One of my favourite Films at TIFF ’13 undoubtedly was John Curran‘s Tracks. The scenic Drama based on the true experiences of Robyn Davidson. My Review here.
Official Synopsis:
Mia Wasikowska (Alice in Wonderland, The Kids Are All Right) stars in the astonishing True Story of Robyn Davidson, who set out on a solo 2,700-kilometre journey by foot across the Australian Outback in 1977. She ultimately wrote about her desert adventure in 1980 in the travelogue Tracks, which has now been beautifully adapted by Director John Curran (The Painted Veil). GIRLS’ Adam Driver also stars.
NOW Magazine and Mongrel Media are hosting a Free Screening tomorrow night in celebration of the Publication’s THINK FREE Issue! Details here.
Tickets will be available at the BLOOR CINEMA in Toronto after 8:45 PM tomorrow night, Tuesday, February 4, 2014.

DreamWorks Pictures and Mr. Will Wong want to take Toronto Readers to a super-exciting Thrill Ride to an Advance Screening of NEED FOR SPEED, the latest from Director Scott Waugh, starring red-hot Aaron Paul. Although there are no guarantees, there is the possibility Talent may be in attendance. Maybe!
This ultra-special Screening is set to take place tomorrow night, Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at Scotiabank Theatre, 7:00 PM.
Official Synopsis:
NEED FOR SPEED centers around Tobey Marshall (Aaron Paul), a blue-collar Mechanic who races Muscle Cars on the side in an unsanctioned Street-Racing Circuit. Struggling to keep his Family-owned Garage afloat, he reluctantly partners with the wealthy and arrogant ex-NASCAR Driver Dino Brewster (Dominic Cooper). But just as a major sale to Car Broker Julia Bonet (Imogen Poots) looks like it will save Tobey‘s Shop, a disastrous race allows Dino to frame Tobey for a crime he didn’t commit, and sending Tobey to prison while Dino expands his Business out west.
Two years later, Tobey is released and set on revenge — but he knows his only chance to take down his rival Dino is to defeat him in the high-stakes race known as De Leon — the Super Bowl of Underground Racing. However to get there in time, Tobey will have to run a high-octane, action-packed Gauntlet that includes dodging pursuing Cops coast-to-coast as well as contending with a dangerous bounty Dino has put out on his Car. With the help of his loyal Crew and the surprisingly resourceful Julia, Tobey defies odds at every turn and proves that even in the flashy world of exotic Supercars, the Underdog can still finish first.

Although there certainly wasn’t much of a Match at tonight’s NFL Super Bowl XLVIII with the Underdog Seattle Seahawks demolishing the Denver Broncos, the Halftime Show and Commercials certainly is where the Spectacle was at. There were fireworks, horns, dancing, flames, The Red Hot Chili Peppers and lots of screaming! Bruno Mars sure knows how to deliver a bang-on Show and those of you who’ve never been to one of his Live Shows, don’t know what you’re missing. He sounds just as great on record as he does in-person and possesses an electric energy about him.
100 million+ tuned-in tonight to see the Hawaii-born Singer/Songwriter, who appeared on-stage aggressively banging on a Drum Kit, as he and his Band zipped through an array of Hits including: Grenade, Locked Out of Heaven, Treasure, Just the Way You Are. Mid-way, they were joined by The Red Hot Chili Peppers and Frontman Anthony Kiedis, performing their Smash, Give it Away Now.

Only one day after Jake Gyllenhaal and Amy Adams were confirmed to star in his next Film, Ezekiel, Academy Award-winning Actor/Director Philip Seymour Hofman is reported dead.
The 46-year-old Actor who resided in New York was found by a Law Enforcement Official earlier today in his Manhattan Apartment. Hoffman‘s lofty list of cinematic accomplishments include acclaimed Films like Charlie Wilson’s War, The Master, Doubt, Cold Mountain, 25th Hour, Magnolia, Boogie Nights, The Talented Mr. Ripley, Scent of a Woman and more recently he was seen in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire in which he starred as Plutarch Heavensbee. He moved many with his portrayal of Truman Captoe in 2005, earning him his first Oscar.
Although I’ve long been a Fan of Hoffman‘s, I only managed to see him from afar, snapping the above Photo of him promoting his Film Jack Goes Boating at TIFF ’10. This certainly is a tragedy, although his Legacy certainly will be remembered forever by Cinema Lovers.
Hoffman‘s Cause of Death has yet to be determined.

For the third week in-a-row, Universal Pictures reigns supreme with Ride Along, dominating a tepid weekend at the Box Office with $12.3 million in this its third week of release from 2,867 theatres, as it closes-in on the $100-mark in North America.
Frozen continues to be a model of resilience, in second spot this weekend in this its $9.3 million for Disney. The Animated Feature is now in its eleventh week of release and got a boost from the release of its Singalong version which allows Fans to sing to the Music of the Film with the guidance of a magical snowflake on-screen.
Debuting in third spot is Rom-Com, That Awkward Moment starring Zac Efron, with $9 million from 2,809 theatres for Focus Features/VVS Films. Made for only $8 million, the Film already has recouped its production costs and should be a presence into Valentine’s Day; Efron also produced the Project. Critics gave it only 23% on the Tomatometer, but Audiences gave it a B CinemaScore.
Frozen continues to be a model of resilience, in second spot this weekend in this its $9.5 million for Disney. The Animated Feature is now in its eleventh week of release and got a boost from the release of its Singalong version which allows Fans to sing to the Music of the Film with the guidance of a magical snowflake on-screen.

So will it be #COVERED or #UNCOVERED? Our Friends at H&M had a bit of fun building some hype around the new Spring Collection for David Beckham Bodywear at H&M giving Fans a chance to vote which of two TV Spots, directed by Drive Helmer Nicolas Winding Refn, will premiere during NFL Super BOWL XLVIII tonight. The Collection hit stores late last week.
Although we’re just a few hours away from knowing, let’s enjoy the Teaser:
But the question we really want to know is who the Fashion and British Football Icon is rooting for in the Super Bowl! “I’m on the fence”, Beckham revealed at a Press Junket in support of the Collection at H&M Times Square in New York City.

This certainly ain’t ESPN! In keeping in line with my annual Tradition of picking Super Bowl Winners (because I’m such an Expert on the Sport), I’ve decided to put my Football Expertise to good use again this year.
In past years, my eye for picking Winners has led me accurately to choose the New Orleans Saints (2010), Green Bay Packers (2011), New York Giants (2012) and Baltimore Ravens (2013)! Essentially, I pick Winners based on the Team with the best Outfits … I mean Uniforms!
Hence, upon a quick glance, I would say that the Winner of NFL Super Bowl XLVIII this year will be…
THE SEATTLE SEAHAWKS!!!!
Although I reckon that Oddsmakers have pegged the Denver Broncos as the Favourite to win it all this year, I must say that the navy blue and lime green combination absolutely pop on the green grass. First and foremost, I love the fitting on the sleeves which accentuates the Biceps. Secondly, the off-center branding of the word SEAHAWKS on the Jersey itself is rather tasteful, wouldn’t you agree?
Not to take anything away from the Denver Broncos‘ accomplishments because I love Peyton Manning and the Mountains, but Seattle also has brought us some awesome things too like Macklemore and…. Starbucks, making Seattle Seahawks for me, the clear Winner on the Green Carpet tonight at Met Life Stadium!
