#FIRSTLOOK: NETFLIX’S “THIS SUMMER WILL BE DIFFERENT” NOW IN PRODUCTION
Netflix today announced the start of production for This Summer Will Be Different, based on the novel by the New York Times bestselling Canadian author, Carley Fortune.
The show is filming on Prince Edward Island (PEI) and in Toronto.
Additionally, a new image of the previously announced cast was revealed.
Netflix also announced new recurring cast, including Jordan Rodrigues as “Miles Lam,” Jude Wilson as “Zach”, Natalie Brown as “Christine”, James Tupper as “Ken”, Tom Barnett as “Peter” and Celia Owen as “Joy”.

Today Netflix announced Francesca Reale (Stranger Things, Do Revenge) will play “Bridget” and Roby Attal (The Haunting of Bly Manor, Sex Lives of College Girls) will play her brother Felix (nicknamed “Wolf”) in Netflix’s adaptation of Canadian author Carley Fortune’s bestselling contemporary romance novel This Summer Will Be Different.

Netflix and Sphere previously partnered on the limited series thriller, Wayward, which spent five weeks on the global top 10 and reached number one in 35 countries.
Since Netflix launched its Canadian slate in 2025, domestic viewing of Canadian content on the service has grown by nearly 20%. Globally, nearly 65% of Netflix members watched Canadian content in 2025.
