The World of Cinema Elite made their way to Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles tonight for the 86th annual Academy Awards. Praised as both a strong year for Red Carpet Fashion and Film with a heated battle between American Hustle, 12 Years a Slave and Gravity, among others for Best Picture, ultimately 12 Years a Slave would prevail with top honours tonight.
The Drama based on the Memoir by Solomon Northrup, premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival this past September, before going-on to sweep a litany of accolades this Awards Season including victories at the Golden Globes, BAFTAs, Broadcast Film Critics Association and the Independent Spirit Awards just yesterday. In addition, to winning coveted Best Picture, it won also for Supporting Actress (Lupita Nyong’o) and Best Adapted Screenplay.
Alfonso Cuarón‘s Gravity, which has grossed over $700 million worldwide, also premiering at TIFF this last Fall, won the most Oscars this evening, tallying-in at seven wins, primarily in technical categories including Cinematography, Score and Visual Effects. Cuarón himself went-on to win for Directing.
AIDS Drama Dallas Buyers Club won the important Actor and Supporting Actor Categories with Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto respectively. Both brought along their Mothers to the Awards, the latter making a heartfelt tribute to his Mother who overcame great odds to provide for both him and his Brother.
As predicted by many, Cate Blanchett now is a two-time Oscar Winner, her first win coming for her work in 2004’s The Aviator. The Australian Actress won for her empathetic portrayal of a Woman coping with mental and addiction issues in Woody Allen‘s Blue Jasmine.
The Fashion on the Red Carpet tonight was a huge draw as several Fans via Social Media sounded-off on the tasteful styles of Kate Hudson in Versace, Cate Blanchett in Armani Privé, Amy Adams in Gucci, Angelina Jolie in Elie Saab and perhaps the most-talked-about was a Princess-like Lupita Nyong’o in what is now being called a “Nairobi Blue” Prada Dress with a Hairband. The light pastel blue Creation was chosen by the eventual Oscar Winner, who told Ryan Seacrest on the Red Carpet that it reminded the Kenyan Native of Nairobi.
Ellen DeGeneres once again did a bang-up job, making herself right at home with the A-List Audience, poking fun at everything from welcoming Liza Minnelli as a Female Impersonator, to some of this year’s Nominees who didn’t attend College (the Camera panned on Amy Adams nodded her head, admitting she too didn’t attend) to bringing out Pizza to some of the Evening’s famous Guests. Meryl Streep was one of the first to help herself to a slice. In addition, DeGeneres was out to set a record for the Most Re-Tweeted Selfie and helping her along were the likes of Bradley Cooper, Channing Tatum, Julia Roberts, Jennifer Lawrence, Jared Leto, Meryl Streep, Lupita Nyong’o, Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt and Kevin Spacey. Quickly, the Photo received over a million Re-Tweets (overtaking a previous Tweet from President Obama upon his Re-Election) and could’ve received more if it weren’t for reported technical difficulties likely due to the onslaught of traffic.

And the Grammy Race is in full swing. I admit Sara Bareilles totally has been off my radar for a bit. In fact, I had no clue she had a new Album out last year after having followedher Career closely when she first surfaced on the Pop Scene in 2007 with her Smash Hit Love Song. Read my Interview with Bareilles from back in 2010.
Although much has been said about the striking similarities between Katy Perry‘s Billboard Hot 100-topping Hit Roar and Bareilles’ Brave – the latter released her Track first in April 2013 – both Californian Artists did a fine job crafting inspiring pieces of Pop Perfection. Both respectively are being recognized for their work with Grammy Nominations… in the same Category.
Bareilles just appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show yesterday, performing her Best Pop Solo Performance-nominated Song. In addition, she also is up for Album of the Year for her The Blessed Unrest.

OMG. This is insanely cute. Sophia Grace, whom we’ve come to love through her and her Cousin Rosie‘s fame on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, finally has released her debut Single after several performances on that Daytime Staple. I normally roll my eyes when I hear about a Child trying to break into Showbiz, but legit, this Girl really is talented. A Natural.
“Nicki is my Princess, Ellen is my Queen”, proclaims the adorable Sophia. Talk about Friends in high places. What. She’s just eight-years-old. EIGHT!
Girls Just Gotta Have Fun actually has a pretty edgy Beat and solid Production; them Lyrics are actually pretty solid. And Sophia‘s vocals sound amazing! This is just awesome.

Hunks in the Kitchen! What’s not to like about that? Hailing from New Jersey, Cousins Anthony Carrino and John Colaneri are making a splash for the fantastic work they do, making the dreams of deserving Americans come true. You won’t believe your eyes some of the Transformations that have taken place under their expertise!
The Kitchen Cousins got their start running their Family-owned Company and while our Friends south of the Border know all about them, their brand new Series Cousins on Call is set to debut on HGTV Canada next Monday, April 22, 2013 at 10:00 PM on HGTV Canada. The first Season of the Series is highlighted by their heartwarming journey helping (together with Ellen DeGeneres) a Couple who moved into their new home only 45 days before Hurricane Sandy destroyed their home. More affecting, they also were expecting their first Child. Khloe Kardashian also surprises her Husband Lamar also on one episode!
I caught-up with the friendly Hunks after their appearance on Global Television‘s The Morning Show (National Edition) and their kind Publicist was awesome to help take our Snap. Needless to say they were smitten with Billy!

Just keep swimming! Fans of 2003 Oscar-winning Best Animated Feature Finding Nemo, will be bubbly with news of a forthcoming Sequel. Ellen DeGeneres who voiced the forgetful Dory in the Film announced earlier today she will be returning once again for Disney/Pixar‘s Finding Dory.
DeGeneres says, “I have waited for this day for a long, long, long, long, long, long time. I’m not mad it took this long. I know the people at Pixar were busy creating ‘Toy Story 16.’ But the time they took was worth it. The script is fantastic. And it has everything I loved about the first one: It’s got a lot of heart, it’s really funny, and the best part is—it’s got a lot more Dory.”.
Marlin, Nemo and the Tank Gang will be returning once again, in addition to several new characters according to Director Andrew Stanton.
Finding Dory hits theatres November 25, 2015, timed and primed for what appears to be another Oscar Campaign.

This frickin‘ killed me! Right in-time for its release today, Jennifer Lawrence visited The Ellen DeGeneres Show and admitted that her Mom recently stole her Oscars Ballot, voted and mailed it in. Fortunately enough, Lawrence‘s Mom mailed it to the wrong address and it got returned to Sender. On whether or not she agreed with her Mom’s choices, Lawrence replied, “Uh.. no.”. Lawrence who despite being nominated for an Oscar for her work in 2010 Drama Winter’s Bone, only recently was inducted into the Academy.
Of course there is tons of Oscar buzz already for 22-year-old Lawrence who portrays a young Woman with Bipolar Tendencies in the hilarious new Comedy from David O. Russell (The Fighter), alongside Bradley Cooper. Currently still working on The Hunger Games Sequel Catching Fire in Atlanta, Lawrence was just in Toronto this past September for TIFF, where Silver Linings Playbook premiered to warm reception, winning the People’s Choice Award.
See a couple Snaps I got of the current Brunette here and here.
