And in the blink of an eye the 2020 season has begun at Woodbine Racetrack! We heard the cries of frustration of the racing community and we couldn’t be happier for them. While we won’t be permitted to watch races in-person for a bit, watching them on TV from home gives us a bit of comfort seeing familiar faces once again, even if from afar. The purses are bigger than ever, the daily handles are gastronomical. Some new stars are emerging and some are back with a vengeance!
Racing went off without a hitch on opening weekend @WoodbineTB. The combined Saturday/Sunday handle was a solid $11.3 million. Racing resumes Thursday. No Friday card this week. #woodbine

Much credit goes to the team at Woodbine for ensuring everything was to standard and beyond getting the athletes and workers to this stage.
We had so much fun catching-up with some of our closest racing friends over Zoom today and we all agree we can’t wait to see each other again at the track. So blessed to have met so many friends in the community whom we’ve developed such strong bonds with that extend beyond the races. We were planning our road trips as soon as we’re permitted to be at the races again and already have a list of tracks to visit!
So nice seeing my racing pals on Zoom! @WoodbineTB, we are coming for you whenever you’ll let us! @ZenyattaMafia @reddogcw @All_ice007 @SPNnation74 @JohnW70112 pic.twitter.com/rVmGav2t6w

One question that popped-up was when Mr Will is going to make his big debut! We’re thrilled to confirm that it’s happening soon, according to his Owner/Trainer Michelle Love. Physically, he’s never looked stronger and we are so grateful for the patience his Exercise Rider Nikki Alderson and Michelle have shown him. He does continue to throw some speedy workouts, which might go unnoticed when 150 horses are training at the same distance on the same day, many with much more experience than him. We learned that William‘s gate training was his biggest obstacle showing his teenage moodiness and reluctance to go in, but we’re thrilled to report that he got his “Gate Card” this past weekend. This means that he’s met the standard to begin racing soon! We’re overjoyed.

Game faces. ♦️ Thanks @ellenschoemanphotography for capturing Nikki and me today!
William has been working in company and keeping-up with his stablemate Bend in the River who lost only narrowly today in his second race. Sadly, his buddy was claimed by a new Owner and Trainer, but Michelle had done an amazing job with that one getting him ready. We’re confident William will make us proud as he figures out what it is to be a racehorse. We don’t expect him to get it right off the bat. Like us, sometimes we take a few tries to get it. Don’t be surprised if you see his name in the entries really soon!
He did a bit of schooling today with Jayne, his Caretaker and Michelle tells us he was on his best behaviour.

More training with Mom and Jayne. I was a very good boy, Mom says. Thank God there were no gates!
We all love Princess (A Pic by Mrwill) and while this isolation period has us missing our Mr Will and Princess time, it gives us great reassurance knowing how well cared-for they are. Princess and her family have moved to a fantastic facility temporarily while her forever home is completing renovation at her Mom Emily Fisher‘s private residence. She misses her little brothers Freddy and Eddy so much, the latter who loves to chase her and the girls around, keeping them fit! But they will be reunited soon!
Doesn’t she look gorgeous? Great to know she’s keeping-up with her grooming. Hoping we can get a haircut soon too!
Wishing everyone an amazing 2020 racing season. Win lots! We hope it won’t be long before we see you again!

