THE PREDATOR, hot off its TIFF ’18 debut last week, preys upon the competition and devours them to the tune of $24.7 million from 4,037 theatres at the Box Office this weekend, taking top spot for 20th Century Fox. It gets 34% on the Tomatometer and a C+ CinemaScore.
In second is last week’s champ THE NUN, which takes $19 million in its second week for Warner Bros. The latest in the bankable Conjuring Franchise has a two week tally of $86 million domestically.
Debuting in third is A SIMPLE FAVOR, Director Paul Feig‘s first foray into Thrillers. It opens with $16 million from 3,102 theatres for Lionsgate Films/eOne Films with 82% on the Tomatometer and also a B+ CinemaScore.
Another TIFF ’18 selection, WHITE BOY RICK opens in fourth with $9.3 million from 2,504 theatres for Sony Pictures. It gets 63% on the Tomatometer and B CinemaScore.
Rounding-out the Top Ten is MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: FALLOUT with $2.3 million for Paramount Pictures. It tallies approximately $215 million in its North American run to date.
CRAZY RICH ASIANS goes strong a second straight week at the Box Office taking the top spot once again with $25.5 million from 3,526 theatres and a healthy $77.4 million over two weeks for Warner Bros.
In second spot is THE MEG surpassing the $100 million-mark for Warner Bros. in just three weeks, earning $11.6 million this weekend.
THE HAPPYTIME MURDERS opens in third with $10.2 million from 3,256 theatres for STX Entertainment/VVS Films. It gets 23% on the Tomatometer and a C- CinemaScore.
In fourth is MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: FALLOUT with $8.2 million, a total $194 million grossed five weeks domestically for Paramount Pictures.
A.X.L., centering on a robot dog, rounds-out the Top Ten for Global Road Entertainment/Open Road Films with $2.3 million from 1,710 theatres. It gets 26% on the Tomatoneter and a B+ CinemaScore.
It’s a new era! With audiences embracing inclusion and diversity more and more, CRAZY RICH ASIANS is the Movie of the Now, taking the top of the Box Office with $21.6 million from 3,384 theatres for Warner Bros. Not only are Critics in love with the Kevin Kwan Bestseller Adaptation, it gets an A CinemaScore from Audiences which should be enough to propel it in coming weeks with word of mouth. Directed by Jon M. Chu, it opened Wednesday night, for a total $31 million over five days.
THE MEG continues to take a bit at the competition in second with $20 million from 4,118 theatres making it a Warner Bros. Top-Two. Over two weeks the shark Action-Thriller has made $82.6 million.
In third is MILE 22 with $14.3 million from 3,250 theatres for STX Entertainment/VVS Films. The fourth collaboration between Director Peter Berg and star Mark Wahlberg, gets 20% on the Tomatometer and a B- CinemaScore.
MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: FALLOUT is in fourth with $10.9 million for Paramount Pictures, a total $181 million over four weeks.
ALPHA debuts in sixth with $9.4 million from 2,719 theatres for Sony Pictures. The story about the first friendship between man and wolf, gets 84% on the Tomatometer and a B+ CinemaScore.
MAMMA MIA! HERE WE GO AGAIN is in ninth with $3.5 million for Universal Pictures in in its fifth a week, a tally of $111.3 million made domestically.
HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA 3: SUMMER VACATION gets $3.4 million for Sony Pictures, a total $153 million over six weeks.
Shark Action-Thriller THE MEG debuts atop the Box Office this weekend with $40 million from 4,118 theatres for Warner Bros. Starring Jason Statham, it gets 51% on the Tomatometer and a B+ CinemaScore.
In second with $18.9 million is MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: FALLOUT after two weeks on-top for Paramount Pictures, earning a three week total of $160.8 million domestically.
CHRISTOPHER ROBIN is in third this weekend with $12.3 million for Disney, a two week total of $49.9 million.
Debuting in fourth is the Horror SLENDER MAN with $11.8 million from 2,358 theatres for Sony Screen Gems/Sony Pictures. It gets 15% on the Tomatometer.
BLACKKKLANSMAN debuts in fifth with $9.4 million from 1,512 theatres for Focus Features/Universal Pictures. This latest effort from Spike Lee gets 97% on the Tomatometer and an A- CinemaScore.
Rounding-out the Top Ten is ANT-MAN AND THE WASP with $3.9 million for a total of $203 million grossed over six weeks in North America.
For a second straight week, we see MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: FALLOUT do the possible, taking the top of the Box Office once again with $34 million from 4,395 theatres for Paramount Pictures. Over two weeks, it has grossed $123.2 million in North America.
Debuting in second with $26.2 million is Disney‘s CHRISTOPHER ROBIN, which is by no means a disgrace. Playing in 3,602 theatres, the Film starring Ewan McGregor gets 67% on the Tomatometer and an A CinemaScore.
In third is the Comedy THE SPY WHO DUMPED ME with $12.8 million earned from 3,111 theatres for Lionsgate Films/eOne Films, in its debut. Starring Kate McKinnon and Mila Kunis, it gets 38% on the Tomatometer and a B CinemaScore.
MAMMA MIA! HERE WE GO AGAIN is in fourth, edging its way closer to $100 million. It garners $8.9 million in its third week out for Universal Pictures, a total of $91.1 million.
TEEN TITANS GO! TO THE MOVIES rounds-out the Top Ten with $4.6 million in its second week out for Warner Bros. It has made $20.5 million thus far domestically.
He just keeps getting better! Tom Cruise is still at the top game 37 years after his acting debut and this weekend he celebrates a Franchise best for MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: FALLOUT! This sixth installment in the Series opens with $60 million from 4,386 theatres, a stellar 97% on the Tomatometer and an A CinemaScore for Paramount Pictures. In second is MAMMA MIA! HERE WE GO AGAIN with $15.3 million from 3,514 theatres for Universal Pictures, a two week tally of $70.7 million after a debut in second last weekend.
EQUALIZER 2 lands in third this weekend with $13.6 million for Sony Pictures, a two week total of $68.2 million. Denzel Washington definitely still has got it!
TEEN TITANS GO! TO THE MOVIES opens in fifth with $10.7 million for Warner Bros. from 3,188 theatres. It gets an excellent 89% on the Tomatometer and a B+ CinemaScore from Audiences.
THE FIRST PURGE rounds-out the Top Ten with $2.7 million for Blumhouse Productions/Universal Pictures, a four-week total of $10.1 million.
Toronto rolled-out the Red Carpet for English Funnyman Simon Pegg. The star known best for the Cornetto Trilogy (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and The World’s End) has heightened his profile with prolific roles in the Star Trek and Mission Impossible Franchises.
While Pegg has visited prior for the Toronto International Film Festival, he came to promote Mission Impossible: Fallout, in which he reprises the role of Benji Dunn. He did various outlets including CITY‘s Breakfast Television, in addition to walking the Red Carpet for the Film at Scotiabank Theatre.
Hosted by eTalk‘s Devon Soltendieck, Pegg introduced the Film to a lucky audience and you’ll never guess what happened! Pegg publicly professed his love for us “Oh, I can’t get enough of the guy!” when asked if he was a fan of ours!
