Brendan Fraser, star of the highly anticipated upcoming film “Pressure,” will serve as honorary starter for the 110th Running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge, waving the green flag Sunday, May 24 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Written and directed by Anthony Maras, “Pressure” follows General Dwight D. Eisenhower, played by Fraser, and Captain James Stagg, played by Andrew Scott, in the tense 72 hours before D-Day. With the fate of the free world hanging in the balance, “Pressure” follows General Dwight D. Eisenhower and Captain James Stagg as they face an impossible choice: launch the largest and most dangerous seaborne invasion in history or risk losing the war altogether.

Fraser’s nuanced performances and compelling role choices have earned widespread acclaim. Fraser is most well-known for his role in Universal’s Mummy franchise as Rick O’Connell. Stephen Sommers’ 1999 action/horror adventure was an ambitious retooling of the 1932 horror classic, with Brendan cast as an American serving in the French Foreign Legion who becomes involved with an English archaeological expedition and the ancient secrets they unleash. In 2001, Fraser reteamed with Sommers and co-star Rachel Weisz in the sequel, The Mummy Returns. In 2008, Universal released Mummy 3: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor. The franchise has grossed $1.415 billion worldwide.

Brendan was born in Indianapolis and raised in Europe and Canada. He has been dedicated to honing his craft since the early age of 12 and began attending theatre when his family lived in London. He attended high school at Toronto’s Upper Canada College and received a BFA in acting from the Actor’s Conservatory, Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle.

Emmy® Award-winning actor Luke Kirby joins the cast of Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent in Season 4, returning this fall on Citytv. Following an overwhelming show of support at its opening night celebration
last night, acclaimed Toronto-based photojournalist Racheal McCaig’s landmark exhibition
50/20 is now officially open to the public at the historic El Mocambo.

Presented as part of the 2026 CONTACT Photography Festival and in celebration of the 50th
anniversary of Canadian Actors’ Equity Association, the exhibition is free to attend and runs until
May 20, 2026.

50/20 brings together two decades of photography documenting the artists, productions,
rehearsals, backstage moments, and performances that have helped shape Canadian theatre
and live performance culture. Through McCaig’s lens, audiences are invited into an intimate
visual archive that captures the humanity, collaboration, and creative energy behind some of
Canada’s most celebrated theatrical works and performers.

Featuring portraits and moments involving legendary Canadian talents including Martin Short,
Catherine O’Hara, Eugene Levy, Ross Petty and many others, the exhibition reflects the
breadth and depth of a national arts community whose impact continues to resonate across
generations.

More than a traditional gallery presentation, 50/20 is designed as an immersive experience.
Carefully curated music, digital installations, and large-scale photographic presentations
transform the El Mocambo into a living tribute to Canadian theatre culture. The exhibition moves
audiences through decades of artistic history while creating space to reflect on the often unseen
work that happens behind the curtain.

At its core, the exhibition highlights the importance of preserving and celebrating Canada’s
theatre history. McCaig’s photographs document not only performances, but the relationships,
labour, emotion, and creative process that sustain the performing arts community across the
country.

Held within one of Toronto’s most iconic cultural venues, the exhibition continues the El
Mocambo’s renewed vision as a multidisciplinary creative hub supporting music, visual art, and
live performance.

A highlight of the exhibition also includes Women Who Rock, McCaig’s permanent stairwell

The all-new Star Wars film opens exclusively in theatres May 22, 2026.

The evil Empire has fallen, and Imperial warlords remain scattered throughout the galaxy. As the fledgling New Republic works to protect everything the Rebellion fought for, they have enlisted the help of legendary Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and his young apprentice Grogu. Directed by Jon Favreau, “Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu” is written by Jon Favreau & Dave Filoni & Noah Kloor, and is produced by Kathleen Kennedy, p.g.a., Ian Bryce, p.g.a., Jon Favreau, p.g.a., and Dave Filoni, p.g.a., with Karen Gilchrist, John Bartnicki, and Carrie Beck serving as executive producers.
