Netflix premieres the official trailer for upcoming series KAOS, alongside first looks of Billie Piper, Suzy Eddie Izzard and Debi Mazar.
Jeff Goldblum plays Zeus: King of the Gods, ruler of the world. He’s cruel, stylish and all-powerful.
That is, until he’s not. From BAFTA winning screenwriter and showrunner Charlie Covell* (The End Of The F***ing World), KAOS is a bold, darkly comic, contemporary take on Greek mythology: exploring love, power, and life in the underworld.
Having long enjoyed his status as king of the gods, Zeus’s reign has never been truly threatened. That is until he wakes up one morning and discovers a wrinkle on his forehead. Believing it to be the harbinger of an ancient prophecy which foretells his destruction, neurosis sets in: Zeus becomes convinced his fall is coming. As his paranoia takes hold, the god of gods – seeing signs everywhere – starts to dangerously self-destruct.
And he’s right to be worried. Zeus’s one time friend and now prisoner, Prometheus, is orchestrating a plan to bring him down. The plan involves three disparate humans, all of whom are totally unaware of their cosmic significance or the part they must play in saving the world. No pressure. (Some pressure.)
KAOS stars Jeff Goldblum as Zeus alongside Janet McTeer (Ozark, The Menu) as Hera, David Thewlis (Landscapers, Fargo) as Hades, Rakie Ayola (Anthony, The Pact) as Persephone, Cliff Curtis (Avatar: The Way of Water, Reminiscence) as Poseidon, Stephen Dillane (Game of Thrones, Darkest Hour) as Prometheus, Aurora Perrineau (Westworld, When They See Us) as Riddy, Nabhaan Rizwan (Industry, Station Eleven) as Dionysus, Killian Scott (Dublin Murders, ’71) as Orpheus, Misia Butler (Half Bad, The School For Good And Evil) as Caeneus, Stanley Townsend (The Current War, Becoming Elizabeth) as Minos, and Leila Farzad (I Hate Suzie, Better) as Ari. Billie Piper (I Hate Suzie, Eternal Beauty) and Suzy Eddie Izzard join the cast in cameo roles.
KAOS launches on August 29, 2024 on Netflix.

Richly visualised and deeply uplifting, Singing Back the Buffalo is an epic reimagining of North America through the lens of buffalo consciousness and a potent dream of what is within our grasp, which follows Indigenous visionaries and communities who are rematriating the buffalo to the lands they once defined.
Singing Back the Buffalo is written and directed by Hubbard and produced by Hubbard, Jason Ryle (Amplify), George Hupka (nîpawistamâsowin: We Will Stand Up, Obmin, On the Edge), associate produced by Marie-Eve Marchand (Iniskim), and executive produced by Bonnie Thompson (The Secret Society, nîpawistamâsowin: We Will Stand Up). A one-hour version will be broadcast on CBC The Nature of Things, feature version on APTN later in 2025. Canadian distribution is handled by Cinema Politica.
“The film is intricately connected to and inspired by the Buffalo Treaty, a treaty held between Indigenous nations across North America, emphasizing the need for Buffalo to be visibly present on the plains, especially for the benefit of youth. It is fitting that we have our theatrical release alongside the 10th anniversary celebration of the Treaty. I wanted the film to be a beautiful space to reflect on the significance of buffalo to the health of the land, our relationships with each other, and the love we have for our young ones,” said writer/director, Tasha Hubbard.
Hubbard (Cree) is an award-winning filmmaker, a buffalo academic and buffalo activist. Together with Blackfoot Elder Leroy Little Bear, Hubbard weaves an intimate story of humanity’s connections to buffalo and meticulously reveals how their return to the Great Plains can indeed usher in a new era of sustainability and balance. On her journey spanning eight years, Hubbard explores the challenges faced by buffalo allies and shares the positive steps already taken towards the ultimate – but uncertain – goal of buffalo rematriation. After their dark recent history of almost extinction, and in this time of immense environmental degradation and global uncertainty, the buffalo can lead us to a better tomorrow.
Singing Back the Buffalo is produced in association with CBC and APTN and produced with the participation of the Canada Media Fund, the Indigenous Screen Office and Telefilm Canada, with the assistance of the Government of Alberta, the participation of the Canadian Film or Video Production Tax Credit and Rogers Documentary Fund, as well as fiscal sponsorship provided by Redford Center.

ALIEN: ROMULUS is out of this world with a $40 million debut this weekend from 3,885 theatres for 20th Century Studios. This installment from Director Fede Alvarez, gets 81% on the Tomatometer. Highest franchise opening belongs still to 2012’s PROMETHEUS with $51 million.

Third is IT ENDS WITH US with $23 million from 3,739 theatres, exceeding all expectations and likely bolstered by all the controversy of a feud among its star Blake Lively and Director Justin Baldoni. This takes it to $96.7 million in its second weekend for Sony Pictures.
In fourth is TWISTERS with $8.4 million from 3,483 theatres for Universal Pictures, a total run of $237 million domestically.

After representing Canada three times at the Summer Games, Toronto’s Alysha Newman has broken through with a bronze medal at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. The Track & Field athlete specializes in Pole Vaulting, holding records at both the Commonwealth and Canadian Games record. She became the first ever Canadian woman to win a medal at the Olympics in Pole Vaulting.
After some rest and relaxation in France, Newman made her way back to her hometown, rocking her Nike suitcase, holding her broze medal. Despite some delays, she was in amazing spirits, looking forward most to visiting her grandmother! Love her.
After raising some eyebrows twerking to the camera after her medal-winning performance, we celebrated with a little twerk of our own. She’s an amazing sport! National Treasure.
Our Team Canada fever keeps going! So thrilled also we were able to find PHIL WIZARD (Phil Kim)! Born in Toronto though now based in Vancouver, he got the gold with the distinction of being the first ever to get top honours in the discipline at the Olympics!
Toronto is in for a treat as he performs as a last minute addition to the lineup at the 2024 King’s Plate taking place at Woodbine Racetrack, North America’s most historic horse race. He performs at both the Paris Texas Clubhouse and the Hats & Horseshoes Party! He also is just amazingly kind and gracious. What a star!