2020 has been awful challenging. Believe me, our hearts are with the Horse Racing community right now with racing cancelled or postponed both sides of the border, with a select few racetracks continuing operations with access restricted to the public. With the 2020 season postponed indefinitely at Woodbine Racetrack, we are glad that safety of the community is being placed first on the backstretch. At the same time, we worry for our friends whose livelihoods depended on that initial April 18, 2020 start date and also the concerned owners who have to wait even longer for a return on investment from their stock. We know for certain this period of isolation amidst COVID-19 worries, will continue into the Summer and our racing season’s marquee event the Queen’s Plate, accordingly has followed suit in its postponement.
Despite all this, we have our health and safety to treasure and I wouldn’t choose to be anywhere else than Canada where at a provincial and federal level, the situation has been handled in an exemplary manner. The 2020 racing season will commence at some point and those fruits of labour also will come. Sending all my support and encouragement that while times are harrowing and tough right now, we are all in this for the long haul and we are not alone in our losses. While setbacks are temporary, resilience will prevail in the end. Let’s not obsess about things that weigh-down our spirits, but instead do all we can do to help us all get back to business as soon and safe as possible. Know at the end of the day those fans will be there to cheer the community on at the end of the tunnel when time allows.
That being said, we were so excited to see Mr Will return to training last month after nursing a minor injury over the winter. The time away looks to be paying off. His Owner/Trainer Michelle Love reports to us after outfinishing his workmate under exercise rider Nikki Alderson, “Our boy came out of his workout better then ever!! He thinks he’s a racehorse now. All business.”. That brings me joy and he just returned home again for some rest with the delayed start of the racing season. His much anticipated debut will come before we know it and we know it will be so worth it!
Some Snaps of Mr Will‘s first jog on Woodbine‘s Training Track under Love, accompanied by his Dad, Rob Love, Woodbine’s Head Outrider. It was awful quiet that morning, being frigid out, but he was super-professional!
Mr Will also was paired again with Jayne Smith, who always gives him that extra bit of loving care.
…and of course a new Snuggle Buddy for our little champ! He loves his plushies.
Did I tell you how Mr Will and Princess (A Pic by Mrwill) finally met? I was overjoyed seeing them together at last! Mr Will and some of the babies from Love’s stable were brought to the facility where Princess is boarded for some schooling earlier this year. They hit it off just great!
Princess continues to thrive in her life of retirement. Her Mom Emily Fisher (second photo, above) has done a fantastic job nursing her back to wellness and socializing her with her new family. Princess always has been a special filly, perhaps getting along better with humans than horses. You might recall she almost lost her life as a baby, getting nursed back to health by caretakers and of course our constant pampering made her lose sight of who she really is. She’s adjusted beautifully, enjoying her time outdoors in the company of her family.

Happy. Everyone stay safe. Protect your loved ones by sanitizing and avoiding unnecessary travel. ♥️
Happy Holidays, from our dear Prince (Mr Will) and Princess (A Pic by Mrwill)! We hope that yours are filled with joy and happiness – from our gorgeous equine family to yours!
So happy to see Princess coming around so well and become who she was meant to become. She’s calmed-down significantly in recent months and I love that she’s made a circle of friends at her farm. Because she’s so used to having been around people, she’s missed the opportunity to socialize like a horse. Recent retiree Corey’s Best (by Seeking the Best) is an earner of almost $150k for Trainer Ron Sadler who was taken-in by some amazing people. She now lives across the hall from Princess, who has taken to her like a big sister, the two enjoying lots of play time together outside and of course, sharing mama Emily!
Their neighbour, Fort Erie‘s reigning Horse of the Year Sniper also is loving his life at the farm as well. Handsome devil.
Emily has taught Princess a few tricks including a bow. She completely has filled-out now and motherhood definitely is in the books at some point with Emily having narrowed it down to a few options for stallions. We can’t wait! Maybe 2020 will be the year.
There’s a new kitty on the block and we love Chico, who belongs to Melissa Girard, a groom to Trainer Julie Belhumeur at Woodbine. Chico is staying at the farm this winter and it seems Princess has taken to the adorable boy (as have I!).
Mr Will continues to enjoy life at the farm surrounded by some new additions to the family by his mom, Michelle, including yearling fillies by Bear’s Kid and red-hot Souper Speedy. His training mate Show Some Skin (nicknamed Anastasia), also by Souper Speedy, put in a fantastic run at the end of the Woodbine meet, finishing second after being bet-down as the heavy-favourite under Patrick Husbands. Big things are definitely ahead for her.
While he had some minor setbacks in 2019, we’re excited for Prince to make his debut at Woodbine as a three-year-old, which suits us just fine as he’s definitely bred to get better with age being by Queen’s Plate winner Not Bourbon.
Here he is with his big sis Bear Kitty (left) who just loves to boss him around, though he doesn’t mind!
And here he is with his said two new baby sisters and his family!
One more signature Selfie for 2019 with Princess and Prince!
May your 2020 be filled with dreams fulfilled and conquered goals!
Feast well!

Honestly, where did the summer go? We have had the busiest August-September ever but we’re happy to catch a breather finally and take in what a productive year it’s been so far. I’ll admit my birthday this year is going to be extra tough without having Billy around, but what one can do is surround themselves with those they love and what better way to lift my spirits than to see our Princess and Prince this weekend?
Princess (A Pic by Mrwill) was such a sight for sore eyes. We’re so happy to see her back to her old self. She was beginning to get a bit antsy being on stall rest and also coming out of it, but she seems to have calmed down significantly thanks to the amazing work of her new mom Emily Fisher. Emily has been so patient bringing her around and Princess has never looked better! Cathy, Princess’ former owner was excited to see her as it had been a while and I decided to bring Amanda from Team Mr. Will, plus my BFF Habeyah up to see her. Amanda and Habeyah were a bit hesitant to feed Princess treats because she is so tall and towering, but after showing them the way – hands flat with carrots laid-out on the palm – they realized quickly there was nothing to be afraid of! They actually found Princess to be quite gentle and fuzzy. She definitely loves her treats so it should be no surprise how much she loves dressing-up for Halloween. We had so many little get-ups for Princess to try on and she nailed all the looks!
Boop!

