Some mixed reactions to Jennifer Lawrence‘s first time hosting Saturday Night Live last night. The twice Oscar-nominated Actress started off strong with a hilarious opening Monologue poking-fun at the upcoming Oscars Race, going through each and every one of her fellow Nominees. “Ladies I love you all, but you’re about to get served”, warns Lawrence before throwing wooly-mitten punches at each of the nominated Actresses. “Jessica Chas-ain’t-not-winning-no-Oscar-on-my-Watch“, she says about Jessica Chastain. On Naomi Watts, she says, “You were in The impossible… you know what else is impossible? You beating me on Oscar night.”. Neither the old nor the young got a break as she also went-on to ask record youngest-ever Nominee 9-year-old Quvenzhané Wallis, “What ‘chu talking ’bout Wallis?”. On Amour Star Emannuelle Riva, she doesn’t hold back one bit stating, “An 85-year-old French Lady? Umm… yah I think I can take you. You know what you can say to your Oscar chances? Emmanuelle Arrivaderci!”. LOL Of course all in good humour.
Performing alongside Musical Guests The Lumineers, Lawrence had a few bright moments such as the super-cute Top Dog Chef Sketch which had her dressed as a Yorkie and preparing a culinary creation for a panel of Judges. One Sketch had her parodying The Hunger Games with herself as Katniss, before a panel of Reporters at a Press Conference asking burning questions which poked fun at some of the rules of the Games and also Lawrence and Co-Star Josh Hutcherson‘s height differences. Bobby Moynihan took hunger to a new level making all his questions about food because apparently he’s starving out there in District 12. Truly versatile in reaching young to old(er), Lawrence held her own in some of the more sex-oriented Sketches like Danielle, a deliciously trashy Parody of late-night French Soaps with horrible dubbing. Also, a Lincoln-inspired Sketch had her writing her Boyfriend-at-War (Newcomer Tim Robinson) Love Letters, but it seemed all he wanted were Tit Pics.

Montreal-filmed Warm Bodies is a Title I’ve been plenty enthused about for quite some time now and its two Stars officially have arrived in the City. The quirky Romantic Comedy-Zombie Flick is based upon the Novel of the same name by Isaac Marion, starring Teresa Palmer and Nicholas Hoult – the latter already having been a critical Darling for some time now with About a Boy and A Single Man on his Resume.
On the agenda for the recently single (respectively) Duo are a Stop-off at a Private Screening in the busier part of the City and an appearance on MuchMusic‘s New.Music.Live during the 6:00 PM slot, sharing the spotlight with Josh Duhamel and Julianne Hough who both are here for Romantic-Thriller Safe Haven.
Fans and Autograph Collectors knew they were in the presence of greatness, giving the Actors a warm, albeit rowdy welcome upon arrival. Amidst all the pushing and pulling, I managed to get one semi-decent Snap after two undecipherably-blurry Photos with Hoult. “I think we’ve done plenty of Photos already, Mate”, he tells me, perhaps not understanding the difficulty of photographing a moving subject. Finally he was kind enough to stop for one quick second amidst his Autograph signing, thanks to our Friend Michelle.
Fortunately, Palmer escaped the fanfare unscathed, giggling with her Handlers from her SUV at the commotion.

Don’t laugh. Okay, fine laugh.
eOne Films releases what sure is to be a massive Hit, Warm Bodies, on February 1 , 2013.

He’s honestly amazing. This is the second time I’ve crossed paths with Bollywood Legend Anil Kapoor and he’s always kind and gracious. The Actor known best in these parts for his work in Academy Award-winning Best Picture, Slumdog Millionaire, and also Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol.
The Actor is now in Toronto for a special appearance Monday night at the TIFF Bell Lightbox as part of their In Conversation With… Series. Some lucky Fans who spotted him, were extremely lucky to get the Actor in casual mode, as he obliged and snapped Photos together with them.
It’s still not too late to get your Tickets and you can do so clicking here.
Read about the time I met Kapoor right around this time of the year, two years ago, right here.

