Filming just began this week for ABC Family‘s Shadowhunters, based on Cassandra Clare’s bestselling The Mortal Instruments Series of Young Adult Novels. After some night shoots this week, the Cast had a relaxing day around town.
We spotted stars Harry Shum (Magnus Bane), Isaiah Mustafa (Luke Garroway) and Matthew Daddario (Alec Lightwood) out and about – the former two meeting up for a Movie at Scotiabank Theatre, while the latter was out playing some Basketball before going out to dinner.
All were more than nice to stop for Selfies! Daddario (brother of Alexandra who stars in this weekend’s #1 Movie at the Box Office, San Andreas) made himself presentable even promising a Pic after he showered and walking right over to me after he was Photo-ready!
We know how supportive you Shadowhunters have been so this one is for all of you!

NOTE: These are estimates. Final totals to come Sunday.
If there ever were any doubt that Dwayne Johnson was a big Movie Star, this oughta settle it! SAN ANDREAS debuts at number one this weekend with a stellar $46.5 million for Warner Bros. from 3,777 theatres. As a Leading Actor, this would be his highest debut yet, besting 2013’s G.I. Joe: Retaliation, which opened with $40.1 million. Critics were on-the-fence with a 49% on the Tomatometer, but Audiences were pleased with an A- CinemaScore.
TOMORROWLAND after debuting on-top last weekend lands in second his weekend with $16.5 million for Disney, from 3,972 theatres. In its two weeks domestically, it has made $64 million.
PITCH PERFECT 2 won’t quit singing in third for Universal Pictures, with $13.9 million in its third week out, well on its way to surpassing $150 million early this week.
MAD MAX: FURY ROAD continues to do well in fourth this weekend with $11.6 million for Warner Bros., a three-week tally of $114 million.
ALOHA is Cameron Crowe‘s latest and despite a superb Cast including Bradley Cooper, Emma Stone and Rachel McAdams, it missed he mark among Critics, getting 18% only on the Tomatometer. Audiences were more forgiving with a B- CinemaScore. It opens in 2,815 theatres with $10.4 million, placing sixth.
FAR FROM THE MADDING CROWD continues to hang-on to the Top Ten with a smart release strategy from Fox Searchlight. In its fifth week out, it has made $1.2 million, good enough for eighth. Thus far in a limited number of theatres, it has made $8.2 million.
HOT PURSUIT rounds-out the Top Ten with $1.1 million for Warner Bros., in its fourth week out. Its total is at $32 million in North America.
We’re not quite sure why he’s here, but we love Justin Long and are thrilled he’s back after having returned multiple times for TIFF for Films like 10 Years and Youth in Revolt. The Star of Films like Accepted, Going the Distance, Drag Me To Hell and Live Free or Die Hard has been quiet of late, but has been attaching his name as Producer to upcoming projects. He appears next in Kevin Smith‘s Yoga Hosers, along with Johnny Depp.
Some Fans and I spotted Long returning from some continuous meetings he’s been having here for the past few days.
“Tell me who you’re really waiting for!”, he says humbly and when he was reassured Fans actually were waiting on him, the Actor who is seeing Amanda Seyfried, still refused to believe it.
We’ll be sure to post more when we’re more sure what Long is here for!

Michael Madsen has gained popularity for his memorable performances in Quentin Tarantino Cult Classics like Reservoir Dogs, Kill Bill and eagerly-anticipated The Hateful Eight. He also has appeared in several other notable Films like Thelma & Sin City and Free Willy.
Madsen is in Toronto promoting the Vaughan Film Festival, which sees him being honoured with an Independent Leadership Award tonight. The Actor did the rounds in the City including stops at Breakfast Television, KISS 92.5, CBC and more. After arriving super early at CityTV, he took his time leaving, being sure to stop in his sunglasses, for each individual Fan in a calm, collective manner.

