His name probably doesn’t ring a bell just yet, but Billy Magnussen‘s profile is rising fast. The New York-born Actor/Songwriter/Singer/Guitarist has an extensive background in Theatre, having made his debut on Broadway in 2007. Did I mention he’s a TONY Award Nominee?
Currently in-town filming eagerly-awaited WEtv Series The Divide from among others, Executive Producers Richard LaGravenese (P.S. I Love You, Beautiful Creatures) and Tony Goldwyn (Scandal, Ghost), he is dividing (pardon the pun) his time between here and New York City – where he plays with his Band Reserved for Rondee.
Magnussen has padded his profile with roles on As the World Turns and Indie Darlings like Damsels in Distress and The Brass Teapot, but his Big Break would appear to be a prominent role in upcoming Musical Into the Woods as Rapunzel’s Prince, opposite Mackenzie Mauzy who of course plays, Rapunzel. The Film also stars a few little-known Actors like Anna Kendrick, Chris Pine, Johnny Depp, Emily Blunt and some Newbie named Meryl Streep.
I spotted the Actor flying back to Toronto tonight and after checking-in with guitar-in-tow, he was amazing to stop for a quick Photo, all smiles. Excited to see what’s next for this Rising Star!
Into the Woods hits theatres via Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures on Christmas Day.

Beautiful Creatures. Freedom Writers. P.S. I Love You. Behind the Candelabra. These are just some of the memorable Films which talented Writer/Director Richard LaGravenese has gifted us with over the years and although some Critics may have their own opinions about these Films, he has always left an impression with Audiences.
LaGravenese is currently in Toronto working on upcoming WEtv Series The Divide, about a Lawyer who unravels new evidence about a sensational Murder Case. He currently is attached as a Writer and Executive Producer to the new Series which stars Joe Anderson, whom we spotted a while back. Tony Goldwyn (Scandal, Ghost) also holds an Executive Producer and Director credit on the Series, although we are unsure how many Episodes he will be helming.
“How do you know who I am?”, he asks me after telling me he was out shopping today. Oh, trust me, I know LaGravenese‘s work v. well! I also am eagerly awaiting his next Comedy, The Last 5 Years starring Anna Kendrick due this year.
The Divide wraps at the end of March.

Although it quietly has been filming in the City, there have been few sightings of its Stars. By chance today, I spotted The Divide Star Joe Anderson out and about and the British Actor actually was surprised to be noticed! “You were looking at me like I was a criminal!”, he jokes with me, noticing me intently trying to piece together where I’ve seen him.
Those of you who saw 2007’s The Beatles-inspired Musical Across the Universe will remember him as Max Carrigan and those of you who saw acclaimed Control will recall that he played Peter Hook. Although he’s been quiet of late, Anderson was seen in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Part 2 as Alistair and Box Office Hit, The Grey alongside Liam Neeson. He next can be seen in Vancouver-filmed Horns, which premiered at TIFF ’13, starring Daniel Radcliffe.
Written by Richard LaGravanese (P.S. I Love You) and produced by Tony Goldwyn (Scandal), the Series centers around a District Attorney who uncovers new evidence, prompting a sensational Murder Case to be re-opened.
The Divide films up through early May 2014 and is slated to air on WE tv.
