TOHO and GKIDS, the Academy Award-winning curator, producer, and distributor that was acquired by TOHO in 2024, revealed on stage at CinemaCon the first teaser for GODZILLA MINUS ZERO. Director Takashi Yamazaki took to the CinemaCon stage at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas this morning, presenting for the first time footage for the highly anticipated new film, and additionally confirming that the film is the first-ever Japanese production to be Filmed For IMAX.

GODZILLA MINUS ZERO picks up in 1949, two years after the tumultuous events of Godzilla Minus One, and continues the story of the Shikishima family as they face an all-new calamity. Additionally confirmed out of CinemaCon, Ryunosuke Kamiki, the hero who faced Godzilla’s terror in Godzilla Minus One, returns as Koichi Shikishima, and is joined by Minami Hamabe as Noriko Oishi, who miraculously survived Godzilla’s first attack on Tokyo.

On returning to his role, Ryunosuke Kamiki stated:

“I am beyond happy to be able to participate in a film set two years after Godzilla Minus One, which is one of the most important works of my life. I also feel proud to have been able to work with Director Takashi Yamazaki and everyone on the team once again. The pressure of participating in a Godzilla work loved by so many people remains the same as in the previous film, but I have done my absolute best so that everyone who watches it, and everyone who loves Godzilla, can enjoy it.”

While plot details for GODZILLA MINUS ZERO remain tightly under wraps, Oscar-winning filmmaker Takashi Yamazaki returns as Director, Screenwriter and VFX lead in his new film starring the King of the Monsters. The Blue Mountains (April 15, 2026) – The BLUE MOUNTAIN FILM + MEDIA FESTIVAL (BMFM) is pleased to announce the fifth edition of the Festival where mountain culture meets the silver screen with award-winning films from Canada and around the world, with 33 films representing 16 countries.

BMFM 2026 opens with Opening Night Spotlight: DANCING ON THE ELEPHANT, a Canadian comedy-drama about two friends (Sheila McCarthy, Mary Walsh) who attempt to break out of a retirement home, forging a life-changing bond that leads to one last, unforgettable adventure. The film is directed by Julia Neill and Jacob Z. Smith, adapted from a stage play of the same name by Lisa Hagen. The film’s star Sheila McCarthy will be in attendance for the introduction/Q&A, along with other cast and crew.

The Saturday Night Feature: Film Screening + After Party (May 30) showcases Nick Davis’s exuberant documentary YOU HAD TO BE THERE: HOW THE TORONTO GODSPELL IGNITED THE COMEDY REVOLUTION, SPREAD LOVE & OVERALLS, AND CREATED A COMMUNITY THAT CHANGED THE WORLD (IN A CANADIAN KIND OF WAY) about the legendary 1972 Toronto production of the musical Godspell, which launched many illustrious careers. One of the original cast members, screen and theatre legend Jayne Eastwood, will be in attendance for the post-screening Q&A.

BMFM 2026 will also set the stage for two films making world premieres. Matthew Poitras’ THE BRUCE PENINSULA is about two half-brothers who meet for the first time after the death of their estranged father and embark on a road trip across Northern Ontario to spread his ashes. THE NORTHMEN WAY: A LACROSSE STORY explores and celebrates the legacy and phenomenon of how Orangeville became a lacrosse powerhouse. Both local films will have film teams participating in in-person Q&As following their screenings.

South Georgian Bay’s students will have an opportunity to see Kid Koala’s animated feature SPACE CADET on the big screen as part of the school screening program, engaging the students about the craft of filmmaking and the power of storytelling. The students will have the chance to bring their questions to head of story-animator-production designer Lillian Chan. Adapted from Kid Koala’s graphic novel of the same name, SPACE CADET is about a young astronaut and her guardian robot which explores grief, loss and love across generations.

Paramount+ today announced that the record-breaking new series, The Madison, has been renewed for a third season.

The news follows a stellar debut for the Taylor Sheridan original series, which launched on March 14 to an impressive eight million global views for its premiere episode in its first 10 days on Paramount+.

The show is Sheridan’s most-watched debut ever and was the #1 original season by views among streaming originals for its first week of release (3/13 – 3/19) according to Luminate and The Madison will debut on Nielsen’s Streaming Top 10 chart as a top five original series with nearly 1 billion minutes viewed for its first full week (March 16 – 22).

Production for the second season of The Madison is complete and the premiere date will be announced at a later date.

In addition to Stevens’ casting, Paramount+ recently announced that Brian Cox will join this season as “The New York Ripper,” a serial killer who terrorized the city years ago, and Uma Thurman will reprise her role as Charley, the former Special Ops officer who fled the city last season.

Today, Cineplex Pictures announced that the battle for the fate of the Universal Century (U.C.) continues as Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway: The Sorcery of Nymph Circe arrives in theatres across Canada on Friday, May 15, 2026. The highly anticipated sequel follows its successful release in Japan earlier this year, where it surpassed its predecessor with a box office gross of approximately 2.4 billion yen (approx. $15M USD), exceeding the first film’s 2.23 billion yen.

Directed by Shukou Murase and produced by Bandai Namco Filmworks’ Sunrise Animation Studios, the film features a powerful voice performance by Kensho Ono as Hathaway Noa. The Departure Festival + Conference from Loft Entertainment and Oak View Group (OVG) and Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment (MLSE) today announced the relaunch of the Scotiabank Arena & Coca-Cola Coliseum Departure Bursary Program, which will support 15 aspiring music industry professionals in 2026. Originally created by Canadian Music Week and MLSE, Departure continues the legacy of introducing new talent into the live entertainment industry.

Intended for post-secondary students pursuing careers in the music industry, the Scotiabank Arena & Coca-Cola Coliseum Departure Bursary Program aims to break barriers, providing an opportunity for live music’s brightest aspiring artists to attend Departure for the first time, learn more about this ever-growing and changing industry as well as build their network.

“With Scotiabank Arena and Coca-Cola Coliseum being the center of live entertainment in Toronto, we are thrilled to open our doors in a unique way once again through this bursary program,” said Neil Claydon, Vice President, Ticketing and Music & Live Entertainment, MLSE. “Over the past few years, we’ve been able to give dozens of young leaders unprecedented access and opportunity to get a glimpse into our amazing and thriving industry, and we look forward to welcoming even more participants this year alongside our partners at Departure.”
