Mongrel Media and Mr. Will want to give Readers a chance to win on Blu-Ray, official TIFF ’13 Selection, FADING GIGOLO directed by and starring John Turturro!
Official Synopsis:
Pragmatic Murray (Woody Allen), during a casual conversation with his friend Fioravante (John Turturro), mentions a visit to his dermatologist Dr. Parker (Sharon Stone), who confided her fantasy of having ménage-a-trois with a close female friend (Sofia Vergara) and a man who wasn’t her husband.
Murray volunteered Fioravante for the job. He meets Dr. Parker alone first, attending to her in a way that has less to do with sex than simply paying attention to her.
Just as Fioravante gets comfortable with this new sideline, Murray finds him another client, Avigal (Vanessa Paradis), the widow of a recently deceased Hassidic rabbi and probably the most uptight and suppressed woman in Brooklyn.

In support of upcoming Young Adult Novel Adaptation If I Stay, the Film’s Male Lead Jamie Blackley and Author Gayle Forman have made their way to Toronto as part of a whirlwind Press Tour which have seen them and Star Chloë Moretz make numerous promotional stops across North America everywhere from Shopping Malls to Cupcake Shops.
The touching Vancouver-filmed Drama centers on a young girl named Mia (Moretz) whose world crumbles one day after tragedy strikes. She is an aspiring Cellist on the verge of admission to prestigious Juilliard and her beloved Soulmate Adam (Blackley) also is the Frontman in an up-and-coming Rock Band. Stuck between life and death, ultimately she must make the most difficult decision of choosing her own destiny.
Blackley and Forman surprised Fans at a special Promo Screening of If I Stay last night. Although tearful, Fan reactions still were joyous that the Adaptation is just as resonant emotionally as the Bestseller it is based upon.
Then Duo are slated for multiple interviewstoday and one of their scheduled Stopoffs was at Global Television‘s The Morning Show (National Edition) where they were greeted outside the Studio by Fans. Although rushed, the British Star still made time for everybody, signing Autographs generously and snapping Selfies. Multi-talented (he has quite the musical ability) Blackley’s star certainly is on the rise appearing more recently in Box Office Smash Snow White and The Huntsman and he has caught the meticulous eye of Woody Allen, starring in the Visionary’s next as-yet-untitled release.
In cased you missed them, Forman and Blackley both appear tonight at Indigo Yonge & Eglinton, 7 PM.

British Teen Pop Sensations, The Vamps, rolled into Toronto last minute yesterday for their TD Echo Beach Show in support of wildly-popular Austin Mahone, but they certainly are making the most of their time in Toronto today.
The Quartet already have built a huge following in the UK having been active for two years. Consisting of members Connor Ball, Tristan Evans, Brad Simpson and James McVey, the Band already have spawned hits like Can We Dance and Somebody to You (ft. Demi Lovato).
The Vamps visited CP24 Breakfast and Global Television‘s The Morning Show (National Edition) to talk about their rise in popularity. They did their Interview for the latter live outside the Bloor Street Studio where support was ardent for the British imports. Despite warmly inviting Fans over Twitter at their Show to come meet them outside the Studio, they were rushed in quickly and stopped for a quick minute post-interviews for a limited number Photos and Autographs before rushing out via a hidden exit. Fans earlier at CP24 Breakfast were invited into the Parking Lot by Security to take Photos with their Idols. They are scheduled for appearances also on YTV and some time with popular online publication Andpop.
We had the pleasure of getting an awesome Snap with Ball, who plays Bass and Vocals.

In what seems like an overnight success, 16-year-old Pop Sensation Shawn Mendes of Pickering, has taken the World by storm. After first surfacing on the Application Vine where he uploaded cover versions of others’ Hits, Fans around the World began taking notice quickly. His Single Life of the Party made him the first Artist ever under the age 25 to debut in the Top 25 of the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 Chart.
Currently on-tour with Teen Pop Sensation Austin Mahone, the two along with Supporting Acts like The Vamps, perform tonight at TD Echo Beach. He also will be meeting Fans at an HMV location downtown for those lucky enough to nab themselves a Wristband.
Hosted by MuchMusic‘s Liz Trinnear, we got to witness Mendes up-close as her performed his two Singles Life of the Party and Show You as his hoards of young female Fans shouted his name amidst a sea of “I Love You”. The self-professed Tim Hortons Fan admits that the Fast Food/Coffee Chain is what he misses most about Canada, now that he is signed to Universal Music/Island Records and based in the U.S. He says also that he wouldn’t mind dating a Fan which drove his Fans crazy. One Admirer perhaps took that a bit too literally, jumping on-stage and hugging him. Although a little started, Security had things in order rather quickly! Hope it was worth it. YOLO!

