Actress Emily Mortimer makes her TV directorial debut in THE PURSUIT OF LOVE. See this first look from the Series!
Synopsis:
Based on Nancy Mitford’s classic novel, The Pursuit of Love is unlike many other period dramas (e.g. Jane Austen romances). Witty, sexy and quirky—steeped in a rich historical setting, it explores the complex realities of finding purpose as a woman in 1930s England. By satirizing classic British tropes and modernizing a period drama, this series is the antidote to Downton Abbey. At the heart of the tale we see Fanny and Linda, two young women on a lifelong pursuit of love and marriage, but what’s really left are the bonds of intimacy and friendship—and the love between these women. As pre-war political divisions split the nation, these women’s diverging choices raise intimate personal questions that are relevant today – about freedom, love, sex, politics and the mystery of the human heart. Like other successful period dramas, we will see beautiful sets and costumes, and the lifestyles of the very posh and privileged juxtaposed with the confined societal realities for the characters, especially the women, as told through a woman’s lens. Beyond the themes and historical setting of Pursuit of Love, Prestige Romantics will be drawn to the noteworthy, attractive celebrity cast, particularly as it is Emily Mortimer’s TV directorial debut.
Cast: Lily James (“Linda Radlett”), Emily Beecham (“Fanny Logan”), Dominic West (“Uncle Matthew Radlett”), Dolly Wells (“Aunt Sadie Radlett”), Andrew Scott (“Lord Merlin”), Emily Mortimer (“The Bolter”), Beattie Edmondson (“Louisa Radlett”), Assaad Bouab (“Fabrice de Sauveterre”), Shazad Latif (“Alfred Wincham”), Freddie Fox (“Tony Kroesig”).

Synopsis:
Welcome to hell—a.k.a. Belle Reve, the prison with the highest mortality rate in the US of A. Where the worst Super-Villains are kept and where they will do anything to get out—even join the super-secret, super-shady Task Force X. Today’s do-or-die assignment? By Justin Waldman for Mr. Will Wong
There are plenty of Novels that get adapted into Features or Miniseries and down the road the author of the original text comes out against the final Hollywoodized version of their product. Stephen King is rather famous for disliking adaptations of his own work, even when the Hollywoodization is regarded as a classic, King still opposes. When watching some of the more recent King adaptations, there is usually a lot to be desired still, however with Apple TV+’s Lisey’s Story there is very little more to desire after the eight episodes. This is in part due to the fact that King adapted his own work and legendary Director Pablo Larrain directed the Series, but it hits the bullseye precisely.
Lisey Landon (Julianne Moore) lost her literary genius husband, Scott (Clive Owen) and decided to try and move on with her life and leave his unpublished works as such. Unfortunately for Lisey, a stalker Jim Dooley (Dane DeHaan) cannot accept that Scott’s work will go unpublished and starts to torment and stalk Lisey. As this progresses, it gets more intense and terrifying for Lisey as she is a caregiver for her sister, Amanda (Joan Allen), who needs around the care attention for her mental health. Lisey is helped by her other sister, Darla (Jennifer Jason Leigh) with Amanda but has her own griefs and traumas to process as well.
What makes Lisey’s Story so captivating is the story. King brilliantly interweaves flashbacks of Lisey remembering her romance with Scott, the modern day and supernatural occurrences. The way the story comes together is seamless, full of suspense, awe, and thrills. Pablo Larrain also masterfully directs this rich tapestry of words with such ease and brilliance that audiences will be captivated throughout the Series. The entire Show is engulfed in beautiful storytelling, visuals and direction that is sensational.
With any strong direction and storytelling only so much can be accomplished without a powerhouse Cast, and thankfully for Lisey’s Story everyone brings their A-Game. Moore astounds as Lisey, trying to process her PTSD of losing her husband, while being tormented by her stalker and flashbacks she so desperately tried to move on from. Clive Owen playing Scott, trying to help Lisey through his puzzle in helping her process her grief is nothing shy of captivating. However it is Dane DeHaan who gives a career best performance, as his performance is chilling, haunting, and terrifying. He embodies the darkness of King excellently and does not shy away from becoming the monster he was written out to be.
When there is a hauntingly brilliant Script, beautiful direction, and superb acting the final product is nothing short of fantastic. Lisey’s Story may start off with a lot of supernatural elements begging the audience to suspend belief briefly, but the payout and deliverance of the final product is more than worth the time. Sheer ingenuity and execution makes Lisey’s Story another phenomenal entry into the Apple TV+ catalogue and an adaptation King himself can approve of Lisey’s Story streams on Apple TV+ now.
Sex Education‘s Emma Mackey THE WINTER LAKE. Check-out the Trailer for this Ireland-set Thriller.
Synopsis:
Tom (Anson Boon) isn’t happy to be living in his late great-grandfather’s farmhouse. Newly transplanted to the Irish countryside, he is an introvert who spends his days, box-cutter in hand, scooping up animal skulls for his collection.
His mother Elaine (Charlie Murphy) isn’t pleased either and makes bitter references to something Tom did that forced them to flee the city. But one day, his wanderings reveal something shocking on the shore of their property’s seasonal lake, the body of an infant, washed up in a bag.
In Phil Sheerin’s directorial feature debut The Winter Lake, this is the key that unlocks a violent mystery. Shot in the hauntingly beautiful, if often rainy, Sligo/Leitrim area in the West of Ireland, it is peopled by characters who live a small-town life full of secrets. Tom is soon befriended by the mischievous neighbour Holly (Emma Mackey), a boundary-pressing teen who schools him in misdemeanors like stealing change from slot machines at the local casino.
Not socially adept, Tom must negotiate the complicated demands of the inwardly troubled Holly, and the hostility of her brutish father (Michael McElhatton) and bullying ex-boyfriend Col (Mark McKenna).
As the pieces begin to fit together, The Winter Lake moves toward a violent reckoning for a long-ago transgression.