Too exciting! Those of you who follow my Horse Racing Blog Posts will remember how passionate I was about pretty much the greatest Filly who ever existed, Zenyatta. The Superhorse retired with a phenomenal 20 Race Record of 19-1-0, and believe me her final Race in the $5-million 2010 Breeders’ Cup Classic was such a close one, giving it all her might against the Boys only to lose by a slight nose. While we’re waiting for her Babies to make it to the Track, we have her Sister to keep us plenty interested!
If History/Genetics should repeat itself, we have every reason to be super-excited for Zenyatta‘s Half-Sister Eblouissante (her name in French means “dazzling”), who just turned four-years-old recently, running brilliantly today at Santa Anita Park in California. The beautiful Filly originally was to run her second race last month but unfortunately had bumped her hip the day of that Race, resulting in the decision to give her a bit more time off.
She proved she was well worth the wait today, winning with a little bit of effort as the Heavy Favourite, silencing her v. few Disbelievers. Laying low at the back of the pack for much of the Race, she rallied late showing them who’s Boss to win by 1 1/4 lengths almost a full second quicker than in her Debut at Betfair Hollywood Park. By comparison though, Big Sister Zenyatta‘s first try at the popular distance of 1 1/16 miles, was a four full seconds quicker back in 2007.
Trainer John Shirreffs, who also handled Zenyatta, is hinting a step-up in class next time out in a Stakes Race, her first real test of ability. We soon will know just how great she truly is either mid-February or mid-March.
Watch the Race below (she’s #5):
I had the pleasure of meeting Corey Nakatani, Jockey of Eblouissante – or just Ebby as her Fans call her – back in 2011, as he treks out to Toronto’s Woodbine Racetrack a couple times a year for some of our bigger Races. Can’t wait to see him up north again this Season!

Some of you might recognize him by face, some of you might recognize him by voice. TONY Award-winning Actor Dan Fogler was spotted heading to the Convenience Store after a long day on the set of NBC‘s upcoming Series Hannibal tonight.
Fogler has starred in popular Films like Good Luck Chuck, Balls of Fury and Fanboys, while he has provided Voice Work on smashes like Horton Hears a Who, Kung Fu Panda and also upcoming Thanksgiving-themed Animated Feature Turkeys, alongside Owen Wilson and Woody Harrelson.
The Funnyman was nice enough to stop for a Snap despite the freezing cold, humbly introducing himself just as “Dan“, with a handshake. Hannibal also stars Mads Mikkelsen, Hugh Dancy, Gilliand Anderson, Laurence Fishburne and Gina Torres (the latter two Husband and Wife), wrapping in about a month’s time. Its Premiere Date still has yet to be confirmed. Anxiously awaiting…

The Film from David Ayer – Writer of Training Day – stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Peña as young Los Angeles Police Officers who discover a secret that makes them the target of the Country’s most dangerous Drug Cartel. The riveting Action-Thriller also stars Anna Kendrick, Cody Horn and America Ferrera.

Alright Hunger Games, let’s see what you’ve got! In the event you haven’t paid your Cable bill these past couple months, you otherwise are well aware probably that Jennifer Lawrence is hosting Saturday Night Live this weekend. The stunning Golden Globe Award Winner brings out the laughs here along with Funnyman Jason Sudeikis, in this just-release Promo for the eagerly-awaited Episode. Watch her pull a Katniss on poor Bobby Moynihan.
In addition to her Awards Blitz which includes an appearance at next month’s Oscars, for which she’s nominated with Silver Linings Playbook, Lawrence also covers the February 2013 Issue of Vanity Fair. Read the fascinating Piece here by as she chats with Jim Windolf about her rise to success over Beer and a Beef Burrito.
One interesting quote from Lawrence about her modest Start: “I was 14. And my brothers were star athletes. And one of them was a straight-A student. I always felt like I sucked at everything, that I could never find the thing that I liked. I auditioned and I probably sucked, but I had decided 100 percent that this is what I wanted to do. And, fortunately, my mother and I had fallen in love with New York, so the idea of living there for the summer wasn’t as scary.”.

With less than a month to go till Chinese New Year, I am keeping-up with my annual tradition of posting my favourite annual Chinese Horoscope Forecast. Geomancy Hut, which is based out of Singapore, as in previous years has been dead-on in predicting general trends and patterns and I wanted to give you the joys of direction and self-indulgence by sharing this.
This coming year is the Year of the Snake and that means this is the year your Family will not starve. The Snake is a symbol of mediation and self-sacrifice also, seen often as a good Omen. Chinese New Year falls on Sunday, February 10, 2013, so mark your Calendars! If you’re married, pass some of that good fortune over to your single Friends like me with some Lucky Money in a Red Envelope (above). I swear, I have no ulterior motives there! LOL
I myself am a Dragon and often that bodes well since the Dragon and Snake are compatible. Looking forward to a prosperous year ahead to make-up for some personal setbacks I had last year.
Click here to download your 2013 Year of the Snake Forecast from Geomancy Hut in .pdf format. Keep a tab, review next year and tell me it wasn’t accurate!
