Pacific Northwest Pictures x Mr. Will want to give Readers a chance to win Advance Passes to an screening in Toronto of THE ART OF SELF-DEFENSE on Monday, July 15, 2019.
Synopsis: Casey (Jesse Eisenberg), a meek and timid man, is attacked at random on the street. He subsequently enrolls at a local dojo led by a charismatic and mysterious sensei (Alessandro Nivola), in an effort to learn how to defend himself.
What he uncovers is a sinister world of fraternity, violence and hypermasculinity and a woman (Imogen Poots) fighting for her place in it. Casey undertakes a journey, both frightening and darkly funny, that will place him squarely in the sights of his enigmatic new mentor.
Much like director Jeremy Saulnier’s previous film Blue Ruin, Green Room is the very definition of a slow-burn thriller. A punk rock band perform at a small venue run by Neo-Nazis, and witness an act of violence. Now they are trapped and their chances of survival are fleeting.
It feels excruciating at first with its lengthy set-up, but once Green Room gets moving, it becomes downright relentless. The Film is a nightmare wrapped inside another terrifying nightmare, forgoing its staggered laughs for increasingly vicious violence. I am not one to have an aversion to blood and gore, but I found myself grimacing more than once with some of the horrific things that happen to people here, good or bad. Anton Yelchin, Alia Shawkat, Imogen Poots, Saulnier regular Macon Blair and a scary-good Patrick Stewart all give great performances, but the real star is the incredible tension Saulnier envelopes you in right until the very end.
Green Room has completed its screenings at TIFF’15.
DreamWorks Pictures and Mr. Will Wongwant to take Toronto Readers to a super-exciting Thrill Ride to an Advance Screening ofNEED FOR SPEED, the latest from DirectorScott Waugh, starringred-hotAaron Paul. Although there are no guarantees, there is the possibility Talent may be in attendance. Maybe!

NEED FOR SPEED centers around Tobey Marshall (Aaron Paul), a blue-collar Mechanic who races Muscle Cars on the side in an unsanctioned Street-Racing Circuit. Struggling to keep his Family-owned Garage afloat, he reluctantly partners with the wealthy and arrogant ex-NASCAR Driver Dino Brewster (Dominic Cooper). But just as a major sale to Car Broker Julia Bonet (Imogen Poots) looks like it will save Tobey‘s Shop, a disastrous race allows Dino to frame Tobey for a crime he didn’t commit, and sending Tobey to prison while Dino expands his Business out west.
Two years later, Tobey is released and set on revenge — but he knows his only chance to take down his rival Dino is to defeat him in the high-stakes race known as De Leon — the Super Bowl of Underground Racing. However to get there in time, Tobey will have to run a high-octane, action-packed Gauntlet that includes dodging pursuing Cops coast-to-coast as well as contending with a dangerous bounty Dino has put out on his Car. With the help of his loyal Crew and the surprisingly resourceful Julia, Tobey defies odds at every turn and proves that even in the flashy world of exotic Supercars, the Underdog can still finish first.
