invited Harrison Ford to take the stage. Ford makes his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut as President Thaddeus Ross. The story follows Sam Wilson, who after meeting with newly elected U.S. President Thaddeus Ross, finds himself in the middle of an international incident. Sam must discover the reason behind a nefarious global plot before the true mastermind has the entire world seeing red. Marvel Studiosâ âCaptain America: Brave New Worldâ opens in theatres February 14, 2025.
âThunderbolts*â
Highlighting Marvel Studiosâ âThunderbolts,â Delaney welcomed director Jake Schreier to the stage alongside stars Geraldine Viswanathan, Lewis Pullman, Hannah John-Kamen, Wyatt Russell, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan and David Harbour. The latter showed up in full Red Guardian garb, earning laughs and applause from the crowd, which was treated to a scene from the movie. Marvel Studios, and a crew of indie veterans, who definitely sold out, present âThunderbolts,â an irreverent team-up featuring depressed assassin Yelena Belova alongside the MCUâs least anticipated band of misfits. Marvel Studiosâ âThunderbolts*â also stars Olga Kurylenko and opens in theatres on May 2, 2025.
âThe Fantastic Four: First Stepsâ
Feige returned to the stage to share details of the upcoming âThe Fantastic Four,â which kicks off production Tuesday. Joining Feige on stage was director Matt Shakman and Marvelâs first family together on stage for the first time, Pedro Pascal (Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby (Sue Storm/The Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn (Johnny Storm/The Human Torch) and Ebon Moss-Bachrach (Ben Grimm/Thing). They all shared some cosmic details about the upcoming feature film that sees Galactus and Silver Surfer target Earth for destructionâand revealed the movieâs full title: âThe Fantastic Four: First Steps.â But then Hall H was overtaken by none other than the Fantasticar soaring over the crowd, drawing massive cheers as the screens were taken over by a retro-futurist vision of New York City. Featuring music by OscarÂŽ-winning composer Michael Giacchino, Marvel Studiosâ âFantastic Four: First Stepsâ hits theatres on July 25, 2025.
âAvengersâ
Just when the audience thought the show was over, Feige told them he had an Avengers update to share: Anthony and Joe Russo, renowned directors of four of the most successful Marvel movies and the studioâs highest-grossing directors with over $6 billion in global earnings, are set to return to Marvel Studios to helm âAvengers: Secret Warsâ in May 2027 and âAvengers: Doomsdayâ in May 2026.
The reveal of âAvengers: Doomsdayâ left one major question: who would play Doctor Doom?
The directors pointed out that Doctor Doom is one of the most complex characters in the Marvel Universe, and needed a truly great actor to bring him to life. As Feige and the Russos prepared to close out the presentation, robed figures dressed in Doctor Doom masks took the stage and then parted to reveal Robert Downey Jr. who is set to return to the MCU. Hall H erupted, chanting âRDJ!â
The Russoâs company AGBO is set to produce both films alongside Marvel Studios. Stephen McFeely, known for his work on the “Captain America” trilogy and “Avengers: Endgame,” will handle the script.

