For a second straight week, Disney’s THE LION KING takes the throne at the Box Office, with $78 million. In its second week, it surpasses $353.2 million in earnings, from 4,725 theatres across North America.
In second is Quentin Tarantino‘s ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD with $41 million from 3,659 theatres in its debut, the biggest ever opening for the iconic Filmmaker and Sony Pictures. 2009’s Inglourious Basterds, also starring Brad Pitt like this Film, was his previous best opening with $38 million. The Film gets 86% on the Tomatometer and a B CinemaScore.
SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME lands in third this weekend with $11.8 million. Its four week run for Sony Pictures is $344 million domestically.
The Horror CRAWL is in fifth with $3.9 million for Paramount Pictures, a total $31.3 million over three weeks.
THE FAREWELL debuts in the Top Ten this weekend, expanding to just 135 theatres for A24/VVS Films with $1.4 million. It has made $3.6 million to date in very limited release. The Dramedy starring Awkwafina is 100% on Rotten Tomatoes still.
SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME takes the top of the Box Office a second straight week with $44.5 million from 4,634 theatres across North America. This takes its tally to $273.7 million for Sony Pictures.
TOY STORY 4 takes the second spot with $20.6 million in its third week out for Disney. Over four weeks it has grossed $346.3 million domestically.
CRAWL is in third with $10.6 million for Paramount Pictures in its debut at 3,170 theatres. It gets 88% on the Tomatometer despite not being previewed for Canadian media and Audiences gave it a B CinemaScore.
STUBER opens in fourth with $8 million from 3,050 theatres for 20th Century Fox. The Comedy starring David Bautista and Kumail Nanjiani, gets 47% on the Tomatometer and a B CinemaScore.
MIDSOMMAR lands in eighth spot with $3.5 million for A24/Elevation Pictures, a two week total of $18.4 million.
MEN IN BLACK: INTERNATIONAL rounds-out the Top Ten with $2 million for Sony Pictures, a five-week total of $76.3 million.
Hot off filming new Netflix Series SPINNING OUT in Toronto, Kaya Scodelario stars in upcoming Horror, CRAWL.
SYNOPSIS:
When a massive hurricane hits her Florida hometown, Haley (Kaya Scodelario) ignores evacuation orders to search for her missing father (Barry Pepper). Finding him gravely injured in the crawl space of their family home, the two become trapped by quickly encroaching floodwaters. As time runs out to escape the strengthening storm, Haley and her father discover that the rising water level is the least of their fears.
