Disney+ has announced a release date for an upcoming collection of five Shorts, centering on Baby Groot. I AM GROOT arrives on Disney+ later this Summer.

Synopsis:

There’s no guarding the galaxy from this mischievous toddler! So get ready as Baby Groot takes center stage in his very owns series, exploring his glory days growing up—and getting into trouble—among the stars.

Vin Diesel, who is the voice of Groot in the “Guardians of the Galaxy” franchise, voices Baby Groot. The writer/director is Kirsten Lepore, and the executive producers are Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Brad Winderbaum and James Gunn.

I AM GROOT arrives August 10, 2022 on Disney+.

Austin’s Gabriel Luna is in Toronto working on an upcoming Arnold Schwarzenegger TV Series titled “UTAP” (title subject to change) for Netflix. The eight-episode Series (at 60 minutes each) also stars Jay Baruchel, Monica Barbaro, Fortune Feimster and more, with Schwarzenegger not only starring-in but also serving as Executive Producer. The Series centers on a father (Schwarzenegger) and daughter (Barbaro) who both secretly work for the C.I.A., and upon them learning of the other’s involvement with the agency, they have to work together as partners.

Luna, known for his memorable work in Terminator: Dark Fate (starring alongside Schwarzenegger), True Detective and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., stars in the new Series as “Boro,” an incredibly charismatic, Oxford-educated businessman, who’s chosen to apply those skills to a career in the illegal arms trade.

So amazing seeing Luna out and about grabbing dinner in the west-end. Despite playing some badasses on-screen, he is the nicest! So gracious! Have been hoping to run into him forever. Absolutely cannot wait to see this new Series, which happens to be Schwarzenegger‘s debut in a TV Series!

The 30th edition of the Toronto Jewish Film Festival (TJFF) is celebrating a return to the cinema where it all began at the Hot Docs Ted Rogers Cinema with a special “Blue Carpet” Opening Night at the Ontario premiere of PLAN A by the Paz Brothers.  The “Blue Carpet” will be hosted by none other than TJFF’s Artistic Director and co-founder Helen Zukerman.  Two musical highlights include live performances at the ROCK CAMP screening with former Fantasy Rock ‘N’ Roll campers, along with The Mamaliga Klezmer Band’s live musical accompaniment for the recently discovered and restored silent film BROKEN BARRIERS.

Four Winters celebrates the 25,000 Jewish partisans who escaped into the forests of Eastern Europe to resist the Nazis, carrying out deadly acts of sabotage, staging ambushes and waging clandestine warfare. Featuring interviews with five of the last surviving partisans, two of whom (Faye Schulman and Sara Ginaite) raised families in Toronto.

THE RHAPSODY, dir. David Hoffert (Canada)
At 99, late composer Leo Spellman, a Polish-Canadian Holocaust survivor, sets out on a journey toward artistic liberation. Through his journey to bring his lost musical masterpiece to the stage, his tale of survival is revealed through his secret wartime diary read by actor Stephen Fry, animation, and interviews with family and colleagues. The film also showcases the powerful performance of his composition at the Ashkenaz Festival in Toronto at which he was present.

Long thought lost but recently discovered and restored by the National Center for Jewish Film, this 1919 silent film is the first American cinematic adaptation of Sholem Aleichem’s  Tevye stories, famously brought to life in Fiddler on the Roof. This film focuses not on Tevye the milkman, but on daughter Khavah, who falls in love with the gentile boy Fedka.

From a working class Jewish family in Montreal, Marilyn Lightstone emerged as one of Canada’s foremost actors. This event is part of a larger tribute to Marilyn Lightstone, with 4 additional titles available online to viewers across Canada.

Happy Pride Month y’all! I haven’t had so much fun in a long time! You haven’t lived till you’ve experienced Drag Brunch at the gorgeous and scenic Harriet’s located on the rooftop of 1 Hotel on Wellington. The event was brought to us by Grey Goose!

A pure joy finally getting to see Queen of the North herself, and host of Award-winning Series Canada’s Drag Race and 1 Queen 5 Queers, Brooke Lynn Hytes. She killed it live including a rendition of Lana Del Rey‘s “Ultraviolence” which is too good not to post!

Amazing seeing local Queens Jada Shada Hudson and Miss Moço and Hostess Devine Darlin do an amazing job entertaining us! 🥂🌈

Devine Darlin told us as of August 18th, she will be a Registered Nurse!

In addition to a stunning skyling view, the food was superb at Harriet’s! Loved my Wagyu Taco, Salmon Ceviche, Spicy Crab Sushi, Short Rib and Desserts!

It should come as absolutely no surprise that TOP GUN: MAVERICK dominates again a second week, this weekend with a stellar $84.5 million from 4,751 theatres for Paramount Pictures. Over two weekends it grosses $290 million domestically.

Second is DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS with $8.8 million from 3,765 theatres. It has just been announced that this will arrive on Disney+ June 22, 2022. This brings its domestic total to $388 million for Disney.

In third is THE BOB’S BURGERS MOVIE with $4.7 million from 3,425 theatres for 20th Century Studios, a total over two weeks of $22.5 million.

THE BAD GUYS is have a great run, now in fourth with $3.3 million, taking it to a total $87.2 million.

DOWNTON ABBEY: A NEW ERA is at the bottom of the Top Five, with $3 million from 3,451 theatres for Universal Pictures/Focus Features. It has made $35.7 million to date in North America.

It was my first time ever at Niagara Falls Comic Con and it was an incredible time! The three-day event takes place at Niagara Falls Convention Centre, welcoming fans in from both sides of the Border. This the tenth edition of the Convention!

Last year, the event welcomed some 30,000 people, united fans of genre together all in one building in a celebration of Pop Culture and fandom. Among the celebrity guests in attendance this year were William Shatner, Brad Dourif, Ron Perlman, Kim Coates, Ryan Hurst, Laura Vandervoort, Joseph Marcell, Richard Karn, Erik Estrada, Larry Wilcox, Mick Foley and several more.

With tons of vendors selling hard-to-find items link Funko Pops!, Comics, Memorabilia and more, there truly was something for everoyne!

Some Photo Ops we were extremely happy to get, including Marcell who starred as Geoffrey Butler in The Fresh Prince of Bel Air (this was his first time ever in Canada); Estrada whom we loved in “CHiPS” and never thought we’d get to meet in-person; and Dourif who voices Chucky, experiencing a huge resurgence in popularity with revival series “CHUCKY” winning raves. Though the latter Series is filmed in Toronto, Dourif does most of his work from home in L.A. hence we never get to see him.

WALK OFF THE EARTH are back with new Single “BET ON ME” featuring Tyler Shaw! This is a catchy Summer Bop and I don’t even know how this escaped our radar where Lead Vocalist Sarah Blackwood is telling her love interest to “bet on her” like “Apple in the ’90s”. Hilar.

We love Horse Racing and the cover of the Single made us chuckle, and there’s even a few references to pedigree and stallions which is amaze. They need to film this Video at Woodbine Racetrack. I can’t see it being filmed anywhere else!

On the Single Cover, that’s a betting terminal, the type you see are racetracks and betting parlours. Fully-committed. YES!

The Track is produced by Gianni Luminati, Tokyo Speirs and The Futuristics.