Congrats to my new neighbour SNIPER, who was awarded Horse of the Year at @forterieracetrack!
Our little Prince William (Mr Will) recently returned home to his family’s farm in Mono after a summer of training at Woodbine Racetrack. After training very forwardly, he’s had some minor setbacks and his Owner/Trainer Michelle Love has confirmed he will debut in 2020. She is very excited about his potential and she is doing the right thing, taking her time with him.
We made a quick visit to see him and he was in great spirits, taking handfuls of Peppermints from me. The handsome little devil looked so happy running around nursing a small cut he got playing with one of the new additions to the family. William‘s sis Anastasia (Show Some Skin) will make her debut this weekend and we’re so excited finally for our schedule to line-up right to see her run!

It’s been a hot summer and we know our Prince William (Mr Will) and Princess (A Pic by Mrwill) have been enjoying it!
It’s been about a month since we’ve seen our dear Princess but her Mom Emily Fisher has been wonderful keeping us posted on her updates. We’re so thrilled she’s finally able to go out and enjoy the sun and the grass after recovering fully from her injury which had her on stall rest for over a year. Emily has taken every precaution to ensure this doesn’t occur again and the wait has been worth it! We knew she would get here one day and she’s shown so much patience and deserves this happiness.
See how happy our big girl in pink looks!
Congrats also to Keveh Nicholl‘s, Princess’ new Papa, who not too long ago returned to riding on the local circuit and has picked-up some nice scores at both Fort Erie and Woodbine, including this one last weekend for Trainer Tedston Holder on STREET CAT SAM! You might recall when Princess was three, she spent the winter in Ocala, Florida training. Tedston was one of the people who took care of her down there. Amazing this all came back full circle!
She keeps growing! Princess with Keveh:
Our little Prince William (Mr Will) sure is developing quite a personality and his Mom, Trainer and Owner Michelle Love is thrilled how well he’s developing. She messaged me yesterday to tell me that his three-furlong breeze was super-professional, saying “He outworked his workmates and galloped our strongly”. He’s building endurance as we know his first breeze a furlong longer a couple weeks back had him tuckered-out. We’re so excited!
Amidst last week’s rainstorm and subsequent flooding, Michelle brought him out on the track for a jog and it was a learning experience seeing him react to the rain. She joked he was “like a puppy”. Wish I was there to see that and snap some pics!
His awesome workout:
We still don’t have a date when Mr Will is set to make his debut but he’s sure heading in the right direction fast.

We don’t believe the Queen’s Plate is only a few weeks away! That marks the official one year mark Princess (A Pic by Mrwill) left Woodbine to begin her life of retirement. Where did the time go?
We checked-in with our two godchildren this weekend and they’re both doing so amazingly well. You wouldn’t believe it, but Princess still is growing and she’s five-years-old. According to her Veterinarian, this isn’t normal! LOL She now enjoys her daily turnout on the field at her new summer residence at her Aunt Mandy‘s near Bolton. Also there are some of her new friends including Little Freddy Fisher, an adorable mini-pony owned by Emily Fisher, Princess‘ new mom. As it’s been a while since she’s been able to run free while recuperating from her injury, Emily is trying to keep her calm and safe while she gets accustomed to her new surroundings. Princess’ appetite still is as voracious as ever, as is expected of a growing girl!
On the Prince front, Mr Will has been progressing nicely for his mom, Michelle Love. He’s on a regular training schedule on the Main Track at Woodbine in the mornings and has been throwing bullet workouts every week since his first official workout May 17th. He’s been working in company with some other babies in his barn and Michelle tells us she’s very excited with how he’s coming along! It’s fascinating seeing his personality shape and he’s definitely got a bit of fire to him. It’s true what they say about firey Gingers! He isn’t quite as snuggly and treat-obsessed as Princess and he can get a little bit nippy at times, but he is undeniably a sweet boy who does like affection. There isn’t a date set yet for those wondering when he’ll debut at the races, but he definitely is showing ability!