Marvel Studios’ DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE debuts in a lively manner with a record-setting $205 million from 4,210 theatres for Marvel/Disney. It gets a great 80% on the Tomatometer from Critics, and easily becomes the highest opening ever for the Deadpool franchise, besting 2016’s first film in the series which took off with $132 million. Wolverine’s highest franchise opening was 2009’s X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE with $85 million.
In second is TWISTERS with a $36 million second weekend for Universal Pictures, a total run domestically, of $155 million.
DESCPICABLE ME 4 is in third with $14.5 million for Universal Pictures, taking it to $291 million.
INSIDE OUT 2 takes $15 million for fourth spot, bringing its run to $613.7 million for Disney.
Fifth is LONGLEGS with $6.9 million for NEON/Elevation Pictures, a three week total of $58 million. This now has become American distributor NEON‘s highest grossing film ever, surpassing Best Picture winner PARASITE‘s $53 million.
Director/writer Fede Alvarez and cast members from the upcoming sci-hi/horror-thriller âAlien: Romulus,â including Cailee Spaeny, David Jonsson, Archie Renaux, Isabela Merced, and Spike Fearn took to the stage of Hall H at the San Diego Convention Center earlier today for a special Comic-Con panel in partnership with IMAXÂŽ. During the panel, which featured exclusive footage from the film as well as special taped content from Ridley Scott, Guillermo del Toro, and Dan Trachtenberg, a swarm of facehuggers flooded the room, overtaking the stage and facehugging a few attendees in the process. The culmination of the stunt was the iconic chestburster moment on the floor of Hall H, which surprised and terrified Comic-Con attendees. At the conclusion of the panel, the 6,000+ guests were gifted their own facehugger mask, which they wore for a group photo with Alvarez and the cast.
âAlien: Romulusâ takes the phenomenally successful âAlienâ franchise back to its roots: While scavenging the deep ends of a derelict space station, a group of young space colonizers come face to face with the most terrifying life form in the universe.

Disney Branded Television and BBC jointly announced âThe War Between The Land And The Sea,â an all-new âDoctor Whoâ spinoff, today at San Diego Comic-Con. Leading the five-part series is Russell Tovey (âFeud,â âAmerican Horror Story: NYCâ) and Gugu Mbatha-Raw (âSurface,â âLokiâ), alongside returning âDoctor Whoâ cast members Jemma Redgrave (as Kate Lethbridge-Stewart) and Alexander Devrient (as Colonel Ibrahim).

San Diego was transformed into Middle-earth on Friday, as Prime Video showcased the highly anticipated second season of the epic series, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. Showrunners J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay were joined on the iconic Hall H stage by over a dozen cast members for a lively and insightful conversation moderated by Emmy-nominated actress and renowned genre fan Yvette Nicole Brown (Avengers: Endgame, Community).
The ensemble cast thrilled the 6,500 fans who packed the massive convention center hall by unveiling a brand-new exclusive trailer for the upcoming season. The action-packed trailer focuses on the long-feared reemergence of the legendary villain Sauron, heralding the return of darkness and evil to Middle-earth after many years of hard-fought peace among all of its realms. The trailer also highlighted the creation of more of the titular Rings of Power, forged with the aid of Sauronâs powers of deception and manipulation.
Fans were also excited to see a glimpse of many of the fantastical, and sometimes frightening, creatures that will appear this season, including a young Shelob, an army of Barrow-wights, Hill-troll Damrod, a Sea Worm, and even Ents! Hiltonâs last album, 2006âs Paris Hilton, landed in the Top 10 on the Billboard 200 and featured the RIAA Gold-certified hit single, âStars Are Blind.â Since then, Hilton has collaborated with the likes of Lil Wayne, Birdman, and Steve Aoki, among others. Paramount+ in Canada today announced that the Australian comedy crime thriller POPULATION 11, will make its Canadian debut exclusively on the platform. All episodes of the 12-part series starring and executive produced by EmmyÂŽ nominee Ben Feldman (Superstore, Mad Men , Silicon Valley) will premiere on August 1, 2024.
Inspired by true events,POPULATION 11 is about a man who goes missing from a tiny outback town of only 12 residents, and his estranged son, who journeys from the U.S. to find him.
When Andy Pruden (Ben Feldman), a suburban bank teller from the U.S. state pulls into the tiny outback town to visit his long-lost father, heâs alarmed to discover that Hugo has vanished. In his quest to find him, another outsider Cassie (Perry Mooney) comes to Andyâs aid and they find themselves in increasing danger as they delve into the secrets of this tiny outback town, where everyone is a suspect.
The impressive ensemble cast includes Perry Mooney (Gold Diggers) as outsider Cassie Crick, Katrina Milosevic (Wentworth) as Sgt. Geraldine Walters, and Darren Gilshenan (No Activity, Nautilus, The Moodys) as Prudenâs missing father Hugo Drivas.