Summer’s here and we couldn’t think of a better way to relish the sun than with the sporty and flashy red 2021 HONDA CIVIC 5D SPORT TOURING! We had the thrill of test driving this eye-catching Rallye Red ride for the weekend and true to form, it packs in value and excitement into a sleek package!
With our province in Phase One of our reopening, it is important to support our local economy as safely as possible and even if it’s just picking-up some necessities or seeing some friendly faces again, we’re just so thrilled the 2021 Honda Civic 5D Sport Touring was there for us.
I’m so proud of Ontarians for pitching-in to get our vaccination rates up and our case rates down as we edge ever so close to a semblance of normality. We hope your Father’s Day weekend was wonderful, and hope you got to spend time with your families.
This car is powered by a 1.5-litre, 16-valve, Direct Injection, DOHC, turbocharged 4-cylinder, running on 180 @ 5500 (MT) horsepower. It is great for highway and city driving, but would be strong enough to handle rural roads. Our travels take us allover the City and into the country and its versatility makes it an ideal match for us.
Fuel prices since our last test drive have skyrocketed so Fuel Economy definitely is on our minds of late. The 2021 Honda Civic 5D Sport Touring operates best on Premium fuel. While we found ourselves re-filling our thank more frequently, its 8.0 / 6.6 / 7.4 L/100 km (City/Highway/Combined) Fuel Economy still is heads and shoulders above other cars in its class. We love ECON mode as it maximizes efficiency, reducing the amount of fuel injected inside the engine, helping us get the most of our drive.
While we get that many of you love heat and humidity, we’re on the exact opposite end of the spectrum, loving cool, icy drinks in our abundance of cupholders and A/C in the Summer. The car has a powerful Climate Control system, allowing Driver and Passenger to customize temperature on each side. In no time, we were enjoying that cool breeze in that unforgiving weekend heat. While there aren’t Seat Coolers for these gorgeous leather seats (Driver’s Seat adjustable eight ways), we appreciate Seat Warmers in cooler months and those would come in handy in the blink of an eye as the seasons change so suddenly in Ontario.
The Audio System here is actually quite gratuitous as this is an important piece of our daily drives. Its 542-watt AM/FM Premium Audio System comes with MP3/Windows Media® Audio playback capability and 12 speakers including Subwoofer. Bluetooth was reliable and easy to our phone and for some of those long drives, SiriusXM is such a joy to have. Two USB Connectors are more than generous, considering we also get an awesome Wireless Charging plate as well meaning we can listen to our Spotify Playlists and get help navigating while not being worried our phone will run out of battery.
Honda honestly has market won with its Display Audio System, so easy to navigate and just looks gorgeous. You get its Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System™ with bilingual Voice Recognition. The display shows its Multi-angle rearview camera with dynamic guidelines and also assists when you’re changing lines to ensure you’re in the clear before moving over. We no longer struggle with backing-out or Parallel Parking with this feature saving our life.
In terms of safety, there is no detail spared by Honda. No matter which model you purchase, you can be at peace knowing that you are getting the best protection and prevention. Honda has calculated all the risks and worst case scenarios for you to ensure you are prepared. Features include: 4-wheel Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Brake Assist, Collision Mitigation Braking System™ (CMBS®) (HS*), Forward Collision Warning (FCW) system (HS*), Road Departure Mitigation (RDM) system (HS*), Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA®) with Traction Control, Honda LaneWatch™ blind spot display, Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS) (HS*), i-SRS airbag system (front), Side Curtain Airbags with rollover sensor system, HondaLink™ Assist Automatic Emergency Response System. While they can be clumsy for our adult passengers, Child Locks do what they are supposed to do in the back seats.

The car seats five people comfortably with plenty of room in its hatchback for cargo. We adore Proximity Entry, making it super-easy for us when our hands are full, which actually is often! (See above)
While the Start Engine button is a bit clumsy requiring a few tries sometimes to start things up, I have no real glitches to report with this ride. Would gladly do it all again!
The 2021 Honda Civic 5D Sport Touring starts at $33,900 CAN. More here.
