#FOOD: NUGATEAU UNVEILS NEW SPRING/SUMMER 2016 FLAVOURS
By George Kozera for Mr. Will Wong
On the most recent episode of Masterchef Canada, Chef Michael Bonacini describes these treats as the latest in food trends. Éclairs. An oblong pastry made with choux dough, filled with a cream and topped with icing. Or what I called growing up in Montreal, a city renowned for its pastries, chocolate and cream, hot dogs. Yes, I was quite an unsophisticated child!
NUGATEAU is the first Éclair-only Patisserie in Toronto. As owner, Abm Kadir, explained to me ...

#FOOD: DUFFLET PASTRIES HIGH TEA AT THE BEACHES
Few bakeries in Toronto have as much influence and legacy as Dufflet Pastries. Queen of Cake® Dufflet Rosenberg's beginnings were modest, baking right out of her kitchen back in 1975. Who would've known that her future would see three public mainstay cafés in Toronto's prominent Beaches, Queen West and Midtown areas, plus distribution in top-tier grocers like Longo's, Pusateri's Fine Foods, Loblaws, Metro and more? A Cake Empire - and believe me, this is not an exaggeration - Rosenberg ...

If you've visited a local upscale grocers like Longo's or Whole Foods, you probably already have tasted their greatness without even realizing it. Their three cafe locations across Canada (Yonge + Eglinton, Queen + Bathurst and Queen + Woodbine) ...

#FOOD: ÉCLAIRS BY NUGATEAU
With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, what better way to say “I love you” than with something truly decadent? Not that we’d turn away flowers and chocolates in a heart-shaped box, but we’d really be wowed by some authentic Parisian Éclairs from NUGATEAU... not to be confused with a villain from Zoolander.
From the same Le Cordon Bleu-trained mind of Jelly Modern Doughnuts and Brick Street Bakery, Atul Palghadmal, comes Toronto’s first Éclair-only Patisserie situated ...

#FOOD: THE CANTINA BY CAMPBELL’S SOUP
By George Kozera for Mr. Will Wong
In the interest of full disclosure, I must confess that I love soups. Every nationality and every culture has their own speciality, their own “heaven in a bowl”. Whether it be Borscht, Matzo Ball, Wonton, Billi Bi, Minestrone, Tom Yum, Avgolemeno, Gazpacho or, my favourite, Flaczki (Polish tripe soup). Soups nourish the soul. And is there anything more comforting than hot soup on a cold winter’s day?
Using a suite of Campbell's products tweaked with ...

#FOOD: KUPFERT & KIM – QUEEN & SPADINA
Wheatless, meatless. This slogan only scrapes the surface for booming local vegan chain, Kupfert & Kim. As a meat eater myself, the words "vegan"and "gluten-free" conjur ungratifying images of blandness, but I mean it when I say that this is Toronto's best of-its-kind offering. If my meals were all prepared like they are at the primarily fast food counter, there's a good chance I wouldn't miss meat for long. Now branching into a sit-down format at its new sixth location just ...
