Finally, some life is breathed into Toronto’s Film Industry with a few exciting updates! Sam Claflin, whose star quickly is on the rise starring in upcoming The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, arrives in Toronto for a few days of shooting next month for Romantic-Comedy, Love, Rosie, based on the Novel by Ceceila Ahern. The Film centers around Best Friends Rosie and Alex who are separated after the latter’s Family relocates to America. Lily Collins, who has been in Toronto much of late for The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones and recent Re-shoots, also stars. Love, Rosie sees a 2014 release.
Pompeii from Paul W.S. Anderson (The Three Musketeers, Resident Evil: Retribution) just began Production and will continue to film till July in the City. Several Game of Thrones Fans around Toronto have had to do a double-take after spotting Kit Harington. The Actor has been sporting lighter-coloured locks for the Film and confirmed to some Fans recently that he has met the entire Cast which includes Jared Harris (Mad Men), Kiefer Sutherland (24) and Emily Browning (Sucker Punch) already, who are scattered in separate parts of the City. Paz Vega (Spanglish) was recently added to the Cast along with Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix).
Those of you who like me are looking forward to Sony Pictures’ Carrie Remake will be excited to know that some of the Cast will be back in Toronto early May for a couple days to do Re-shoots for the Horror. In the meantime, several of the Cast Members have gone-on to do some great things. For one, Julianne Moore of course was just cast in David Cronenberg‘s Map to the Stars, set to film in L.A. reuniting that Director with Robert Pattinson. Gabriella Wilde filmed Squatters with Thomas Dekker (just in Toronto this week). Ansel Elgort who calls Carrie his first Movie ever, was cast in what sure is to be a Hit in Divergent alongside Shailene Woodley. Of course, its Star, Chloë Moretz filmed Kick-Ass 2 here in Toronto last Fall right after Carrie.
The Big Bang Theory Star Kunal Nayyar also just arrived in the City to film Dr. Cabbie’s Meter’s Running starring Vinay Virmani (Breakaway) and Adrianne Palicki (G.I. JOE). The Cast have been in and around the City and last week were spotted in-and-around Bay x Wellesley filming and are expected here till late May.
In another bit of casting news, British Actor Max Beesley (Glitter, Hotel Babylon) has just been cast in USA Network‘s Hit Legal Series Suits and is expected to arrive in the City shortly to begin filming. Filming continues throughout the Summer into October.

The Stars came out in support of The Colony‘s upcoming release at Scotiabank Theatre last night in Toronto. Our v. own Kevin Zegers and Academy Award Nominee Laurence Fishburne walked the Red Carpet, each embarking on a two-day Press Tour in Toronto to promote the Sci-Fi/Action/Thriller.
Handsome Zegers who confirmed he will be getting married this Summer (we broke news of his engagement first last August!) we all know practically is a Torontonian even though he hails from Woodstock, especially having filmed both The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones and The Colony here last year. And even though Fishburne technically isn’t a Torontonian, he pretty much is one honourarily! The Actor has filmed here over the years as has his Wife and Toronto-filmed Suits Star Gina Torres who accompanied him on the Red Carpet last night. More recently, he just wrapped production on upcoming Series Hannibal (premieres April 4, 2013 on City) alongside Hugh Dancy and Mads Mikkelsen.
Director/Writer Jeff Renfroe filmed The Colony last Winter between North Bay and Toronto. The Film is set in a post-Apocalyptic World, amidst the next Ice Age. Members of Colony 7 must fight desperately to save themselves after realizing they may be facing a far worse threat than imagined originally.
More Snaps from the Red Carpet below (thanks to Contributor Jonathan Godfrey and Keith McCalmont):
Some Snaps from The Colony‘s Press Day including a Visit at Global Television‘s The Morning Show:
eOne Films releases The Colony on April 26, 2013. I’ve seen The Colony personally and thought not only was it beautiful to look at, but the Action is outright fierce. Review to come release day!

