Bell Media held their annual Upfront, previewing their upcoming 2022/2023 programming slate of returning and new programming across their family of networks, and also streaming service Crave. The event returned in-person at Meridian Hall, giving a glimpse for the for the first time many new acquisitions and confirmations. Here to ring-in the occasion were some recognizable names like Chad Michael Murray, Scott Patterson, Mena Massoud, Will Yun Lee, Meg Donnelly, Rebecca Romijn and several more!

Each one-hour episode features Massoud as he explores the exploding plant-based food scene across North America, visiting cities such as Los Angeles, Portland, Toronto, Vancouver and New York City to meet the trailblazing chefs and restaurateurs serving up the best vegan eats each city has to offer. He will also meet with exciting innovators within the plant-based food space and link up with celebrity friends and locals as they eat their way through each locales’ best vegan offerings. The series, a co-production with APTN, explores themes of resilience in the face of trauma and loss. Removed from her home in Long Pine Reserve in Saskatchewan, Bezhig Little Bird is adopted into a Montréal Jewish family at the age of five, becoming Esther Rosenblum. Now in her 20s, Bezhig longs for the family she lost and is willing to sacrifice everything to find them. Her quest lands her in the Canadian prairies, worlds apart from everything she knows. As she begins to track down her siblings, she unravels the mystery behind her adoption, and discovers that her apprehension was connected to a racist government policy now known as the Sixties Scoop. SISTERS – Crave

#SPOTTED: OLIVIA ROSE KEEGAN & MISHA COLLINS IN TORONTO FOR “GOTHAM KNIGHTS”, MCKENNA GRACE FOR “THE HANDMAID’S TALE”, REBECCA ROMIJN FOR “STAR TREK: STRANGE NEW WORLDS” AND JASON BUTLER HARNER

Productions are back in full swing in Toronto and we couldn’t be happier!

One of the latest projects to film in Toronto is The CW Pilot GOTHAM KNIGHTS, which begins production next week. The Series imagines a Batman-less Gotham and the heroes who step-in to save it from danger.

Synopsis:

In the wake of Bruce Wayne’s murder, his rebellious adopted son forges an unlikely alliance with the children of Batman’s enemies when they are all framed for killing the Caped Crusader. And as the city’s most wanted criminals, this renegade band of misfits must fight to clear their names. But in a Gotham with no Dark Knight to protect it, the city descends into the most dangerous it’s ever been. However, hope comes from the most unexpected of places as this team of mismatched fugitives will become its next generation of saviors known as the Gotham Knights.

Olivia Rose Keegan has landed the role of Duela Dent in the Pilot, and is already in town to being work. You might recognize her for her work as Lily in High School Musical: The Musical: The Series on Disney+. She also won a Daytime Emmy in 2020 for Outstanding Younger Performer, recognizing her work as Claire Brady on Days of our Lives. Big things are ahead as Keegan stars alongside Riley Keough in DAISY JONES & THE SIX, and also popular HBO Max series MINX.

Above this, we also spotted her Co-Star, the amazing MISHA COLLINS whom you loved in SUPERNATURAL. Just last year he was seen in TIFF ’21 selection ENCOUNTER starring alongside eventual Oscar winner Riz Ahmed. Collins is such a kind soul, taking a moment to stop for pictures with fans despite being held back for a while after landing. He stars in GOTHAM KNIGHTS as villain Harvey Dent.

Mckenna Grace ‘s star continues to rise fast. Yes, that was her starring in Box Office-topping GHOSTBUSTERS: AFTERLIFE, and yes, that was her as young Tonya Harding in Oscar-nominated I, TONYA. And yup, just checked, that was also her in TV hits FULLER HOUSE and YOUNG SHELDON. The sweet Grace was spotted back in the City to do work on acclaimed THE HANDMAID’S TALE as Esther Keyes, but of course not without her adorable Yorkie named Gizmo!

Also in-town is REBECCA ROMIJN, whom also was a victim of delays upon arriving, but still managing to look super-chic, sporting a Gucci x The North Face collabo bag. She’s back in-town filming STAR TREK: STRANGE NEW WORLDS which premieres on Paramount+ this May. She reprises her role as Una Chin-Riley from STAR TREK: DISCOVERY.