I’ll never forget that cold night in November 2012. I happened to have a day off and remember stressing the month prior whether or not I’d miss my chance to see Robin Williams live. The stars aligned fortunately and I would do everything in my power to make this meeting happen. I knew I couldn’t afford tickets to his Sony Centre for the Performing Arts Show, so my only shot was getting a glimpse of him arriving. And what a wait that was, as I arrived midday at the venue – early, yes, but necessary.
As time passed and it got closer to Showtime, the crowd outside the Stage Door grew and all of us – including some Fans who drove from the U.S. to see him – I became less and less hopeful I’d get my Robin Williams Moment. I mean, adored the Man. Mrs. Doubtfire, Mork & Mindy, Good Morning Vietnam, Dead Poets Society, Good Will Hunting, Aladdin. These are only a handful of the Movies and Television Shows which would forever leave an imprint on a Generation – my Generation – thanks to Williams.
Finally with only a little bit of time till the Show started, Williams arrived and let me tell you, he did not disappoint. In what had to be a crowd of 100+ Fans, he stopped and posed for Photos with practically everyone and he was a Champ about it. You can see his cheeks turn rosey and his eyes watery from the cold in our Photo below:
See a Video I took of Williams in the moment:
I won’t forget Williams‘ great generosity that night. Although the moment was brief, it left me with a great sense of happiness and happiness is what he brought to the World with his wit, energy, charm and smile. We’ll never fully understand what he was going through leading to his passing (more here), but let it be known he too never will fully understand the difference he made in our lives and how much love and adoration he has from his Fans.

Invictus, Shanghai Noon, Skyfall, Footloose, The Tourist, Bruce Almighty, Evan Almighty, RoboCop, 21 Jump Street, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. If you’ve seen any of these Films, chances are, you know the work of Gary Barber. The American Film Producer and CEO/Chairman of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer of South African origins, certainly is a respected entity also in the World of Horse Racing too with a number of top-tier Competitors in his Stable under the care of Trainer Mark Casse at Woodbine Racetack in Toronto.
Just last month, he won the most important race in the Country with his star filly, Lexie Lou whom he purchased only earlier this year for what seems like a bargain price of $400k. Although Barber was unable to attend that Race – the Queen’s Plate – he certainly made up for it in a big way yesterday at Woodbine Racetrack. Two of his Stable Stars, the vastly-improved Kaigun and Lexie Lou swept the two Feature Races of the day, the Grade II Play the King Stakes and also the Wonder Where Stakes, respectively.
We had the amazing opportunity of meeting Barber, who was in great spirits, stopping to pose for Photos on the Turf Course for Track Photographer Mike Burns, as Assistant Trainer Katherine Sullivan showed him around the facilities. He even gave me a fist-bump after Lexie Lou‘s Victory, thanking me for my support!
We of course are a huge Fan of Barber and Lexie Lou!

Of course it did. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reigned this weekend at the Box Office, pulling-in an impressive $65 million from 3,845 theatres for Paramount Pictures across North America. The Revival of the ’80s phenomenon starring Megan Fox, Will Arnett and Johnny Knoxville got lukewarm reception from Audiences with a B CinemaScore and a bashing from Critics with 19% on the Tomatometer. Nonetheless, Families were hooked and it is highly plausible the Film will develop into a new Franchise.
After a record-setting opening last weekend, Marvel‘s Guardians of the Galaxy slips to second spot this weekend with $40 million. In two weeks, the Blockbuster has grossed $175 million domestically.
Warner Bros.’ Disaster Flick Into the Storm debuts in third spot with $17 million from 3,434 theatres. Starring Richard Armitage, the Film was panned by Critics with a 20% Tomatometer rating and a B CinemaScore.
Disney‘s Culinary Drama The Hundred-Foot Journey starring Helen Mirren and produced by Steven Spielberg and Oprah Winfrey, debuts in fourth spot with $10 million from 2,023 theatres.
Step Up All In, the latest in that popular Dance Franchise, opens in sixth spot for eOne Films/Lionsgate Films with $6.3 million from 2,072 theatres. Critics gave it a 43% on the Tomatometer and better B+ CinemaScore.
Planes: Fire & Rescue rounds-out the Top Ten with $2.3 million in its fourth week, earning $52 million cumulatively.