Happy Easter from our little Prince William and Princess! 🐇
It’s been a bit since we’ve checked in with you about our two stars. MR. WILL or William as we like to call him around the barn, is progressing great for his Owner and Trainer Michelle Love, going for regular jogs around the Training Track at Woodbine with his sis, a sweet two-year-old filly by hot sire Souper Speedy, who is unnamed but known right now as Anastasia (yes, as in Fifty Shades of Grey).
Michelle tells us, “He’s doing great! They ran down the lane for an 1/8th (one furlong) for the first time yesterday”. It is exciting seeing the little guy put together the building blocks to becoming a racehorse. The two also went for their first walk today with the weather a bit nicer out finally, getting acclimated with the track and surroundings, which will be crucial later as part of their pre-race when they transition to the Main Track at Woodbine later.
He definitely is a good student and something about his introvertedness tells us he means business. That aside, he is a bit of a cuddlebug and it made me so happy to see him warm-up to a Bunny plushie we brought one (one for his sis too, of course!). His caretaker Jayne who adores him so much, nicknamed him “Sucky Face” for his adorable pout. Michelle and I are actually shocked he hasn’t ripped it apart yet, so maybe he does have a gentle side!

Princess (A PIC BY MRWILL) continues to recover at her temporary home out in Caledon and we’re totally with her in her restlessness for some good weather. For the first time ever, I heard her let out a nicker, signalling her eagerness for time outside her stall. Emily Fisher continues to do an amazing job caring for her and it shouldn’t be long before she gets that vet clearance to be able to go outside again and just be a horse! She’s definitely earned it and we can’t to see her run free outside.
We recently stopped by for a visit and Princess got to spend time with both her moms Cathy and Emily. We could see how happy she was for a bit of us time, snacking on all her favourites after finishing up her dinner.

February was a big month for our dear Prince and Princess with both of them being born in the month! Princess (A Pic by Mrwill) celebrated her fifth birthday on February 5th and we were so happy to throw a little party for her where’s she staying and it was an amazing afternoon seeing her out of her stall, bandages off being spoiled!
Miraculously, she still is growing and while she’s a bit sore from her stall rest, she gets her regular massages which she loves. Emily, her Mama even showed us a few pointers how she likes to be massaged! She tells us Princess will take a year off to get better and just enjoy life. Motherhood will be looked at next year. We’re beyond excited for her! In the meantime she enjoys her hand walks with her Mama around the barn.
See some Snaps of our day together Emily, Sheri, Billy, Princess and I:
After our celebration, she had another party with Emily and there were little Princess Cupcakes! Amazing!
… and we must introduce you to our new friend at the barn, Lincoln. He literally is the cutest and Princess adores him!
Emily sent us this beautiful candid taken by her sister, Chantelle!

At long last, a special Holiday edition of Princess and now too, Prince Diaries! 2018 brought us several ups and downs but we end the year on a happy note knowing our dear Princess (A Pic by Mrwill) and Prince (Mr Will) were safe at home with their loving families. Life has been full of blessings and these two certainly bring us much joy.
We caught-up with Princess at her temporary home in Caledon on Christmas Day, meeting-up with her new Mama Emily Fisher who has done such a great job keeping her healthy. I couldn’t believe my eyes how great she looks – she just keeps growing and I’d guess she’s at least 17.5 hands tall now? To be conservative about her recovery, she’s on stall rest still, but enjoys occasional time outside her stall cross-tied while she is groomed or to say “hello” to her neighbours, including her buddy across the hall Esmeralda.
She’s been x-rayed and her injury is healing well, but Emily‘s focus is having her heal fully before she moves on to her next steps, whether it be showing at the Royal Winter Fair one day or motherhood. We are saddened that Emily’s beloved Don’s Folly had passed recently and we understand how trying it is picking-up the pieces again. Princess has been of great consolation and comfort to Emily, the sweet filly we’ve known her as always.
While it’s still early, some stallions are being scouted as a potential match for Princess and there are a couple leading Ontario stallions both Emily and her mom Michelle, who once worked with famed Kinghaven Farms, have in mind. Whatever choice Emily makes, we are thrilled for them and know they will make the right one come breeding season (beginning mid-February). I for one have been vocal about this flashy up-and-coming stallion at Frank Stronach‘s Adena Springs! We love the way his kids are looking and running so far.
Princess has developed a taste for unconventional treats and is absolutely obsessed with Rice Krispie Squares and Oatmeal Cookies. We spoiled her as she deserves with a gift basket containing several of her favourites. Her appetite is insatiable, destroying a platter of Fuji apple slices, two bags of mini carrots, cookies and squares quickly! It’s a wonder how she still looks so fit!
Emily still is dealing with the aftermath of Don’s Folly’s medical costs which went well above and beyond estimates prior to his passing. If you have anything you can give, please help via this GoFundMe.

