With raves abound from Critics and Fans, THOR: RAGNAROK takes the top of the Box Office in its debut hammering down its competition with a $118 million from 4,080 theatres for Marvel/Disney. This marks the highest debut yet for the Thor Franchise eclipsing 2013’s $85 million opening for THOR: THE DARK WORLD. It gets 95% on the Tomatometer and an A CinemaScore.
A BAD MOMS CHRISTMAS opens in second after a special Wednesday bow with $15.7 million from 3,615 theatres. Last year’s predecessor BAD MOMS opened with $23 million. It gets 31% on the Tomatometer and a B CinemaScore.
JIGSAW after scaring Moviegoers into submission last week, slips to third with $6.1 million for Lionsgate Films/eOne Films. It has made $28 million in two weeks.
TYLER PERRY’S BOO 2! A MADEA HALLOWEEN is in fourth this weekend with $4.2 million also for Lionsgate Films/eOne Films. It has made $42.5 million domestically thus far in three weeks.
BLADE RUNNER 2049 is in eighth with $2.1 million. Thus far it has grossed $85 million for Warner Bros. over five weeks.
LET THERE BE LIGHT rounds-out the Top Ten with $1.5 million from 600 theatres across North America. The faith-based Film doesn’t have a Canadian release.
In a Horror-filled October Box Office, it only is fitting that JIGSAW takes the top spot pre-Halloween weekend with $17.4 million for Lionsgate Films/eOne Films from 2,941 theates. It gets 37% on the Tomatometer with a B CinemaScore. The Saw Franchise best was achieved with 2007’s SAW IV earning $67 in its bow and this is its eighth installment.
TYLER PERRY’S BOO 2! A MADEA HALLOWEEN lands in second in it second week out with $10.3 million, a tally of $35.8 million thus far for Liongsate Films/eOne Films.
GEOSTORM finds itself in third with $5.4 million for Warner Bros. from 3,246 theatres. In its two week-run it has made $23.3 million domestically.
HAPPY DEATH DAY, a former champ, is in fourth this weekend with $5.2 million for Universal Pictures. It has made $48.5 million over three weeks.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE debuts in seventh for Universal Pictures with $4 million from 2,054 theatres, a second Film in the Top Ten for actor Miles Teller whose ONLY THE BRAVE is in sixth with $4.1 million. It earns 77% on the Tomatometer with an A- CinemaScore.
SUBURBICON, a TIFF ’17 selection from George Clooney as Director, opens in ninth with $3.1 million from 2,046 theatres for Elevation Pictures/Paramount Pictures. It gets 26% on the Tomatometer, with a D- CinemaScore.
IT rounds it all out in tenth with $2.3 million in its eighth week, a total $323 million over eight weeks.