“You have an incredible gift and we need you. I need you.”.
I cannot contain my excitement at this for multiple reasons. One, this brand new Trailer for The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones not long looks amazing, but also it’s got some funny bits in it! Two, Author Cassandra Clare announces that there will indeed be a Canadian Premiere for one of this Summer’s most eagerly awaited Blockbusters filmed last Summer here in Toronto! “We are thrilled and excited to celebrate with you all. See you soon!”, she says.
Watch the brand new Trailer in full below. The intense opening sequence as Clary (Lily Collins) Mother Jocelyn (Lena Headey) gets taken is just too much to take!
I really cannot contain my excitement for this! Sony Pictures has just released some brand new Stills from The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, in what is almost certain to be the next worth successor in the Young Adult Fiction Adaptation genre to The Twilight Saga. If these faces – with the exception of Kevin Zegers and Jonathan Rhys Meyers, still are only vaguely familar to you now, have my word that this Fall they will be everything: Lily Collins, Jamie Campbell Bower, Godfrey Gao, Robert Sheehan and Jemima West. Toronto had the honour of hosting the filming of this Blockbuster and we can only hope that future installments will be coming back to our City!
Check-out these new Stills below:
Although we’ve been begging for more since seeing its Trailer surface three months ago, here it is again:
Descending upon KISS 92.5 Studios at the break of dawn, The Twilight Saga Stars Charlie Bewley and Canada’s v. own Daniel Cudmore might be a bit making their way to Toronto, but better late than never we always say! The Duo who star as members of The Volturi – Demetri and Felix respectively- are here to promote the final Installment of the massively-successful Franchise, which grossed a near-record-breaking $141 million in North America and a whopping $340 million worldwide this past weekend in its big Debut.
Caught off-guard by the presence of Fans upon arrival, the Duo promised to take Photos following their appearance, but Fans were savvy enough to find them at an alternative exit used to avoid attention. Bewley and Cudmore, the latter who is sporting a Mustache in support of Movember, were super-nice to stop for Group Photos on their way out the Station, en route to a busy day of Press including appearances at CityTV‘s Breakfast Television, The Marilyn Denis Show, MuchMusic‘s New.Music.Live and more! Check-out their Interview of the Roz & Mocha Show here on their Official Website (available soon).
Bewley and Cudmore are confirmed to be surprising Fans at a Screening of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 tonight here in Toronto after 7:00 PM, as reported by KISS 92.5. Now considering that they are scheduled to appear at MuchMusic at 6:00 PM and that Scotiabank Theatre is right behind the Station… I’m just saying… Of course, Varsity Cinemas which also is a possibility, has Showtimes around the same slot. Regardless, good luck in catching a glimpse, Twihards!
eOne Films which distributes The Twilight Saga here in Canada, next is setting its sights on two suitable Genre-Successors to the Throne with Montreal-filmed Warm Bodies and Toronto-filmed The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones coming with big expectations in their 2013 releases.

“There’s a map inside your head, Clary. You are the key to our Survival.”.
There is absolutely no way this isn’t going to be a Smash! Just having wrapped in Toronto last week, a Teaser Trailer for The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones has just surfaced! The Action Sequences look superb and although I have yet to read the original Cassandra Clare Novels, Harald Zwart looks perfectly to have captured a Mood, transporting us into a dangerous, dark, mysterious World along with Lily Collins’ Clary Fray who like us seems to have a lot of questions.
As one of the few People in the City who met most of the Cast while they were in-town, I couldn’t be more thrilled and supportive! This is going to be an Adventure!

Based on the overwhelming amount of requests for more, I put-in a bit of Legwork and was lucky enough to spot the brilliant Jonathan Rhys Meyers tonight on his way back from doing Groceries, following a day at work on the Set of The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones. I had the absolute honour of being the first to nab a Photo with him just a couple weeks back. Read about it here!
Fans who have met Meyers during his stay in Toronto have had nothing but glowing comments about the Irish Actor and I actually have both Photographic and Video Proof of his kindness. See these overjoyed Fans receive a kiss from him after he was touched by their generous gesture of a Gift!
Watch the Video below:
Filming wraps in just under two weeks for this first Film Adaptation of Cassandra Clare‘s Series of Novels, which already has massive expectations for huge numbers.
And see this amazing Birthday Greeting from Meyers to me:

24-year-old Irish Actor Robert Sheehan is on the verge of major Stardom Stateside, currently in Toronto filming The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, playing the integral role of Simon Lewis, who has pined for Clary Fray (Lily Collins) since Childhood. The Actor who has received a BAFTA Nomination for his work in popular Series, The Misfits, soon will be wrapping filming here in the City and although I’ve crossed paths with him a few times in the area, tonight I finally got a Photo with him. Sheehan has been enjoying the company of a good Buddy (seen to his left above) who has been staying with him of late.
Decked-out in a Fedora and an amazing Fur-lined Peacoat (it was faux he tells me!), the Actor headed-out with his Friend after a long day on-set, stopping to greet Fans and sign a few Autographs. What’s that? You’d want one too? Of course! Some Fans noted that he was out at Massey Hall the other night enjoying The XX’s Show earlier this week and recently also participated in the Zombie Walk.

Rounding out the Irish Contingent in The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones is Aidan Turner, currently in Toronto still filming the eagerly-awaited Blockbuster. The handsome Actor sporting a Blonde Streak in his wavy hair, was spotted tonight in Toronto awaiting the arrival of his Girlfriend, later going out for a stroll together. Amazingly, he was able to multitask greeting his Girlfriend and snapping Photos with Fans at once. Talent!
Turner stars as Luke Garroway in The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, a Werewolf who also is second-in-command to Jonathan Rhys Meyers’ Valentine Morgenstern. His Star rapidly is on the rise as he next can be seen in The Hobbit: An Expected Journey, recently wrapping work on all three Installments.

Good things come in big packages. Former WWF Wrestler Kurrgan, né Robert Maillet currently is in Toronto filming The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones. The 6’10 Actor was spotted out and about tonight in Toronto, enjoying an uncharacteristically warm October night, stopping to pose for Photos with Fans.
New Brunswick-born Maillet spent some time in Toronto this past Winter filming Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim, but is back again filming this first Film Adaptation of Cassandra Clare’s popular Novels, starring as Samuel Blackwell, who extends his loyalties to Jonathan Rhys Meyers’ Valentine Morgenstern, the Film’s primary Villain.