Christmas wouldn’t have been complete without a visit to our Prince, Mr Will and we thought we’d gift him with his own first halter. We must say he looks rather dapper in it! Michelle and Rob Love (the latter who is an Outrider at Woodbine Racetrack, keeping horsepeople and horses safe especially when they break loose) have done an amazing job breaking him in and while he isn’t by any means sizey, he looks athletic and is a quick learner. We are in love with the beautiful white strip on his face, making him almost a spitting image of his Queen’s Plate-winning dad Not Bourbon.
Mr Will was just gelded (castrated) a few weeks back and we were advised he generally was well-behaved, although with their fillies and mares returning home for the winter, it was for the better with him starting to display “colt-ish” tendencies of late. Mr Will was on his best behaviour and even Billy was able to get up close to him without incident. He definitely is loved by the Loves (pun intended) and I get a kick out of the confusion adorable Miss Cailey Love gets when she’s told the real Mr Will is coming by to see Mr Will. We know Emily got confused when we asked her if she wanted to tag along with us to see Mr Will. In due time the world will know all about equine Mr Will!
2019 holds many exciting developments and stories about Princess and Prince and we can’t wait to share them with you! Happy Holidays!

To have one racehorse named after you is a dream, but for this to happen twice has me feeling like Bob Baffert winning his second Triple Crown!
While my schedule was super-busy during TIFF, it was almost impossible not to make a trip north of the City to see adorable MR WILL. Those of you following on Social Media will know how overjoyed we were to hear that a colt named MR WILL would be going through the sales ring at the 2018 Canadian Thoroughbred Horse Society Premier Yearling Sale last month. Bred by Northern Dawn Stable (Sherry McLean and Bob Craig), the colt after multiple bids went to owner/trainer Michelle Love and her husband Rob, who has the all-important job of Outrider at Woodbine Racetrack, keeping horses, horsepeople and fans safe. Once again, we are so touched by the Horse Racing community’s love. I am so grateful and thrilled about what lies ahead!
While we were saddened that our dear Princess (@APicbymrwill) had to be retired prematurely earlier this year, this gives us something to be really excited about. We still try to visit her every chance we can and we find comfort knowing that she is under the amazing care of Emily Fisher. She looks rather amazing and continues to be spoiled like she deserves. A bonus is that she’s only about ten minutes away from MR WILL. Emily is dealing with her beloved stallion Don’s Folly, who is nursing an injury right now so we wish her and Don all the best in his recovery.
After driving past their home a few times (GPS only gets you so far in the country!) and finally finding it, I was ever anxious to meet my adorable new namesake. Rob told me, “I thought that might’ve been you!” seeing a little red Acura ILX driving back and forth like a lost soul. Michelle led me into her barn, which houses Rob‘s beloved pony Grouch, a handsome gray who is a great ambassador for Woodbine, having appeared at Toronto’s Nathan Phillips Square to promote the sport. Michelle also has there a sweet filly she bought at the sale by red-hot freshman stallion, Souper Speedy. Although she warned me that MR WILL might bite (just like his namesake!) being the colt that he is, he was on his best behaviour, reaching over to give me a peck. He’s even getting the hang of Selfies and I’m sure we’ll be giving him lots of practice! The colt definitely loves an audience and I was so impressed watching him do laps around his pen as both Michelle and Rob each took turns on him. He is under amazing guidance and while many other yearlings are taking their time getting ready, this boy already is at work and a true professional about it. It also helps that he was prepped well entering the sale, making Michelle‘s job a lot easier.
MR WILL knows all about mini carrots already, surprising Michelle even! 🥕
See some Snaps:
Looking at his pedigree, I have every reason to expect that MR WILL should excel on the turf. He is by 2008 Queen’s Plate winner Not Bourbon who has some deep bloodlines tracing back to the great Northern Dancer and Secretariat, the latter whom he actually resembles with his chestnut coat and linear white blaze. He also has some stamina and turf breeding on his mom, Wila Brew‘s side. He is her first foal and she was a winner at Woodbine back in 2015 for trainer Dave Cotey, a man who knows his bloodstock having picked-out Kentucky Derby winner Mine That Bird on whom the Film 50-to-1 is based. I even remember seeing MR WILL‘s great-grandmother Willamar race at Woodbine when I was a kid and she was remarkably fast, setting a course record. Tons of history there.
We’ll try to keep you all updated on our boy’s progress without having to crash at Michelle and Rob‘s all the time. Too tempting to just show up at their home!! We’ve created a Twitter and Instagram for MR WILL, so please be following his exciting story as he transforms into a star of tomorrow!
Oh, we forgot to tell you about MR WILL‘s adorable little buddy, Roo!
He’s channeling Christopher Lloyd, Back to the Future!!