You know how much we love Netflix‘s OZARK. How amazing is it that we got to meet JASON BUTLER HARNER, who stars as FBI Agent Roy Petty in the first two seasons, hot on Marty Byrde‘s (Jason Bateman) trail? He wouldn’t quite disclose what he’s in-town filming but nonetheless was so amazingly-nice!

Overjoyed to see these smiling faces in our City and we can’t wait to see what’s next and coming!

#SPOTTED: REBECCA ROMIJN & JON TENNEY IN TORONTO FOR “KING AND MAXWELL”

After having filmed its Pilot in Toronto last Fall, King & Maxwell soon gets its introduction to Canada premiering later this week on Showcase.  Its two Stars Rebecca Romijn (Michelle Maxwell) and Jon Tenney (Sean King) are in the City today promoting the TNT Series centering on two disgraced former Secret Service Agents who solve crimes privately as Private Detectives.

Beginning with an appearance on KISS 92.5‘s The Roz & Mocha Show both Actors looking impeccable, were all smiles greeting Fans upon arrival, kindly taking their time to stop to pose with Fans before later heading to Global Television’s The Morning Show (National Edition).  On the latter, Tenney describes the Series’ two main Characters, stating  “I’m a Man of Words, she’s a Woman of Action”.  The Duo electrified during a Chemistry Read together, him getting cast first and her next.  Romijn praises her Co-Star for being wonderful to work with, revealing that he quickly has become her Childrens’ favourite person. “I think they like him (Tenney) more than they like cake.”, she jokes.  On the most challenging thing about filming the Series, both Stars recall long 18-19 hour work days. “Working out-of-town away from the Family, that’s definitely the hardest thing”, admits Tenney.

#SPOTTED: JERRY O’CONNELL IN TORONTO

The best surprises are  always the ones you least expect!  After spending the weekend in California enjoying Horse Racing’s Championship Day, the Breeders’ Cup at Santa Anita Park, I spotted Funnyman Jerry O’Connell here in Toronto of all places at Queen Station.  My Best Friend Fran was out with me at the time, and the timing was perfect since we are huge Mariah Carey Fans (O’Connell starred in her amazing Heartbreaker Video) and we both also love the campy Thriller Obsessed in which he stars as stalked Idris Elba‘s Co-Worker. He could be heard chatting with his Mom on his Cell Phone just as he entered the Station and was gracious to stop for a couple Photos for us Fans.

Many might wonder why the Actor, known best for his work on Series like Sliders, The Defenders and My Secret Identity, is in-town and as announced recently his Wife – Actress Rebecca Romijn – currently is in-town filming TV Pilot King and Maxwell till mid-November.  Just down the street from Queen Station, Romijn was hard at work as bright lights lit-up the Financial District during the Night Shoot.

McConnell was seen only recently on NBC Television Movie Mockingbird Lane, which aired before Halloween starring alongside Wife of Ellen DeGeneres – Portia de Rossi – and Eddie Izzard.

#FILMING: REBECCA ROMIJN TORONTO-BOUND FOR “KING AND MAXWELL”

Great news, Toronto! Beautiful Actress/Model (and former Wife of John Stamos) Rebecca Romijn has just been cast in upcoming TNT Pilot, King and Maxwell. Centering around a Pair of former Secret Service Agents who use their skills to fight Criminals. Maxwell (Romijn) is forced to resign from the Secret Service is driven to prove herself once again, while King (Jon Tenney) plays her Counterpart.  We can expect some explosive Chemistry between the Duo.

Several parallels already are being drawn between King and Maxwell and Series Moonlighting (1985-1989), which made Bruce Willis a Household Name.  This of course isn’t the first time Romijn‘s been here as 2000 Blockbuster X-Men, which had her starring as Mystique, was filmed mostly in-and-around Toronto.  That Role since has been taken-over by Jennifer Lawrence.

The Shoot will be fast and furious, taking place in Toronto between November 3-15, 2012. Thanks Michelle for the heads-up!