Filming continues for Suicide Squad and while we do love having the A-List Cast in the City, local Businesses and Commuters are starting to see the impacts of reduced handle and increased commute times respectively.
A strip of Yonge Street was shut down by Eaton Centre last night and Onlookers got to witness a positively cool Spectacle as The Joker (played by Jared Leto) – or his Body Double at least – sped along the Street. The Batmobile even made an appearance.
A quick look:
Filming wrapped almost at 7 AM, as one by one Cast Members Karen Fukuhara, Margot Robbie, Jay Hernandez, Joel Kinnaman, Jai Courtney and Adewale made their way back to Wardrobe, sporting some physical wear and tear in their makeup, indicating somewhat of a physical scene being filmed in an interior. We caught-up with some of the Cast who despite it being a really long day on-set, still made time to say “hi” before wrapping. Courtney who normally is quiet on-set, patiently stopped for Fans via a roll-down of his window and was wowed by my Camera. “Wow! A Selfie on a Long Lens. Nice!”, he said.
Robbie who consistently is not doing Selfies on-set, much to the disappointment of Fans, signed a sea of Autographs, noticing one Fan who brought along some Suicide Squad Ball Caps which impressed her. She took one home even! This weekend one lucky Fan at Varsity Cinemas was lucky to get a Selfie with the lovely Aussie.
I’M SPEECHLESS. She came to our theatre today again I asked her like “Are you someone who I’m thinking?”, then she nicely answered yes. She was nice enough to take selfie of us and give me an autograph. Nothing can bother me now. What a wonderful day! #MargotRobbie#australian#actress#Thewolfofwallstreet#NaomiLapaglia#Focus#JessBarrett#Suicidesquad#HarleyQuinn#selfie#autogragh#cineplex A photo posted by Yujiro William Sekiguchi (@shikkuro24) on
Hernandez stuck to his word, promising a quick moment with Fans, pulling over his Van to sign everything passed his way and surprisingly was quick to remove his El Diablo skeletal makeup. Kinnaman despite looking most tired, was kind to get out of his SUV to greet Fans. Class Act.
Filming continues through the Downtown Core this week before heading again off-location back to Pinewood Studio.

It was an extremely close match at the Box Office this Memorial Day weekend but TOMORROWLAND prevails over last week’s Champ, Pitch Perfect 2 narrowly with a $35 million debut! PITCH PERFECT 2 continues to outperform itself in its second week opening with $34 million from 3,560 theatres for Universal Pictures, just shy of a two-week reign. Thus far domestically, it already has surpassed $100 million, which is massive considering its modest budget.

Now in its 25th year, the Inside Out LGBT Film Festival takes place in Toronto from Thursday, May 21 through Sunday, May 31, 2015. The Festival which is comprised of Events, Parties and Films, gives a voice to an under-represented community in Cinema, promoting, producing and exhibiting Films relevant to the LGBT Community regardless or race, age or ability.
Highlighting this year’s Festival is Opening Night Gala, GRANDMA, directed by Paul Weitz and starring Lily Tomlin, Judy Greer and Laverne Cox, about three generations of Women trying to overcome their demons. Also in the Galas and Special Presentations Program, FRESNO screens the first Saturday night of the Festival. The Film is about a group of sisters who help each other stay out of jail after a relapse out of rehab leads to murder. Several years of unresolved issues come to light. Natasha Lyonne, Judy Greer and Aubrey Plaza star. FOURTH MAN OUT is about a guy involved with a tight-knit group of male friends, when accidentally he is outed, which changes the dynamic of their friendship completely. PORTRAIT OF A SERIAL MONOGAMIST closes the Festival with a distinct Canadian flavour, having been filmed in Toronto. It centers on a TV Producer who breaks-up with her Girlfriend, with her sights set on a Barista, only to meet the disapproval of her Family and Friends.
Other Special Guests include: Drag Queen Jinkx Monsoon, MMA Star Fallon Fox, Tab Hunter and several more.
We had the pleasure of attending the Festival’s Opening Night Party held at luxurious Malaparte at TIFF Bell Lightbox, soaking-in the fun, following the Premiere of GRANDMA. Guests enjoyed live re-enactments of iconic LGBT Films like Brokeback Mountain, snacked on Lobster Sliders, Cauliflower Tacos, Rainbow Popcorn and Macarons, among other things, while listening to spinning of Producer and DJ JD Samson of influencial Electroclash Trio, Le Tigre. Silent Auctions were bountiful with items ranging from Sex Toys to Liquor to Experiences.
James Fanizza also was the proud recipient of the Inside Out Harold Greenberg Fund Short to Feature Award, which saw him win a prize of $10k which will help him transition his Short Film You Are Free into a Feature Film.

Although Toronto has brought him here many a time to film, Australian Actor/Writer/Director Leigh Whannell is in Toronto promoting the latest installment in his bankable Horror Franchise, Insidious 3. He is known for his work in creating the wildly-successful Saw Franchise along with James Wan, who helmed record-breaking Smash, Furious 7.
Along with Whannell on this Tour is Actress Lin Shaye, whom many of us will recognize from her unforgettable performance as tanned Dog Lover, Magda in There’s Something About Mary.
The Duo stopped off at Global Television‘s The Morning Show (National Edition) today to chat about the Horror, which goes way back to the start.
Both Whannell and Shaye were kind to greet Fans in and out of the venue, Whannell insisting on seeing our Snap before letting me keep it. Shaye gave a friendly reminder to see the Movie when it hits theatres via eOne Films on Friday, June 5, 2015.
