alongside flavours and traditions from across Asia. He was also named the 2025 MICHELIN
Guide Toronto & Region Young Chef Award winner.

LES INCOMPETENTS, ST. CATHARINES (BIB GOURMAND)
Les Incompetents earns its first Bib Gourmand, one of five restaurants newly awarded the
distinction this year. The downtown St. Catharines restaurant and bar is from Zach Smith, Owen
Walker, Adam D’Intino, Bee Lim and Geoff Dillon, with a menu centred on French-ish cooking,
seafood, wine and cocktails.

REVÉ, NIAGARA-ON-THE-LAKE (MICHELIN SELECTED)
Revé joins the MICHELIN Guide in its first year. Founded by Executive Chef Adriano
Cappuzzello, Nicole Pisarenko, Anna Katherine Kruusi and Kevin Gillingham, the
Niagara-on-the-Lake restaurant serves a 10-course tasting menu built around live-fire cooking,
local farms and producers, seasonality and Cappuzzello’s Sicilian background.

TAKJA BBQ HOUSE, TORONTO (MICHELIN SELECTED)
Led by chefs Jeff Kang and Edward Bang, Takja joins the MICHELIN Guide for the first time.
The College Street restaurant focuses on Hansang, meaning “a full table of food,” with seafood,
banchan, house fermentation, dry-aged meats and tableside Korean barbecue designed to be
shared.

DOWN HOME, MARKDALE (MICHELIN SELECTED)
Chefs and co-owners Joel Gray and Hannah Harradine are behind the 16-seat restaurant,
where the tasting menu is shaped by what the team grows on their own farm, gathers and
sources from nearby farms and producers. Down Home returns to the MICHELIN Guide for its
third consecutive year.

FAT RABBIT, ST. CATHARINES (MICHELIN SELECTED)
Fat Rabbit, the St. Catharines restaurant and butcher shop from chef and co-owner Zach Smith,
works with whole animals sourced from Ontario farms, supported by an in-house butchery and
charcuterie program and a seasonal menu. Fat Rabbit returns to the MICHELIN Guide for its
third consecutive year.

GEORGE RESTAURANT, TORONTO (MICHELIN SELECTED)
Executive Chef Lorenzo Loseto has overseen George’s kitchen for more than two decades, with
seasonally driven menus and a signature double-blind Chef’s Choice tasting experience tailored
to guests’ preferences. The restaurant returns to the MICHELIN Guide for its fifth consecutive
year.

Bleeding Edge Festival returns to Toronto for its third edition, taking over Paradise Theatre from November 26–28, 2026, with three days of some of the boldest new independent cinema from across North America. Presented by Istic Illic Pictures, this year’s festival brings together features, mid-length films and shorts from filmmakers working at the edges of contemporary independent cinema.

Highlights include the Toronto premiere of Louise Weard’s Castration Movie Chapter iii. Junior Ghosts—Premorphic Drift, a two-hour standalone passage from her sprawling postmodern epic; Jason Waters’ Crocodile Dose, a delirious coming-of-age comedy told through cell phones, digital photography and the internet; and Morgan Krantz’s new feature The Water is Always Warm, a darkly comic chronicle of a friendship unravelling over a series of increasingly distant dinners. Also screening are Fast, the sixth feature from American filmmaker Rob Tregenza, his meticulous slow-cinema approach to a dreamlike journey through the American South; Toronto filmmaker Adrian Murray’s Pocket Mirror, an offbeat portrait of loneliness, AI and unease in the 2020s; Matthew Danger Lippman’s scrappy DIY comedy Fellas; Albert Pham’s behind-the-scenes chronicle The Making of the Pee Pee Poo Poo Man; Heather Landsman’s strange and tender ee, and new short films from Toronto filmmakers Alex Ateah, Katerina Zoumboulakis, Carly Balestreri and Lee Lawson.

Bleeding Edge’s 2026 lineup reflects a generation of filmmakers making ambitious work outside conventional production models, spanning analogue image-making, archaic camera technologies, digital textures and new-media forms. Made largely on microbudgets, the films share a willingness to experiment with the possibilities of contemporary independent cinema.

“The programming for this year’s Bleeding Edge Film Festival highlights a community of young, bold filmmakers that is burgeoning in Toronto and across North America,” says Alan Jones. “These films are not afraid to break conventions or take risks, and I am so excited to help bring these filmmakers and their works to the Bleeding Edge community that has grown over the past few years.”

In Toronto, Bleeding Edge has become a platform for emerging and unconventional filmmakers and an affordable, communal alternative to the traditional festival experience.

Filmmakers and cast attending this year’s festival include Heather Landsman, named one of Filmmaker Magazine’s 25 New Faces of Independent Film; Rob Tregenza, the acclaimed experimental filmmaker and cinematographer who has worked with Béla Tarr; filmmaker and actor Morgan Krantz; Albert Pham and Katerina Zoumboulakis, both featured in The Globe and Mail’s coverage of Toronto’s New Bizarre filmmaking scene; and filmmakers Jason Waters, Alex Ateah, Matthew Danger Lippman, Carly Balestreri and Lee Lawson.

Also attending are performers and collaborators including Graham Cox, Chase Mackay, Nick Newman, Will Brown, Matt Allan, Robin Schavoir, Ben Petrie, Sofia Banzhaf and Maziyar Khatam.

This evening, the MICHELIN Guide unveiled the 2026 restaurant selection for Toronto & Region. The ceremony and celebrations took place at the Liberty Grand Entertainment Complex.

This year’s restaurant selection welcomed five new Bib Gourmands: Antylia, Golden Horseshoe Barbecue, Les Incompetents, RPM Bakehouse and The Lunch Lady of Saigon. In addition to the new Bib Gourmands, 11 restaurants joined the selection as Recommended eateries for the first time. The full selection, including retaining Starred restaurants, totals 111 restaurants with 33 cuisine types represented throughout Toronto & Region.

Mindful Voices – a tribute to inspiring concepts

New for 2026, the Mindful Voices platform brings together inspirational voices from across the hospitality industry – an editorial space where chefs, hoteliers, and winemakers can share their stories and pioneering practices, both with one another and the rest of the world.

During this year’s ceremony, Chefs Aldo Camarena and Ashley McKay from Antylia in Toronto were both welcomed onstage as new Mindful Voices for this year’s Toronto & Region edition. These chefs take great pride in cultivating relationships with local farmers and Indigenous growers to highlight their ingredients across the restaurant’s menu.

The Sommelier Showdown is back — bringing a little friendly competition to Toronto’s food and wine scene this fall.

Starting September 28, 2026 at Riley’s Toronto, two leading sommeliers will go head-to-head, pairing wines with a decadent four-course dinner while guests taste, compare and ultimately vote for the winner. The winning sommelier advances to the next round, culminating in a Final Showdown on November 23, 2026

It’s part culinary competition, part wine education and part night out — with the pairings unfolding course by course in front of a live audience.

Netflix today announced that Crew Girl has been renewed for Season 2.

Season 1 of the coming-of-age teen drama series launched on September 10 and debuted in the Netflix English TV Top 10, where it has remained since its release, climbing up to #2 this week. It reached the top 10 in over 90 countries and now has over 16M views.
