Director/Writer Ron Dias‘ latest Feature, MORNINGSIDE is a love letter to Scarborough and got a big welcome last night at Scarborough Town Centre with the community showing up. The Drama sees various stories intersecting, and at the heart of the story is a theme of community set against a backdrop of change and gun violence. Starring are Joanne Jansen (who co-wrote the Script), Kiana Madeira, Lovell Adams-Gray, Fefe Dobson, Alex Mallari Jr, Olunike Adeyili and more.

Prior to the Film’s Premiere at Cineplex Scarborough Town Centre, a Q&A was held where Dias and the Cast appeared on-stage, drawing a large crowd of spectators and support. Also available was a one-day pop-up by Scarborough Spots featuring merchandise from the Film.

Today, Disney+ announced that the Original drama series “Paradise,” which hails from 20th Television, has been renewed for a second season. The political thriller is from creator Dan Fogelman (“Only Murders in the Building,” “This Is Us”), and stars Sterling K. Brown (“This is Us,” “American Fiction”) as Agent Xavier Collins.

“Paradise” is set in a serene community inhabited by some of the world’s most prominent individuals. But this tranquility explodes when a shocking murder occurs, and a high-stakes investigation unfolds.

The first season stars Sterling K. Brown, James Marsden, Julianne Nicholson, Sarah Shahi, Nicole Brydon Bloom, Aliyah Mastin and Percy Daggs IV, and is executive produced by Dan Fogelman, Sterling K. Brown, John Requa, Glenn Ficarra, John Hoberg, Jess Rosenthal, and Steve Beers.

Today, Prime Video released first-look images from the highly anticipated new series from Blumhouse Television starring Kevin Bacon, The Bondsman. All eight episodes will be available on April 3, 2025, exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.

Kevin Bacon stars as Hub Halloran, a murdered bounty hunter who’s back from the dead after being resurrected by the Devil to trap and send back demons that have escaped from the prison of Hell. By chasing down those demons with the help and hindrance of his estranged family, Hub learns how his own sins got his soul condemned — which pushes him to seek a second chance at life, love, and country music.

Apple TV+ today unveiled a first-look at Toronto-filmed “Murderbot,” its highly anticipated comedic thriller series created by Academy Award-nominees Chris and Paul Weitz (“About a Boy,” “Mozart in the Jungle”) and starring Emmy Award winner Alexander Skarsgård (“Succession,” “Big Little Lies”), who also serves as executive producer. The ten-episode sci-fi series will make its global debut on Apple TV+ with the first two episodes on Friday, May 16, 2025 followed by new episodes every Friday through July 11, 2025.

Based on Martha Wells’ best-selling, Hugo and Nebula Award winning book series “The Murderbot Diaries,” “Murderbot” is a sci-fi thriller/comedy about a self-hacking security construct who is horrified by human emotion yet drawn to its vulnerable clients. Played by Skarsgård, Murderbot must hide its free will and complete a dangerous assignment when all it really wants is to be left alone to watch futuristic soap operas and figure out its place in the universe.

Prime Video just exclusively revealed the thrilling 11-minute opening scene for the upcoming third season of The Wheel of Time on the platform. The Canadian Film Centre (CFC) and CBC are pleased to announce their extended partnership for the prestigious CBC Actors Conservatory, with the national public broadcaster continuing as the Presenting Partner for two additional years. The near decade-long union first began in 2016 and this expanded collaboration reaffirms both organizations’ commitment to supporting and nurturing the next generation of Canadian talent in the film and television industry.

The CBC Actors Conservatory is a six-month immersive onscreen acting program designed to elevate actors’ works by increasing their confidence in the craft, expanding their onscreen portfolios, and building strong connections within the industry.
